  2. Review titled They are not triaging

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 January 2024

Accident and emergency are not triaging people. They sent my child who is under 5 round to urgent care on previous visits over that week, on my final visit 12 days into illness I requested they triage her, when we did we got sent straight to children’s ward and discovered her oxygen levels were 86 and she the spent 5 days in HDU in Lewisham. Waited over 9 hours for a transfer to Lewisham as well. Kids were being treated in the waiting room. Unacceptable to not triage properly, they were dismissal, not just one individual, it was different people each time just shouting go urgent care. We since have been going to Lewisham where they assess people properly. You can’t send all kids round to urgent care without triage, they don’t all have simple colds. If someone comes in covered in a rash struggling to breathe how can you not triage. Never coming back, will travel further to Lewisham for proper treatment. 9 hour wait and packed waiting room. The hospital is a shambles and needs urgent work.

  4. Review titled Great all round experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had to take my daughter to the children’s a&e after an ice skating accident. I have to say that the hospital is so well organised. Loved the fact the children’s a&e was completely separate as I’ve had some bad experiences at other hospitals with my children in with adults in a&e. We were seen quickly. Lovely staff from porter at the door, receptionist, triage nurse, doctors, Xray staff. I could not fault anything. Everything was explained at each stage. Even my children commented on it. Lovely ethos is the hospital. Thank you so much for looking after us so well!

  5. Review titled A&E is a joke!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 December 2023

I’m 10wks4days pregnant I encountered lots of pain, bleeding and clotting which made me believe I was having a miscarriage so I called an ambulance and still nothing for the next hour so i call 111 and they said it’s up to a 3 hour wait so I decided too call a cab to the hospital instead as I was in pain and severe bleeding which had me really worried, as I arrived at the hospital and I told the reception about my situation they told me to wait in the waiting room until my name is called and I sat in that waiting room for a whole 13 hours and in that time frame they had only done my bloods and didn’t even check to see if I was ok or if my baby is ok and didn’t check the bleeding or a scan within those 13 hours I understand that it’s a busy time but I don’t think it’s appropriate to leave a pregnant lady waiting 13 hours in a waiting room without even checking if everything’s ok, there wasn’t even any seats available so I had to stand up while all this was going on, people were assaulting eachother in the waiting room which made me feel very uncomfortable and gave me constant anxiety, It wasn’t until the next day in the afternoon that anyone checked on me and after a whole 13 hours they sent me off for a scan and it showed that my baby’s heartbeat is still beating strong thank god! But the way I was dealt with at that A&E is a complete joke as that’s also the second Time it’s happened to me at that hospital while being pregnant which I don’t think is acceptable at all, even the toilets there were rancid multiple times I had to clean other peoples poo and pee off the toilet seats when they have cleaners who should be doing this, I just think it’s more stress for a pregnant woman to have to go through all of this it’s out of order.

Thank you. “I am very sorry to hear about your experience in ED, this is not the level of care we strive for, and I sincerely apologise for the lengthy waits you experienced whilst in ED. The Trust has been under immense pressure over recent weeks and whilst we are working hard to combat the challenges we face, at times of high pressure we are unable to meet the standards we aim to achieve for our patients. This does not make it acceptable to have to wait uncomfortably for the length of time you did, and I am deeply sorry for that, but please rest assured that we are doing everything we can to improve waiting times and capacity issues across the site. I am glad to hear that you and your baby are doing well and I wish you all the best during your pregnancy.” Amanda yates ED Matron

“ I am very sorry to hear this, the process within our ED is that the bloods are sent at the earliest opportunity and then reviewed by the clinical team. I am sorry to hear that this was delayed in this instance and therefore picked up later than we would like. The Trust is working very hard to combat delays in our ED, we have experienced significant pressures of late but are working hard to improve on delays and patient experience. Once again I apologise for the delays and for any distress this caused”. Thank you, Amanda Yates ED Matron

  7. Review titled Great care - Ward 15

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 January 2024

As expected, there was a long wait to be triaged in A and E , sitting in a wheelchair in agony from 12.30pm, i was then moved sub acute where i gratefully received iv meds as was in terrible pain. Admitted at midnight after my CT scan showed acute pancreatitis and a blood clot. I can honestly say the staff in Ward 15(b) were amazing, from the doctors, nurses to the hca’s, cleaning and catering staff. I spent three weeks there, was visited by the pain management team and ITU regularly when i was really poorly. Each time an Xray, CT scan, MRI or ultrasound was requested by the Dr’s doing the ward round, i was whisked away to have it done the same day. Cannot fault the treatment i received

  8. Review titled Left high and dry

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Malcolm Crowhurst - Posted on 02 November 2023

Had several visits as have a torn tendon in my left shoulder, was recommended keyhole surgery. The operation was first cancelled as the surgeon was in America and rang us to say don’t turn up. We have been given two dates since, both of which have been cancelled, one was on a Saturday and when we got there was informed no ops were carried out on a Saturday. The last appointment we were told a date will be sent for the operation, have heard nothing since. I have been left with a painful shoulder, cannot drive and am feeling hopeless about ever getting this op.

Dear Mr Crowhurst Having looked into this case it appears that the planned operation for 29 August 2023 was cancelled as the consultant was delayed in travelling back from abroad due to a flight delay. The surgery date was then rescheduled to 24 October 2023 and was then cancelled again due to planned leave requested 6 weeks in advance. It is very poor to cancel a patients operation twice and this is unusual however this does not take away from the poor experience which you suffered for which I sincerely apologise. I can see no previously planned operation dates for any Saturdays’ and we certainly would not usually book elective surgery on a weekend. I note your operation is now confirmed for 21 November 2023 and I wish you the best with this. Kind Regards David Wall Associate General Manager

  9. Review titled Poor post natal service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Rohan - Posted on 10 October 2023

The delivery suite has good nurses and carers however it all goes downhill from there. The midwives in post natal department are bad! Our midwife was rude and seemed like she really did not care. This is my second time experiencing this hospital and would definitely would not suggest this hospital to anyone as it is always chaotic coupled with very below par night midwives.

  10. Review titled Outstanding care and service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Emma Bateman - Posted on 25 October 2023

Upon arrival I was booked in within 20 minutes and seen by the triage nurse who promptly sent me to the appropriate department where I only waited a further 20 minutes to be seen by a very caring and understanding Dr who explained what was causing the pain along with what painkillers he was prescribing me and how to take them. This was my 1st experience here and I can hand on heart say I was very impressed and would recommend .
