Review titled Amazing help.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jackie Edgar - Posted on 16 April 2023
I needed treatment for Basel cell carcinoma. The treatment and support were amazing. I knew exactly what was going to happen and what I could expect. I was kept informed all the way. The staff was so kind and supportive. They were so kind and treated me with respect. They were so professional but respectful. I felt safe. Thank you so much.

I am in utter agony and i can't get hold of anyone

Review titled Left Uninformed with Operation/Post-Operative Care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by BUI - Posted on 29 November 2022
I recently had 4 wisdom teeth extracted on 14/11/22 at 8am, under general anesthetic. I would like to bring several things to your attention as I do not feel like I was well looked after. Firstly, I arrived on time, and was brought into a room with my escort. We waited more than 1 hour just to be spoken to, meanwhile, we were hearing every casual conversation being made by the operating staff. As you can imagine, I was highly anxious already as I never had general anesthetic. Hearing casual conversation with my door wide open was not professional. Moreover, we were seen by a recovery nurse, (?) who said she would be looking after me for the duration of my stay/after my surgery. When I woke up, she was not the nurse looking after me. Another nurse ensured I was well and able to walk until my escort took me home. These were smaller issues I felt made it an uncomfortable experience, however, the main reason for my complaint is the following: I was finally seen by the operative surgeon, (?) , more than one hour after waiting in the room. The conversation was very minimal. The only real focus was relaying and pointing to the risks involved which I had signed at my pre-op. She did not go through what will I expect during the procedure and afterwards. She asked if I had any questions, which I relayed my concern about training dentists. She informed me she will be watching but cannot refuse a training dentist. I agreed, however I was never introduced to the training dentist who operated on half of my mouth. I found this very inappropriate. Additionally, as I entered the operative room, I was not greeted / spoken to by any of the surgeons. Nothing was relayed to me about what I can expect during and afterwards. After the IV was placed, I went off to sleep and woke up to lacerations and ulcers in various points within my mouth. Skin was hanging off my cheek, which I feel was careless trauma to the surrounding area of my mouth. I am now dealing with 5-6cm painful ulcers around my lips (not my teeth) which really upsets me. I was never told after the surgery what happened within the procedure, how well it went, how to take care of my mouth, and who was the trainee that operated on my mouth. I was simply told I could leave once I could walk by another recovery nurse. Unbelieavable. I truly hope my comments will allow future growth for your day surgery. I felt like a guinea pig and not a human being who was the right to be well informed about their procedure/post operative care. I do not feel like this was something that was prioritised; I felt like a number/experiment for a trainee. I do understand this is a trainee NHS hospital, however the things I brought to your attention is no excuse for such a facility. Please please please do something about this as I felt like this was a terrible experience and I would hate for anyone else to feel the same way. Thank you.

Review titled Constant appointment Cancellation
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 March 2023
I was referred to this hospital early last year due to ongoing health problems I then was sent an appointment letter for November which I attended to find out there was no consultants in on that day and I had wasted my time I’ve then had to chase up to be rescheduled I was then sent another appointment which got cancelled and has happened three times since this is a funded hospital expected to provide a duty of care which isn’t meeting the standards I’m infuriated and disgusted in the system and the effects it’s causing I weren’t referred for no reason yet my appointments aren’t being honoured and my time and money is being wasted as I’m constantly booking time off work to attend!
