  1. Review titled Delays and Poor Communication

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Mary S - Posted on 21 November 2022

Endless delays at every stage of the process, appalling communication. Whether it´s waiting for an appointment, waiting for a consultation summary or for test results (even when they are categorised as"urgent") nothing happens until you phone repeatedly. Systems are very old-fashioned, it´s still letter by post. One consultation summary took 2 months to arrive. This isn´t about money, it´s about lack of organisation and competence. Even the basics are poor: the website doesn´t give the departmental email address.

  4. Review titled The worst experience in hospital

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 October 2022

Unfortunately there isn’t any care anymore was left in a deflated bed after pointing out a problem and no care for toiletry needs or checking of fluid input and output just a tick box exercise. After pointing this out to a nurse nothing was done they are just too busy with not enough staff to take care of basic needs

  5. Review titled Compassionate, Caring and Professional Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Gillian Otter - Posted on 29 October 2022

Attending A&E for 5 hours last night to accompany my partner needing treatment I witnessed excellent working practices while staff supported an older gentleman. The patient was waiting for admission to a ward and presented as very vulnerable with a high level of support needs. At times he became highly agitated and demanding, on occasions shouting, which would have been distressing and upsetting for those people feeling unwell and waiting anxiously for their diagnosis and treatment. Numerous staff at various times gave their support to this gentleman, Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, Police, A&E Receptionists, Porter/ward staff, cleaning staff. I was so impressed by their patience, their caring approaches, the physical and emotional support they provided while continuing to work under extreme pressure in their jobs. I really hope the staff will see and read my review as I want to acknowledge to them all that they are doing such a great job. I`ve visited A&E on many occasions and cannot express enough how very much appreciated the NHS staff are during these very stressful times in life. Thank you for your care and for being so compassionate and professional to us and those vulnerable people who may at times try all our patience.

  6. Review titled Caring professional and kind

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Big thank you to the lovely nurses and Consultant who performed my colonoscopy. I had a previous very bad and painful experience and they did their very best to make it easier for me. They listened to my worries and reassured me. Gave me enough sedative and explained and talked to me through the whole procedure, so while it was painful it was also quite bearable and I felt looked after. I wanted to make these comments to thank these health professionals because I have rarely had good experiences in other departments of Ipswich hospital. Talking to and listening to patients makes so much difference.

  8. Review titled Stour Ward Staff Superb

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 October 2022

I spent 3 nights in hospital unexpectedly, needing IV antibiotics and pain relief and was exceedingly well cared for by all the staff I encountered on Stour ward, from the food delivery folks who did all they could to source meals that weren’t carbohydrate-laden to the junior ENT doctor who was extremely thorough and compassionate - her seniors could learn a lesson in communication and listening properly to patients from her. While nobody wants to be an inpatient, the hard work and good humour of the ward staff made it as positive an experience as it could be.

  9. Review titled Excellent care from friendly staff.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stephen - Posted on 25 September 2022

Visited the eye clinic on Friday 23rd. Friendly introduction to the clinic and check on personal details. Was seen by a Doctor who introduced numbing drops into my eye and then removed metal debris and rust ring with the tiniest of needles. Hospital protocol does not allow me to name the person , however I would like to say thank you to the Doctor who carried out the procedure, they made what could be a stressful and worrying process quite easy for me, I hope it was equally easy for them. Also thanks to the general staff on the ward, it was quite a busy clinic but everyone I spoke with was friendly and easy to talk to. Many thanks and best wishes to the doctor and everyone in that department and the Hospital in general. I also only have good things to say about the Doctor who dealt with my initial visit to a and e on the Thursday and helped with my eye problem, and further referred me to the eye clinic. Thank you to all.

Thank you for your kind comments with regard to the care you have received from the Ophthalmology teams at Ipswich Hospital. We believe it is a great credit to our staff that they provide such a high standard of professional care tailored to the requirements of individuals. We are, of course, proud of this hospital and believe that we are building excellent healthcare and support teams, which have a strong focus on patients’ medical needs, as well as a desire to provide the best possible all round experience. It is particularly satisfying when patients appreciate this standard of care and it does a great deal to encourage and hearten the staff. Once again, many thanks for taking the time to write and I will ensure your comments are passed on to all concerned.
