Used the walk in centre as advised by 111, very rude receptionist, waited 20 mins for triage, moved to seperate area then left for 4 hours with an injured leg, once finally seen by dismissive staff no advice other than if concerned about nerve damage see own GP! Never again! Terrible service

  3. Review titled Reassuring assessment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Graham Knight - Posted on 12 December 2023

My wife had a fall at home and banged her forehead in our kitchen. First call was to the doctor's - our receptionist spoke with a doctor, who advised at a distance ambulance or A & E. We opted for the Haywood because we were impressed with our treatment there during Covid. Car park was a worry because nowhere is the information that there is no charge. Triage took 15-20 minutes, and this was tremendously reassuring. We then waited for just under four hours, but the assessment and advice (second opinion was sought) was professional and worth the wait. Sadly our overriding feeling was that 75% of the patients in the walk-in clinic would have gone to their GPs a decade or so ago. We would have no hesitation in going back to the Haywood, but it is a great pity that our local surgery is not as accommodating.

  4. Review titled Parking signs bad

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Jacqui Nixon - Posted on 25 October 2023

Came for a rheumatology appointment with my 95 year old mum Parking was awful and only parking we could see was on the staff parking so I did not dare park there I had to find a street to park in and walk my mum who struggles with her mobility When I mentioned it at the reception desk she said that you can park anywhere This is not clear as the signs say staff parking only This needs to be rectified as if you are not familiar with the parking it’s hard to know it’s ok to park there

  5. Review titled No treatment and little advice available

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 August 2023

I had an accident and couldn't walk. There is a self-booking in system at the entrance which I had to stand at for several minutes. The options for symptoms were not exact and I chose the closest. I then had to stand (on one leg!) and wait to be booked in at reception. The wait for Triage wasn't long, though the wait for treatment was over two hours. Nurses were friendly, but I didn't receive any advice or treatment. I had to ask what they thought I had done and how to treat it, then I searched on the internet on my return home.

  6. Review titled Appointment frustration

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I received letter on 18/6/23 from adult rheumatology regarding an appointment you would be sending. If not heard by the 13th of June 2023. I was to contact you on the appointments number. I have tried this number over 30 times in the last two days to make this appointment. As you have not contacted me I am unable to make any appointment and in whatever way I have tried to contact the rheumatology department through. I have just been referred to the same number which cuts me off and does not give me any options of a person to speak to. I find it extremely frustrating and would appreciate the opportunity to make an appointment with you as requested by my GP.

  7. Review titled Excellent Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 April 2023

I attended the Heywood with a serious injury. I arrived at 6.30 am and I was seen at 7 am promptly. I was triaged first, received treatment from a nurse and then saw a health care assistant who cleaned and dressed the wound. I received excellent care and treatment, I was shown compassion and received detailed information regarding aftercare and follow up appointment. The only negative experience was the Head security guard. Due to me arriving early and apparently before the hospital opened, the hospital is advertised as open 24 hrs. I was asked to wait outside the urgent care by a nurse. I was approached in a aggressive manner by head security who was shouting at me for being inside. I struggled to understand him and he became more irate. I was ordered to stand outside. This was totally unacceptable behaviour, he could have spoken to me in a polite and calm manner explaining that the hospital was closed. I was quite shocked and very intimidated as well as emotional due to my injury. Regardless of this awful experience I can not fault any of the clinical staff and they were all excellent, hence the positive review.

  8. Review titled Over stretched

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kevan Williams - Posted on 03 January 2023

Visited my mother in law, who had been transferred from the University Hospital. Nobody on reception, had to identify her location myself, as we were not informed of a bed number. A lady, next to my mother in law, was screaming to be taken to the toilet. I asked the only nurse on duty if she could deal with the lady in question, she said that she would have to wait. I asked if I could assist and she stated that medical procedures and risk assessments would not permit it. I had to ask a member of Sodexo (cleaning contractor) where to get a drinking glass for my mother in law. When asking about tissues for her bleeding nose (due to her anticoagulant injections), we were directed to a paper towel dispenser.

  9. Review titled Disappointing outcome

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 December 2022

I attended the Haywood Walk in Centre after failed attempts to get an appointment with my GP. I arrived 6.50am (opens at 7am) as i wanted to be one of the first there, i was 3rd in the queue. Once we were able to go in and get checked in i waited approx 15 mins to be seen by triage who advised they would call me back in about 9.30am due to there only being 2 triage nurses on till 9am. I dont understand why they didnt just open at 9am. I eventually got called in about 9.45 for the nurse to listen to my chest and tell me its a viral infection and nothing they can give, i expressed my concern as i was having really bad chest pains and struggling to breath, still sent me away. I managed to get in with my GP 2 days later and they sent me to the Respiratory Clinic and was issues Antibiotics due to having a bad chest and throat infection !! very poor service, understaffed and rushing people in and out. Wont recommend, would rather go sit in A&E for 6 hours

Thank you for contacting us regarding your visit to the Haywood Walk in Centre. I am very sorry that your visit to the walk in centre did not meet your expectations. We have been experiencing very high demand for our services. We are very pleased you were triaged within 15 mins of arrival as this meets the national standard. Following triage this means that you were safe to wait for a full assessment by the Nurse Practitioner, which can be up to 4 hrs. On the day the nurse assessed you, your symptoms did not warrant antibiotics. Advice is given to patients to seek review if your symptoms change. We wish you a speedy recovery. If you wish for us to look into your concerns further and provide you with a response, please contact the PALS Team on 0800 783 2865 or via email at palsandexperience@mpft.nhs.uk

Cut my finger on a tin at home, was sent to Haywood Walk-in by the pharmacist. Was seen and stitched up within an hour and a half and on my way home soon after. Was very happy with the service and would use for similar injuries again. Thank you.
