  1. Review titled Neglect

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anne Ravenscroft - Posted on 08 February 2024

My 80 year old husband was admitted to a respiratory ward with pneumonia. He also lives with Alzheimer's and deafness. For 7 days he received Intravenous antibiotics which made discharge back to his High Dependancy Care Home impossible. He returned to the Care Home with what I would call exfoliated skin in his ground and inner thighs plus very red, sore buttocks. His personnal care seems to have been severely neglected. I am also concerned that when I visited the outer ward doors were invariably left open and he could have wandered out. He had a Deprivation of Liberty order in force at the Care Home and I made the ward aware of this and asked that it be recorded in his notes. While staff showed kindness at all times while I was present, I am concerned for patients with Dementia being admitted without adequate personal care.

Dear Maternity Staff Team, As I sit here in the maternity ward, surrounded by the comforting buzz of this busy environment, I am moved to express my deepest appreciation for the extraordinary care and support I have received from each and every one of you here at Ipswich Hospital. From the moment I arrived, filled with excitement and a touch of nervousness, your warmth and professionalism have been a source of immense comfort. Every member of the maternity staff, from the nurses to the doctors to the administrative team, has gone above and beyond to ensure that my experience here has been nothing short of exceptional. In the midst of the whirlwind of emotions that accompany bringing a new life into the world, your unwavering dedication has been a beacon of reassurance. Your expertise, coupled with your kindness and empathy, has made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel manageable and even joyous. I am continually amazed by the little touches of kindness and compassion that you extend to not only me but also to my family. 6. Review titled Fantastic Team!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julie Ashton - Posted on 12 January 2024

I was admitted to Ipswich Hospital Cardiac ward on Tuesday night having experienced distressing symptoms of bradycardia. The whole team there are absolutely amazing, nothing is too much trouble and in trying circumstances everyone was unfailingly polite and helpful. The lead consultant was so kind and reassuring and spent time every day listening to people's concerns and acting upon them. The nurses were top notch and cared around the clock. The food was actually really good and the catering staff visiting you is definitely a highlight of the day. The pacemaker team is also superbly efficient and friendly, putting everyone at ease. I was discharged today but didn't want to take up anyone's valuable time so instead I will say here thank you for being so outstanding...from the bottom of my heart (now working again thanks to you!)

  7. Review titled Treatment Above & Beyond

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We had excellent treatment and were looked after extremely well whilst having been referred to Gynae/Oncology department at Ipswich Hospital All the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and despite the department being extremely busy all our needs were fulfilled. The Lead Gynea/ Oncology nurse specialist was instrumental in getting our surgery expedited and everything went smoothly. The surgical team were superb. Please pass on our best wishes and thanks to all the staff involved.

  8. Review titled Ipswich Hospital A golden nugget don’t lose it !

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This my second cataract surgery appointment and I would be happy to have many more but I only have two eyes. Joking apart ; Sight is perhaps our most important senses and the thought of someone taking a scalpel to your eyes is somewhat frightening. However we have a health service which we know we can trust and is free at the point of delivery. Something which is often quoted and something that is very true. Seven weeks ago I had my first consultation at the ophthalmology department at Ipswich Hospital. A month ago I had my first cataract surgery. Today I had my second and final surgery. The care I have received has been absolutely fantastic. Professionalism by all members of healthcare staff from consultants to porters can not be faulted all were very helpful and respectful. In my case everything was explained and all questions were answered in laymen’s terms. Appointments were initially by verbal agreement confirmed by a letter and then a text reminder the week before. There was also a telephone call A few days before requesting relevant information about your current state of health and if you had received any changes your stated medication and finally, how you were going to get home and a contact number for that transport, as you would not be able to drive for a recommended three hours. Nothing was left out. I have nothing but praise for our wonderful Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust. From what I could see of the staff, they are all working flat out, no one was stood doing nothing. We in the UK don’t realise how privileged we are to have such a service. So we should look after it before we lose it. Thank You all you lovely caring people you have my admiration, always. I had an ecocardiogram on the 17th of November 2023. I have not had the results sent to my GP yet. Today 1st of February 2024 I first called my GP who said they have not recieved my results and told me to call the cardiac unit which I have done. It seems you are not taking any calls at present I will have to put my details and questions to the answer phone. What has happened to good helpfule patient practice, I only want to know the results of the test? Maureen Dorks

  10. Review titled Tremendous experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jamie Monckton - Posted on 02 January 2024

I could not speak more highly of our recent experience at Ipswich hospital. Facilities were great, but what really made the experience was the absolutely excellent staff. We had an elective c-section booked in on Dec 19th. Upon arrival we were greeted and ushered to our ward, which was spacious and comfortable. We were visited by several nurses / midwives / doctors who were unbelievably kind and informative. There was a constant flow of attention and information, meaning we were never wondering what was next. This was particularly helpful and comforting during this quite nervous time. When it was time to be taken upstairs we were largely looked after the anesthetist who was a superstar through the entire process. Kind, caring, informative and professional. We were very impressed by him. We were taken into the theatre and the procedure was carried out. There was an issue with low blood pressure which was taken care of quickly. The doctor assistant to the anesthetist was great during this time. Throughout the entire procedure, all doctors/ midwives and nurses were attentive and constantly updating us on what was happening. The main consultant surgeon was excellent. We were taken back to the ward and looked after by the incredible team of midwives and nurses. They were nothing short of incredible. Truly wonderful staff. Absolutely amazing. From start to finish we were impressed by the hospital and its staff. The staff really were phenomenal and we would highly recommend to our friends and families. A great experience. Thank you!
