  1. Review titled Exemplary Care provided - 1 exception

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Matthew - Posted on 12 March 2024

We recently gave birth in Telford Hospital. The care we received for the majority of our time at Princess Royal Hospital, in both the delivery & postnatal units, was brilliant. All staff were extremely friendly, informative and ensured that we remained as calm as possible. They repeatedly ensured we understood all decisions were ours and that we were in control. Unfortunately, we believe a single member of staff displayed scaremongering tactics when questioned on potential risks of treatment. The most sever case of this was when our child required UV treatment for jaundice and we were concerned as to whether there was any risk to this treatment as things were moving fast. When the question 'are there any risks to blue light therapy' was raised, we were simply told 'the risk is if you don't have it, your baby might die'.

  2. Review titled Brilliant care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Though waiting times could be long, I received the best care possible both in the waiting room and while being admitted. Waiting times cannot be helped but every single member of staff that cared for me was brilliant. I’m only young but have had to deal with many health complications in my life and I cannot fault this hospital for the quality of care given and the compassion shown towards their patients. I couldn’t have asked for better care and am sincerely grateful to be treated in this way.

  3. Review titled Professional, efficient, caring

I had an endoscopy on Saturday. Every member of staff, from my initial interview to my discharge was reassuring, informative and friendly. A potentially unpleasant procedure was made to feel as ‘good’ as it could be. Thank you very much.

My very nervous daughter had a blood test in the ocean room today. The lady who took the blood was so good, chatting away so that she barely noticed it was being taken. And really quick . The room Is also great. Fishes projected into the floor. Great service. Thank you

  5. Review titled First Class Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I cannot thank the A&E team enough for such a super speedy and friendly experience after having had a nasty fall. Given all the things you hear about queues and service levels, I attended expecting to be in for a wait of at least 3 hours or more. So in preparation took a packet of pain killers along with food, a kindle and plenty of fluids. It was such a pleasant surprise and experience to find I was through check-in, triage, saw practitioner, x-rayed and back with the practitioner to have a diagnosis of a fracture and a follow up appt booked with fracture clinic for next day within less than an hour. Amazing service, even offered a cuppa but had to decline as I was done before it could be poured. This has helped restore some of my faith back in the system, but regardless of the system I never lose sight of the fact that all staff members are trying to do the best they can in all circumstances.

I cannot thank this department enough! I've had a few visits now and each time I'm looked after so well. From the ladies at the desk, the doctors, nurses- everyone! I have been made to feel safe and like nothing is too much trouble! I've been in such good hands and I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes to have such friendly and professional faces around. Thank you!

  9. Review titled What a difference

    by HH22HJH - Posted on 13 October 2023

Fell in Newport and was taken to Princess Royal - total bedlam for ten and a half hours until finally seeing orthopaedic consultant. Both shoulders broken but doctor felt I would be better going home with pain killers and visiting A&E following morning. Wow!!! What a difference, from reception to diagnosis service was first class. It was a breath of fresh air. I was given attentive, polite and very precise diagnosis-seen the doctor who again was great and I am now receiving treatment which I am confident will heal my shoulders. Well done, New Cross.

  10. Review titled Thorough and prompt attention

Referred via NHS 111 when unable to get GP appt. Had painful mid ear infection. Seen for initial assessment within a few minutes. Follow up treatment after reasonable wait. A thorough history taking and examination an antibiotic prescription was sent to my local pharmacy. All staff involved were pleasant and engaging.
