Review titled Fantastic first class experience and support
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 February 2023
a massive thank you to all the excellent care and input from staff at the gloucester royal. they were quick to recognise concerns about our sons breathing and supported myself and my husband thoroughly with empathetic care and updates. as a fellow professional i cannot recommend or thank the maternity team enough. all the staff we were in contact with - different stages of staff, students and managers were exceptional, showing high levels of enthusiasm and dedication to their jobs. our son we felt was in the best place on ncui being cared for and with staff sending us regular updates. thank you so much team for all your input, the consistency and your superb first class professional input. i cannot say we faced any concerns with staff only to happy to assist, put us first and drive for success with our sons health. excellent service, we are proud of the NHS and fully support you - thank you so much

Review titled Elderly Care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 March 2023
Very poor, inconsistent care. Its clear that the elderly care wards standards of basic care are extremely poor - call bells out of reach all the time, fluid not in reach , long wait times for assistance. Communication is extremely frustrating as cannot get information and when do its not always accurate

Review titled Suggestion not complaint
Rated 5 stars out of 5

After an ultrasound scan had to wait about three and half hours for a less than five minute consultation telling me I needed an MRI scan, which would be arranged for me. This was a complete waste of my time, and would have freed up some space in the already overcrowded waiting room. I realise you may need to be seen by a doctor, but this was ridiculous anyone could have told me this, and I could have gone home. Perhaps someone could monitor results and as long as the patient doesn’t have any queries there would be no need to take up the Doctor’s time. I would however point out that Gloucester Royal Hospital have been brilliant in this case, they like other hospitals just need to think a little bit more about their use of time, to benefit their staff and patients alike.

Review titled Amazing service *****
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Suzanne R - Posted on 26 February 2023
I had my baby delivered last week and I couldn’t fault them, even if I tried! My time in there from start to finish was amazing, and the food isn’t too bad either, I enjoyed every meal! The delivery suite and maternity ward are both very spacious and calming environments and staff were amazing and efficient, I would recommend this hospital if you’re having a baby. Well done to all staff and thank you to all who were involved in my care.

Review titled Treatment ( or lack of it )
by Nom de pen ,,,, Mr frustrated - Posted on 27 March 2023
Right now stress levels are through the roof ! My doctor couldn't give a call back till 2 weeks time so I called 111 instead. I requested that they withhold recording my info for privacy and after going through the rigmarole of 111 finally received a phone call 2 hours later by a clinician . Next morning the pharmacy rang me to ask what they could do for me so asked about my enquiry to which they could offer no advice but more importantly I asked how they got my number to which they replied 111 NHS sent it to them , so much for not sharing my data great GDPR. Anyhow nearly a week later the problem got worse so I rang the hospital and asked if an appointment could be made to attend a clinic and have the problem looked at and fixed to which I was told I must get my doctor to make a referral ! Bear with me it gets better . So I then called back to the doctors and waited patiently at number 10 in the queue to finally speak with the receptionist who wouldn't get a doctor to call me back until I explained the issue. I explained the whole rigmarole only to be told they don't do referrals . Undeterred I called the hospital back and was advised go to A and E to which I said aren't they under pressure? The only option was A and E so I asked the best time to come with least waiting and fuss. They then told me at that point 98 people where in A and E with an average wait time of 9 hours , so much for my forethought - at that rate they would still be there at 4:00 in the morning. On their advice I decided to call the walk in surgery who were obviously experiencing high call volumes and were very short staffed due to coronavirus , bizarrely it was 2023 . Success, I finally found a doctor who would call me back in two days . Let's hope the doctor doesn't cancel like my NHS dentist has done on the last three occasions and put me further down the queue. You couldn't make it up but sadly it is true. It saddening to think that this country is part of the developed world and a Uber rich economy.

Good morning I am so sorry to hear of your experience in trying to access medical help. Certainly our A&E departments are under pressure and the waiting time is far longer than we would like. 111 will keep your information confidential but they would need to share it with other medical professionals in order to offer the support and help that you were requesting. It would not be shared in any other circumstances I am pleased that you have managed to book a doctor to call you If you have any further concerns, please do ring our Patient Advice and Liaison department who will be able to help. They can be contacted on tel:0800 019 3282 and they will be more than happy to help you navigate through the system

Review titled Follow up from scan
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by G B Chambers - Posted on 29 March 2023
This is a follow up of my recent review posted on 22nd March headed Suggestion not Complaint, however this is a complaint. I had an MRI scan on 25th February 2023 at the Cobalt Unit, and have been phoning Gloucester Hospital each week, I keep being told that it has not been received. I have also emailed the Cobalt Unit with no response as yet. I am being told to ring again, but no-one has offered to chase it up. As in my previous review, if the scan was ok all I need is a phone call, and not necessarily a further appointment unless of course it is required. How long does it take in this day and age to send results of a scan from Cheltenham to Gloucester????? Thank you for your help in this matter.

Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mary Pinnegar - Posted on 18 February 2023
Although we were in A&E for 9.5 hours,we could not fault the Doctors Nurses, all the staff involved in my care. How they cope with some individuals is utterly amazing, why people cannot be just polite and realise what a difficult job they have to do is beyond me.I really cannot thank them enough and hope the government gives them what they deserve. We have a great NHS let's help to keep it.Thank you.

Review titled Excellent service!! One part of the Nhs that actually works!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2023
The physiotherapy department is about the only thing left in the United Kingdom and the Nhs that actually works and works well!! Can self refer, within a few hours of self referral I was contacted with an in person appointment for the same week. Appointments don't feel rushed in anyway, no time limits and they actually seem like they want to be there, enjoy their jobs and most importantly want to help you!! Amazing!

Review titled Great surprise
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Valerie hicken - Posted on 17 January 2023
I saw a consultant about 2nd eye cataract surgery after experiencing bizarre, unsettling visual distortions. I saw him on Friday. He said he would do the surgery as soon as possible. 4 days later I’ve had it done. Amazing. Thank you. I am writing this the day after surgery and am already so much better. Life changing.
