  1. Review titled No real guidance

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 November 2024

I was referred to the ladybird clinic for an ultrasound appointment this week, following symptoms at two separate gp appointments a couple of weeks prior. The appointment was late to start by about an hour. I was really worried about the appointment and attended alone. The lady who saw me seemed dismissive and unfriendly. After an examination she explained their only purpose was to rule out breast cancer and there was no offer for an ultrasound or any other support. Back to square one.

I came to your Nuclear Medicine unit, which was the first time I’d been to your hospital. Coming off the car park walkway, I asked one of your staff to point me in the right direction.. he promptly turned round, said he’d show me, and escorted me all the way to the ward - what a lovely welcome to your hospital. The brilliant service continued in the ward. All the members of staff I encountered showed dedication to helping me, were polite, helpful and compassionate, and undertook their treatment of me with efficiency and friendliness. My first visit to Poole Hospital as I’ve said - but I was so impressed; it showed how much your staff care. Thank you so much to everyone involved on my visit.

  3. Review titled Thank you to Endoscopy Unit Poole General Hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I brought my mother for a gastroscopy today. She'd had a previous bad experience of this procedure several years ago and was very nervous. All the staff in this department were kind, understanding and helpful and went above what was expected. I'd just like to say thank you.

  4. Review titled A lasting impression

My sincere thanks to the A&E team at Poole General Hospital. The general working ethos was summed up by a young nurse. Brimming with enthusiasm she expressed her and her colleagues attitude towards their profession as, " We love our job and love making people better!" Thank you to the receptionist for kindly supplying me with food and drink and caring for my welfare. She was an angel! Not least of course thank you to the lady Doctor for her utmost professionalism and sensitivity and putting the joy back into my heart. It is heart warming to know these people are there for us twenty four seven. So grateful.

  6. Review titled Medical staff great

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Whilst my stay was during a quieter period (only had to wait 6 hours!) I really must voice my concern about the inner waiting room called the blue room. It is an intimidatingly tiny side room which when I was placed in there had one seat left which was fortunately near the open window. It is for 6 patients but some patients had partners with them who were eventually told to go to the main waiting room much to the dismay of the patients. A nurse administered a cannula to me in this room with everyone watching which I found uncomfortable with and then two of us were put on drips in there again not at all a satisfactory procedure. There was no privacy in the blue room and sharing with other ill people in a such close and very warm atmosphere meant there was a good chance of coming out of A&E with more than you went in with. I do understand the need to house people at busy times but this really is not the answer!!

great endoscopy team. Went in for an odg, the dr leading the procedure was efficient and friendly, the two female doctors (brown and blonde hair) were wonderful. Comforting and reassuring, a credit to the NHS.

Attended Urgent Care with a friend who had fallen over. Everyone we met was kind and communicative and acted with respect and professionalism. The waiting time was satisfactory and we were kept informed of next steps.
