  1. Review titled Non availability of Public Telephones

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Brian Farrell - Posted on 06 November 2022

I recently spent 15 hours in A&E and afterwards went to the Hospital main reception area hoping to be able to find a Public Telephone to call for a cab to take me home; I don't own a mobile. When I was last at the Hospital several years ago I remember that of the three payphones in the reception area one was totally missing another had a smashed handset receiver and the third had a sign stating "Out of use". I was amazed to find that in all that time the situation remained the same, with one slight change, the option to use a free line to call a nominated cab firm no longer remained. I was trapped in a public Hospital with no way of getting home. The reception desk staff member was totally disinterested and said she could not help me, shrugged her shoulders and said "vandals". I related my memories of the previous visit years before, and got "Well I don't know anything about that, most people use smartphones these days" Finally I went to the Moorfields Clinic where again there was no Payphone, but two helpful lady Receptionists rang the cab company for me. It amazes me that Northwick Park hospital is unprepared to have working Payphones for patients use, surely a unique situation in the United Kingdom.

  2. Review titled Outstanding experience on Frederick Salmon Ward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2022

We would like to thank all the staff on Frederick Salmon Ward from the Consultant to the kitchen. It was a very difference experience to any other ward in the hospital that we have unfortunately had to witness over the years. This place was clean, there was clearly great team work, they treated us and each other with respect, they knew what they were doing, they were there in emergencies, they really seemed to care. Well done to the ward management.

  3. Review titled Fantastic staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lorraine Charlton - Posted on 18 November 2022

My husband had his catheter removed today after an operation to remove his prostate. The nurse in urology day care who removed it made a very nervous patient feel very comfortable. She was amazing from start to finish and excellent at her job. She is a credit to her department. Thankyou for making a stressful episode more relaxing for us.

  4. Review titled Oral Maxillo Facial Surgery Admission Office

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Farah - Posted on 14 November 2022

I have an appointment booked with the Oral Maxillo facial surgery department for my son in January 2023. Although I called and rebooked the appointment and received a confirmation letter. A few days later I received another letter telling me that the appointment had been cancelled. So I tried calling on the given number and no one picks up. I then called the main hospital operator and they too could not get me through to the department. Then I called another number and there was an answering machine which gave 3 more different numbers. Same thing no one picks up and sadly one is a private number and a very annoyed man picked up the phone and said this was his private number and not the hospital number. I am at a loss as to how to get through to this department as it has already taken some time to get the appointment and even now there is so much confusion. I guess the only option I now have is to go and visit the hospital myself and get this sorted out.

  5. Review titled Not a good experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Nihal - Posted on 09 October 2022

I attended accident & emergency of northwick park on saturday 8 oct. as I was having pain in my left arm. I checked in around midday. Within 15 minutes my temperature and pressure was checked by a member of another desk staff and was told to wait for initial assessment when my name will be called. As 3 hours went by and as I still wasn't called, I inquired and I was told by a lady who is outside the desk who inquire from anyone first coming to the desk that wait time is 4 hours. By about 5pm I inquired from the desk when my turn would be to be told there are 8 people in front of me. By 6pm I was told Iam next. I could see patients who were checked in after me getting the treatment and leaving. Finally a doctor called me around 8.15pm, after waiting for over 8 hours. After quick examination I was discharged and within 5 minutes of leaving the hospital I was called back to do further tests! From then onwards it took another three and a half hours for further tests though that I must say were swift, and the doctors and staff were exceptional. Finally I was discharged around 11.30 after more than 11 hours from my initial checking in. This is the first time I have ever waited in any accident & emergency of a hospital in United Kingdom for more than 8 hours before being assessed initially.

  6. Review titled Messed up with my appointment time and day.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 October 2022

I have high risk pregnancy and heart condition very serious. very disappointed on maternity unit. As I’m now 31 week pregnant and nobody spoke with me what delivery should I have and what medication I’m not allowed to take in my time of labiour. I have to be mentally prepared for delivery and it feels like nobody cares. I genuinely scared and don’t know what to do. Because time is coming.. and today 10-10-22 they messed up with my appointment for obstetrics… I’m stressing a lot. I genuinely don’t recommend you this hospital.

  7. Review titled Understaffed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 October 2022

It is shockingly understaffed. The staff are doing the best they can but they are far and few between. The nurse looking after my 92 year old nan didn't put her drip on, and was too rushed to come back and put it on when notified. After being in A&E for 12 hours, the nurse on the new shift couldn't understand why the drip bag hadn't emptied and even had to call the previous nurse at home to ask. We stated multiple times that at first it wasn't even connected and then it was not turned on. Really bad.

  8. Review titled Excellent care at Northwick Park A and E for my elderly mother

by SHip - Posted on 25 October 2022

My 78 year old mother and I went into A and E in Northwick Park last week due to her high blood pressure. From the minute we arrived, we were treated with kindness and consideration by all staff, from the receptionist and the welcome staff at the door to the two highly competent doctors who eventually assessed my mother. It is clear that the services are very much under pressure in the hospital but the staff at A and E are nothing short of amazing. They are patient, attentive and showed genuine regard for my rather stressed mother. The doctor who saw us was helpful and acted immediately. The nurses who did the assessment were sensitive and reassuring at all times despite the enormous pressure they were facing that night. The young doctor who carried out my mother’s blood test and assessment was exceptional: thorough, kind and professional at all times, she was able to assist us in every possible way. She even managed to find a comfortable place for my mother to wait for her blood test results. I am truly grateful to her and all her colleagues. I saw this many times over that night in the way that all the staff treated patients, with real diligence, compassion and regard for each person’s individual needs. It is clear that these are tough times for the hospital but the staff here are excellent and going above and beyond to serve the community. Thank you.

  9. Review titled Lack of Mask Wearing

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 October 2022

I was really disappointed to see so many staff, patients and visitors not wearing masks particularly in a hospital. I am immunosuppressed and this is really worrying. I expected people to be wearing masks in a hospital and I don’t understand why people are not wearing masks.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. The Trust updates it's Mask Wearing Policy in line with guidance from NHS England. Currently staff wear masks in clinical areas but mask wearing for staff and patients is optional in communal areas. Kind Regards Pippa Kashmiry - Patient Experience Lead
