  1. Review titled Put me at ease

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 July 2024

I attended for an MRI scan but due to claustrophobia was very nervous. I required the wide bore scanner with a mirror. I spoke to the receptionist who immediately spoke to the gentlemen who was going to scan me. He took me into the requested scanner and went out of his way to source the mirror and make comfortable. All in all a procedure I was dreading turned into a very bearable experience because of this gentleman.

  3. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Winfield - Posted on 19 July 2024

My son was in the children's ward ( e40 ) after having spinal surgery, every single member of staff that looked after him for five days was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and our stay during a very worrying time was made so much easier by their wonderful care and attention.

  5. Review titled Data protection / Diversity and inclusion

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 July 2024

Not great for confidentiality around personal data that everyone in the waiting room heard my name, date of birth and address / and conversely I heard theirs. Also felt the person on reception was amused, made a point of asking my gender and seemed to be confused. Maybe there could be more d&i training for frontline staff. It was upsetting/surprising to feel scrutinised for being lgbt+ when seeking urgent care. This is a common experience for some lgbt+ people but consider NHS values of treating people with dignity - does this extend to all people?

I went to the spinal ward on d9 with my friend, the staff that we saw was polite, kept us well informed and all round made us feel welcome and in good care, other hospitals could learn a lot from them

  7. Review titled Fantastic Team at A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Siu Kwan Chau - Posted on 20 June 2024

I couldn't wait longer to express my sincere thanks to the Adult Emergency Department! My sister rushed me to the A&E last Friday, 14 June 2024 (arriving around 3pm) as I had been suffering from chest pain and palpitation. I am particularly grateful for the perseverance of the Doctor in charge of my case in pursuing the possible cause of my medical issues and solutions. His follow through during the weekend to give updated medical advice over the phone based on the medical report was heartedly appreciated! My experience in the A&E has best illustrated to me the superior team work and dedication of different medical staff in the Department! The Assistant in A&E volunteered to the Doctor as a translator for Cantonese has facilitated more effective communication with the Doctor; the nurse who did the Early Assessment 1, was so gentle and empathetic, and sought help from a translator to best understand my issues. Another doctor followed up on Monday, and sent the letter to the GP again for further management. (I would have been most delighted to express my gratitude to the doctors and medical staff by mentioning their names here but for the restrictions of the Review Policy!)

  8. Review titled Wait times are not representative of a developed country.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 June 2024

We went in with a 2yo boy and a head trauma, its extent unknown since no qualified doctor looked at it. After 4 hours wait we were told that there might be another 4 before we are seen. We are now back home, hoping that nothing serious has happened. How is it acceptable to have 8 hours wait time for a head trauma?

Dear patient, I am so sorry to hear of your experience in our hospitals we know that any waits can be so frustrating when you are indeed worried. Please be assured that patients are seen as soon as soon as possible by an appropriately trained clinician, however if a critically unwell patient attends, we would have to prioritise that emergency and sometimes that means the waiting times can increase. Please be assured that the staff in the department monitor the children who present there constantly and if you needed assistance while waiting you would have a whole medical team on hand to assist you if needed. If you still feel your child needs reviewing please present them to the nearest A&E or get them assessed by a GP as soon as possible. Kind regards, J Morgan - Matron of Childrens Emergency department

  9. Review titled qmc Nottingham a&e - Check on your wait time.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Andy - Posted on 17 June 2024

I had a fall and hurt my chest and hand as breathing was very painful and difficult, I came to a&e. They took my details and asked me to sit and wait to be called. The screen in front of me wasn't working, so I didn't spot wait time ... but for an injury, it said 2 hours (which I spotted 3 hours in). I gave it another hour, then as my breathing had improved and swelling on hand not too bad, I asked reception to take me off the list as I was going home. Only to be told that I wasn't on the list!... With me registering I was worried about my breathing, this could have been worse. It was fairly busy, so I didn't want to hassle about my wait time ... turns out I should! I was very disappointed and I could have been waiting for hours.

  10. Review titled Great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by william gordon - Posted on 20 June 2024

Once again I had to attend ward C25 for nasal surgery. The care from everyone from the porters, ward staff, anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre staff and recovery room staff was superb. The sister in the recovery room deserves an extra mention as the care, empathy and efficiency given was exemplary. Thank you very much to everyone.
