  1. Review titled Gold standard for maternity care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sasha - Posted on 14 August 2023

The maternity team who looked after me, including the infant feeding team that helped when I was struggling to breastfeed are amazing people. I am so greatful for the help they provided, the consitstance and generally warmth. They truly are exceptional people from: working in partnership with other agencies, to reassuring me and any anxieties I had by helping me work through them. They also supported me by making sure I got rest and didn't physically push too hard that would have set my recovery back. This enabled me to leave the hospital with my baby after a week. While there they also suprised me with a birthday cake and the staff wished me happy birthday which really was thoughtful and appreciated making the day special.

  2. Review titled Thanks again to the blood team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda - Posted on 10 August 2023

Despite regular blood tests, I still get myself into a tizz. Many thanks to the lovely lady who took my blood without causing pain or bruising and validated my feelings of anxiety. And we ran early. An excellent service.

  3. Review titled Medically fine - food dreadful

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 August 2023

I have no complaint about the treatment I received but the food is very poor with half the items on the menu not available and the sandwiches pretty bland. Discharge procedure slowed by Pharmacy. Ready to go home at 3pm and left at 7pm. If this was a school report it would read “could do better if they tried!”

I am pleased to hear that the treatment was good, but I'm sorry you found the food choices poor, with many items not available. We, along with many other hospitals, are currently experiencing issues with food supplies due to some catering companies going out of business across the UK and the remaining ones being stretched to supply more hospitals. As a result menu choices are more limited. We are hoping this situation will improve in a few months. Our hospital pharmacy teams work hard to supply medications for patients to take home when they are discharged, and I'm sorry you were delayed because of this. Your feedback will be shared with the teams. Best wishes

Very disappointed with a nurse in Quex Ward who is handling bay 4. Very rude and quite abrupt. Not attending to patient's needs.

  5. Review titled Does anyone work in ent

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Paul Adamson - Posted on 17 August 2023

Been waiting 13 months for Nasal surgery and have not had one piece of communication. Tried ringing numerous times and no one answers the phone. Have written to pals and have had no response from them. As most of the world is back to normal after COVID why is it only government departments that still use it as an excuse.

  8. Review titled Very understanding and caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 August 2023

I was in the Happy Sparrows ward which I would also compliment the nurses and hca's were very helpful and understanding. And was given a chest drain and I would compliment the 2 emergency staff for their quick and understanding service in this matter. However I would mostly compliment the woman who was working in pain management who understood as soon as she saw me that I was in agony and put me on a pain management pump immediately which completely helped me recover better straight away I got my appetite back and could move again and most important brieve properly to get rid of the blood inside me.

  9. Review titled Day surgery team on 22.7 was amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 July 2023

After multiple confusions and frustrating interactions by the Spencer Wing leading up to my appointment on the 22.7.23, my experience with the day surgery ward was absolutely brilliant thankfully! I can't remember everyone's name but all the staff from receptionist, ward staff of nurses and care staff, anaesthesia team, consultant and recovery team -- everyone was so reassuring, kind and sensitive and kept me informed every step of the way. It was my first time in hospital and they actually made it a pleasant experience which I'm very grateful for. Wonderful experience and I appreciate how hard you work and the kindness you bring to your work considering all the pressure you are all under within the NHS.

  10. Review titled Kind and caring haematology department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda Fell - Posted on 15 June 2023

I went for a blood test today. The department were running late because an earlier patient was feeling ill. I saw this patient treated with the utmost care and consideration. At the same time, a male patient was shouting because of the delay. He was also treated well despite his bad behaviour. When my turn came, the nurse apologised for the delay then did the quickest and most efficient blood test I have ever had, all the time chatting to put me at my ease. An absolutely excellent service.
