Review titled I have received a 100% positive care package from day one
by plusfh66 - Posted on 02 March 2023
I lost my son in March 2020, he took his life at 21. About a year later I started getting different bowel movements and I thought it might be IBS. Things got worse, and it got to the stage where I couldn't be far from a toilet. Contacted my GP in September 2021, and he ran some tests which ended with a camera up my rectum. They found a tumour in my rectum. Couldn’t believe it. But after losing my son, it didn’t faze me, and soon got my head around being positive. Treatment started January 2022. I had a temporary stoma fitted at Grantham hospital. End of March I had 5 weeks of Radio and Chemotherapy at Lincoln hospital. Then in the summer I had a further 12 weeks of Chemotherapy. It was a bit of a journey up to this point. But was positive throughout, which helped greatly. After a couple of MRI and CT scans, I was sent to Boston Royal infirmary to have the tumour removed in December 2022. The Consultants were very happy with the procedure. They told me there was no follow up treatment required. Just before Christmas I received a fantastic phone call telling me I was Cancer free. I am now in the middle of 12 weeks of Chemotherapy. I think they call it mopping up or belt and braces. I have received a 100% positive care package from day one. Everything I was told would happen. Did. And it happened on the date and time I was given. All staff that I have come into contact with, have been wonderful and caring. I carry on with my journey.

Review titled Anxiety about hysterectomy
by microscopiumjj37 - Posted on 11 April 2023
Pre operation morning. I was terrified and my anxiety had gone through the roof. I pre warned staff at my MRSA , height and weight pre check how terrified I was and would be. On arrival to the ward they would not allow my husband in because I was in a women's only ward. It took an awful lot of convincing for me to enter the ward. I couldn't cope with being surrounded by other people and was moved into an isolated room and left. This didn't help my anxiety and I had to have additional sedation before going into surgery. If the staff had listened and let my husband stay to keep me calm this wouldn't have happened. On the positive, the surgery and post operation care was amazing and all staff worked really hard to help and support me.

Dear microscopiumjj Thank you for taking time to share your experience, we are sorry that we were not able to meet your specific needs prior to surgery. Routinely patients do not come to Ward 1B prior to their operation and as such nursing staff were adhering to our usual ward visiting restrictions which in your case was not appropriate or caring. Please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of myself and the nursing team on Ward 1B. Regards Michelle Caldwell Ward Sister 1B Women’s Health

Review titled Chatty and friendly

I was made to feel cared about from the moment I walked through the door, it is always nerve racking having a procedure done, but the nurses, the medical student and the doctor were chatty and friendly.

Review titled Brilliant from start to finish
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Vicky Soutar - Posted on 25 February 2023
This was our 3rd time for our son to have an operation. The children’s ward is fantastic, knowing what’s coming by the 3rd visit he likes it so much it’s like a day out. Everyone is so friendly and caring. The team down in theatre are second to non and they deserve the biggest praise of all, to see your child laughing, having fun and completely unaware before being put to sleep is so comforting. Everyone we have met on all 3 occasions have been brilliant and although it’s far from where we live, I don’t mind not using our local hospital as knowing how good the service is here I’m happy to return.

Review titled Kind, gentle, and efficient
by Furphy100 - Posted on 17 February 2023
From arriving to leaving, my treatment took 45 mins. The ultra sound ladies were kind, gentle, and efficient. The staff on the Women's ward were also welcoming, helpful and explained everything with simplicity, making it easy to understand when feeling worried. I felt comfortable and less anxious, thanks to the team.

Review titled No contact made from Cardiology
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 March 2023
Having waited for months for an appointment with Cardiology I finally received a letter saying I would be contacted by phone on 25/2/2023. This was followed up by a text message reminder a couple of days before the call was due. I am still waiting for that call as it didn't happen. I cannot get through to department, hospital, appointment line etc. Have left a message on the secretaries phone but still no response. This is an utter disgrace. Patients should not be treated like this. I now have no idea what to do and it is causing me further anxiety on top of feeling so unwell with the initial symptoms that have led to my referral in the first place.

Review titled Very caring and professional
by Friend of hospital - Posted on 20 February 2023
I was admitted to hospital on the daycare ward for a hysteroscopy polypectomy and endometrial biopsy after being seen as an outpatient at Pilgrim Hospital. All the staff in that department were kind and caring. All nursing, doctors and recovery staff explained everything to me about my procedure and aftercare in easily understood dialogue After my procedure I was very well cared for until I was allowed to go home. I was given advice on aftercare and numbers to contact if needed. Although I was nervous I couldn't fault my care and would like to thank everyone who cared for me. Pilgrim Hospital were very caring and professional. The hospital was spotlessly clean.

Review titled I was treated with absolute perfection
by Janh - Posted on 01 December 2023
I am rather late writing this comment but since I was admitted to Admissions at -The Pilgrim Hospital Boston Lincs- early February in 23. I broke my hip and ended up in ICU etc. On the early days of February, I was taken to hospital after spending two days on my floor needing help. I was told one thing I had was Hypothermia I was taken to admissions at the Pilgrim and was treated with absolute perfection. I came to the following morning, asked what day it was and was told. I was shocked and said it was my birthday then. The staff where wonderful and came into the ward—it looked like all of them! — singing Happy Birthday. They carried a cake for me. Also, a young man had just been from Pharmacy. He went off and suddenly, a few minutes later, he came running into the ward and wished me happy birthday, apologising for not doing it earlier! Two nurses even gave me something I needed. The whole ward were wonderful and I am sorry I am late with this comment. Thank you, all of you. If all wards were like yours, it would be perfect. God Bless You.
