  2. Review titled Great care - Iris Ward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I underwent lumbar decompression within the neurosurgery department, staying in Iris Ward before and after the procedure. I was treated with great care and understanding, by very experienced and kind staff. It was a very good experience, with the surgery being performed expertly without any complications and the after care was exceptional. I am very pleased that I had my procedure in this hospital.

  3. Review titled Absolutely appalling

My brother-in-law was taken by ambulance last night as an emergency (over 12 hours ago) and he is still waiting to see a Dr as I am writing this. He is 76 years old, my sister is with him who is 75 years old. We are living in a 3rd world country now. Absolutely disgusting.

  5. Review titled Excellent Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Jackson - Posted on 03 November 2022

I was recently a patient in both High Dependency Unit and Iris Ward following an Ivor Lewis procedure. I was treated by all staff with the upmost respect and dignity. Both my Consultant and Anesthetist kept me well informed about what my surgery would entail and what I should do to assist my recovery. The whole Surgery /Anesthetist teams were excellent. The nursing staff provided first class service and were very supportive and professional. They explained in detail the various tasks they were undertaking and their purpose. I also found the Physiotherapy staff to be very helpful and understanding. Their help and advice gave me confidence to undertake various activities to assist my mobility. My whole hospital experience was very positive and the aftercare arrangements are continuing in the same way.

  6. Review titled Awful! Worse Hospital I've ever been to!!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jay - Posted on 11 October 2022

I arrived around 18:00 pm on Monday 10th August 2022 with my 10 month old baby with me, I am the patient. I was referred regarding potential spinal compression and I am on crutches. I am writing this review on Tuesday 11th August 2022 at 06:50 am and I have still not been seen by a doctor! The staff have been disorganised, uninformed, unprofessional, callous, and misleading. I've been rudely and incorrectly redirected from one queue to the next, with no accountability taken for the initial delay this caused or the pain and inconvenience i endured moving around more than required when in so much pain and with mobility issues. I have spent over 12 hours total in the hospital with my child and have not even been seen yet!! The wait time has continuously been extended whilst I sat here, and at this rate I could have gone to any other hospital in London despite the journey, would have been seen, and either would be recieving treatment or be back at home by now! This is ridiculous! And to be told there was only 1 doctor working for hundreds of patients is shocking. Theres a clear disregard here for service standard, user impact, health and safety and care SLA's. I am quite literally stuck here because of the amount of time I've already spent here but I will simply never come here again! I came here as a service user in need of emergency care, but theres absolutely no emergency approach with this timeframe. I came here to get help and instead the service have simply added inconvenience and forget distress to my pain and have negatively impacted my young baby who has slept in a cold waiting room all night staying with me as I have been told medically that I must be seen today for my safety and internally given no other option apart from being told that I must sit here and wait over half a day, and that I couldn't pop home with baby despite a 10-12 hr wait time or is be removed from the list! How horrible. I'm still sat here waiting now and have no idea when I'll be seen. This has been an extremely upsetting experience. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'm in a worse condition now than when I first came here.

  7. Review titled No Initial person to enter urgent care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Roshni Chauhan - Posted on 20 September 2022

We arrive at the hospital at 8:10pm, there was no reception staff to manage the entrance, so we queued to go to urgent care services, only after 45mins of queuing, suddenly a nurse and security appeared and asked all people in the queue to move back to reception to register to be seen. As this caused chaos, people lost their place to be seen, as other people pushed in. This made our wait in a&e longer. I was there with my 5 year old child who was the patient. The staff at reception and security had no idea what they were doing. Why was the desk to receive people into urgent care left unattended for 45mins to only cause extra delays! Some needs to ensure that staff are scheduled properly to cover breaks too. Once in the initial nurse was ok. The initial assessment room was good, the nurse there helped us a few times change my daughters bleeding thumb dressing from 9pm to midnight. This thumb has been bleeding from 7pm. The doctor who saw us was amazing.

  9. Review titled No one answers telephones

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 September 2022

I have been trying to call King George's switchboard and CT department to check the status of a scan appointment for my mother for tomorrow. Impossible to do when no one answers a ringing phone. My mum has dementia and thinks the appointment has been cancelled, I don't think it has been cancelled. How am I supposed to check when it is impossible to get a response on the contact numbers provided?
