Review titled I could not fault the team that looked after me
by Jacs17 - Posted on 20 February 2023
I was in for a lumpectomy and lymph node removal. I was a day case. I was admitted into Pilgrim Hospital at 7:30am for this procedure and I was seen by everyone quickly and by 4 pm I was well enough to be able to go home. The nursing care was good with lots of caring nurses, the anaesthetists stuck in my mind as they were absolutely fantastic! All the procedures were explained fully and with so much care. I was able to ask any questions and they happily answered these to my full satisfaction. I felt like a special person due to their care and support. They made me feel like royalty! I could not fault the team that looked after me.

Review titled Covid breeding ground

Until the x-ray department provide adequate ventilation in the waiting room I won't be returning. 20 people all breathing the same air is another pandemic waiting to happen. An orderly was brazenly walking about with his mask below his nose. Utter stupidity.

Review titled Having my breast removed
by Chrissybim - Posted on 06 March 2023
I had a mastectomy 15 years ago on my right breast and I was in hospital for a week until my drain was removed. I was well treated but nursed as a very sick patient. When I had my left breast removed this Thursday because of another tumour it was so different. The day ward was relaxed and friendly and all the persons involved in my treatment came to see me and check I knew what was happening. When I woke I could not believe that it was all over. I knew nothing and had to ask if it was done. I then had a cup of tea and the most delicious sandwich on the ward. The staff from the surgeon to the University student nurse were wonderful. I went home that day elated that it had all gone so well. I am still getting wonderful aftercare. Thank you all for giving me my life back.

Review titled Felt the rheumatogist was rude
by Angrymama - Posted on 30 January 2023
I went for an appointment about my knees, hips and ankle pain I have been experiencing and I found the doctor to be very rude. They asked me questions that were nothing to do with my problem, questions about my personal life which made me cry. They laughed at one of my responses and then questioned me further, which I found very inappropriate. They started doing an examination of me and when finished they basically said there was nothing wrong me and I just need to lose weight and then the problems will go away.

Supposed appointment call at 9, yet phone didn’t even ring and they put the phone down. No call back. Had been waiting 6 months for this appointment. Very disappointed at this poor service.

Review titled The service I received was excellent and professional
by C Blossom - Posted on 17 January 2023
I only had a telephone consultation with my GP to discuss my issue and from this I was referred to Boston gynaecology for further investigations. With all the bad press regarding long waiting lists I was amazed to receive a letter from the hospital regarding the referral just 3 days later. I phoned the hospital on the the following day and had an appointment for the next. I arrived in good time for a 4pm appointment and by 4pm I was in with the doctor & trainee discussing my problem. The doctor listened attentively, asked questions and then explain what investigation were going to take place. I was taken to an examination room and was introduced to a team of three nurses/assistants who put me at my ease and everything was done in a very relaxed manner. I was reassured that the door was locked and that no one was going to unexpectantly burst in. The doctor spoke to me throughout the examination and procedures, explaining what was going to happen and what to expect at each step. Afterwards she explained what her conclusions were, what she thought my problem was and, subject to a scan, what she would be recommending to alleviate my current discomfort. The service I received was excellent and professional and every opportunity was made to put me at my ease and deal with what many would consider an embarrassing/difficult problem. Many thanks to all involved. Keep up the good work.

Review titled Same day emergency care unit
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Michelle - Posted on 17 January 2023
This is the nicest ward I have ever been on. All of the staff are so caring , professional and very and protect your privacy and dignity as much as possible. You go for scans bloods and see surgical or medical doctors with results there and then. The Comfy seats make such a difference as you are ther a while whilest waiting for all tests, and they provide food and drinks for you. The hcsw nurses and receptionists teal all so lovely and look after you so well. It so clean and they clean all equipment between patients. There was medical students today and they were wonderful teaching them taking bloods and observations It feels calm and you feel reassured and all your worries and questions are answered. I am so impressed and this ward should be proud of the service they give.

by Paris - Posted on 07 January 2023
Went to a&e with bad morning sickness couldn’t keep anything down for days. Was seen to by a lovely nurse can’t remember her name but she was a sister, on (5/1/23) at 12.30pm. Was only there for half an hour before being admitted to ward 1b. She made me feel at ease and she was so nice just can’t remember her name. Thank you

Came too early for my orthopaedic surgery, but everything was prepared. The accommodation and staff kindness was very fast and helpful. Everything was perfect. Service was 10/10. I don't understand those who complain. 100% satisfaction.
