  1. Review titled Very happy with the support received

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Had to take my father to A&E twice recently and was impressed with the friendliness and kindness of the staff, even on a very busy day. Very happy with the care he received.

  3. Review titled Appointment letter problems

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 July 2024

I have been trying to get a 72hr ecg done since last August (2023) we are not coming up to August 2024 and still no ecg completed. Due to 5 failed appointments due to letters not arriving. I have spoken to them specifically about this and they admitted it has been an issue with Royal Mail, and offered to call me when I'm rebooked. Well no call, and no help when chasing them up. Relieved a letter today to say I've failed to attend an appointment last week that I was never informed of. This makes it the 6th failed attempt to get the 72hr ecg done in a year, due to a failure to inform patients of appointments. Which can be done so simply by SMS, email or the NHS app which never seemed to e a problem at my former hospital. I never usually write reviews but since this is about my cardiac health and considering I have a worsening heart condition really annoys me that something so simple seems impossible to out.

  4. Review titled Couldn’t fault the care and attention

    by Tony1 - Posted on 27 July 2023

Was admitted 5 days ago to Phoenix ward, was looked after very well by a great team - both nurses, tea staff (cups could be bigger ) and cleaners - couldn’t fault the care and attention, thank you.

  5. Review titled Medoc

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anne - Posted on 11 July 2023

I know how busy Medoc gets and the waits are usually horrendous. On Sunday it was reasonably busy, the staff were so kind and helpful. I did have a very long wait but was triaged, seen and given blood thinners and an appointment for a doppler scan yesterday. Seen straight away and had the scan. Ultrasound staff were very kind. Went back to a very packed waiting area and called reasonably quickly, obviously I was there just for a scan result. Seen by very pleasant nurses and was reassured no DVT. I have had not so pleasant experiences in the past but I felt the morale of the staff was high this time considering the pressures of working in such a busy department.

  6. Review titled Excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by SharonS - Posted on 29 July 2023

Attending Day Surgery Urology. Receptionist was lovely, warm personality and ensured everyone attending was taken care of. She reassured patients with empathy, assisted, spoke to each patient by first name. A definite asset to department and hospital. When I went through to prepare for procedure, met by staff, who explained what I needed to do and used humour, much needed as at this point nerves start to take over. When I went in for procedure, I met the Urologist, we went through history of my symptoms and explained results of my scan. He again was professional, yet calming, again much needed as I am a wimp. Once assisted again by his assistant the procedure carried out under local, the urologist explaining what I could see on screen. He again a real asset to team and hospital. After procedure, he explained what actions were necessary, symptoms I may experience and how to deal with them. From xray department to urology day surgery department all I have is praise. Both were very busy departments yet both treated patients with with kindness and respect

  9. Review titled Worst experience every time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 June 2023

This Hospital needs complete overall of its performance through an independent audit. Most of the staff are careless, impolite and uninterested to take patient seriously. Looks like they are not trained properly. I visited the A&E three times so far and every time I noticed the same lack of professionalism from nurses to doctors besides long waiting times. Patient seem to be their least priority. I will travel farther but never to this hospital again.

  10. Review titled Patient-focused, kind and responsive

by Kazlet - Posted on 23 June 2023

I saw the consultant at Medway Maritime, but as I live and work in East Kent I asked for the follow-up with Orthotics to be at Kent and Canterbury. The consultant works for East Kent but was doing extra clinics at Medway to deal with the backlog. He said that should be fine, but to ring his secretary to arrange this. I rang his secretary who was super helpful. She found me on the system and said it shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately as the consultant used Medway's referral form, I was sent an appointment for Medway Orthotics. I phoned them and they said they couldn't change it, the consultant would need to change the referral. I rang his secretary again. She was once again super helpful and said she'd print out the details so he could refer me to Kent and Canterbury and she'd phone me once it was arranged. I want to thank the consultant and his secretary. They are both great and a wonderful representation of how the NHS should be - patient-focused, kind and responsive.
