  1. Review titled Amazing practice in the A&E department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 January 2023

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the staff in the A&E department! I was seen in triage straight away. The waiting room was full however I was seen by a doctor within a few hours, scans etc... The doctor I saw was very thorough and I just felt very grateful for every single member of staff and wanted this to be shared! You do an amazing job!

I have visited leighton hospital for 3 outpatient appointments in the last month. Urology and gynaecology and I’ve got to say how fantastic you all are. It cannot be easy right now in this current climate. From the receptionist to the nurses and specialists. You all made my experience a whole lot better. Every one I came across was professional yet friendly. I think you’re all wonderful!

  4. Review titled Caring help from Patients' Helpline

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Barbara Coombs - Posted on 28 December 2022

I just want to say what caring and wonderful help I had from the lady on the patients’ help line when trying to track down where my Mum was in Leighton after she had been admitted to A and E. She appreciated my anxiety and did all she could to help me, including giving me her name and number so I could call her back.

During the Bank Holidays over the Christmas period I had to use 111 and the out of hours GP service. The care was fantastic and the staff were all reassuring and caring. Thank you!

  6. Review titled Fantastic team work in Leighton Ambulatory Care Unit (A C U)

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Annie Driver - Posted on 29 December 2022

My husband and I spent 36 hours in A C U over four days, during the run up to Christmas, where he was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour. Further investigations were co-ordinated by the consultant and advanced clinical practitioners in A C U including endocrinology and ophthalmology consultants, M R I and more C T scans and a range of bloods. There was ongoing liaison with the neurosurgery team at Royal Stoke University Hospital. A C U is a haven of calm, efficient teamwork where the staff are caring towards the patients and towards each other. The fact that it is your base, and you go away for tests then come back (even to the same chair) becomes your comfort blanket and helps you manage what is a stressful situation. I can’t praise this team enough for all their support and thoroughness in the diagnostics, whilst managing a busy unit with many other worried patients. What upset me deeply were other patients, who grumbled and complained about, what to us were relatively short waits, and worse…the patient who under her breath was abusive and dismissive of the nurses’ diligent and conscientious work. Thank you A C U

  7. Review titled Nothing short of fantastic!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Thomas White - Posted on 07 December 2022

I was rushed into A&E on the 17th November with excruciating abdominal pains, within seconds of arrival i was rushed through in a for triage as well as being provided pain relief, the staff were so reassuring and efficient at what they were doing, after blood tests, antibiotics and a CT scan it was discovered that I had acute appendicitis. I was admitted to a nice quite ward (11) with really friendly and caring staff, who were great not only with myself but other patients on the ward, the following morning i was taken to surgery for the appendix to be removed, the whole process was daunting but again the surgeons and aftercare staff were fantastic, 2 more days on the ward and i was discharged with suitable medication/pain relief. I cannot rate the staff highly enough for the care/knowledge and support provided during my time there.

  8. Review titled Fantastic postnatal care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rosalind - Posted on 30 November 2022

The maternity services at Leighton are truly amazing. I was readmitted to hospital with my two week son - and absolutely everyone, from the midwives and wonderful infant feeding team through to the consultants and cleaners were so caring, knowledgeable and reassuring. Me, my husband and my son will be forever grateful for their care and I would recommend Leighton’s maternity services to anyone.

  9. Review titled Need empathy training!

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 October 2022

I went for my first mammogram recently, and felt the need to make comment about the complete lack of empathy or friendliness from the radiographer. I'm a 52 year old woman and I've had plenty of dealings over the years with various medical professionals, but never have I come across anyone so rude. I was trying my best to go where I needed to be in the machine to get the best readings, but every time I messed up, the radiographer was puffing and blowing at me, quite obviously irritated and impatient. It was the first time I have done this and I was a little apprehensive, but she was so rude to me, if I were a different kind of person, it would put me off going back. I appreciate that staff are busy, but this particular radiographer needs some additional training in people skills.

  10. Review titled Very kind Phlebotomy Manager!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kaelynn - Posted on 05 October 2022

Came into Leighton to see about getting blood tests after being told by my GPs receptionist that they can't help with private care. Despite not being able to get the tests, they were kind and supportive and helped me explore the correct routes. Really put me at ease and they were extremely respectful of preferred pronouns and name.
