  1. Review titled lack of care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 January 2023

on arrival from the start of my partner being admitted into majors the staff yes maybe busy but there was no care no sympathy at all. I even asked if they wanted to be in nursing. One nurse the head one actually said to me its all been explained to me what was happening with my partner as its written in my note's when I asked I said I can guarantee you I've been sitting here the whole time and even though you may have it in your notes its not been explained to us we are just sitting here ? also he was in complete agony and crying in pain not one person helped I kept asking if someone could reassure him, nothing happened apart form one nurse saying think about a happy place ,,seriously, he was the most chronic pain you can imagine. We was in there for nearly 4 hours and no offer of a drink for him or food. I had to ask. This department needs to be more caring people who are in pain and need reassurance there was no care at all here .Very rude staff The ward however was lovely.

  3. Review titled NHS Teaching Syllabus

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I visited hospital to have my prostate examined. (This is a review of NHS’s procedures. It has nothing to do with the nurse who conducted the examination.) I was asked a few life-style questions but was not asked the most important question: “Have you ever had this procedure before?” Had this question been asked, my answer would have been No”. The obvious response to a negative answer would be to proceed with caution; conducting gentleness and slowness. Having never experienced anything like this before, my reaction to a sensation never before felt, I recoiled. Much like any animal would. Consequently, the procedure was unsuccessful.

  4. Review titled Such great care when I needed it

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by William Lines - Posted on 20 April 2023

I was taken into A&E with pneumonia just before Xmas 2022 and within a day I was transferred to Oak Ward. The treatment I was given was First Class, by the doctors, catering teams, ancillary staff but mostly by the nurses was excellent. Over the Christmas period (my birthday is Christmas Day) I was extremely poorly but everyone gave me so much time, gave me such excellent care, that I really felt that I was important and they all worked hard to make my stay as pleasant as possible, given the circumstances. I want to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone I met whilst I was in hospital. I apologise for not saying this earlier, but all your efforts were so appreciated by me.

  6. Review titled Poor A&E services

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 December 2022

Arrived at A&E at 22:40 and was triaged an hour and 20 minutes later asked for pain relief and was told they would get it proscribed by the doctor, so I took a seat back in the waiting room and was still waiting for the pain relief 2.30 hours later. The department every time I come here the department is always understaffed and no seems too care about patient safety.

  7. Review titled 9 and half hours till my mum of 75 years of age was seen!

Rated 1 star out of 5

My mother was told by 111 to go to a and e after having heart palpitations and dizzy Ness with her BP reading at hypertension danger levels when taken she went to a and e at darenth valley at midnight she did not get seen until 930 am all night she sat on a chair cold and cried she is 75 years old for god sake what is wrong with the people that work there that could do that to a human being and when she was finally seen they said please just tell your GP. I would never ever want anyone else parent or grand parent or any human being to lose a while nights sleep fee rough tired In pain In danger of having a heart attack or a stroke just left there like they don't matter! So upsetting and so out of order what can be happening there in that hospital for that many hours that someone just one staff member could not Have said that go home call Ur gp earlier at the beginning when arriving if they thought that 111 advise was incorrect ! So upset that this happened to my mum she works hard all these years and did not get the help she needed when she needed it.

We are sorry that your mother had such a long wait within our Emergency Department (ED). Unfortunately, our ED department is extremely busy with some very unwell patients, and attendees are triaged in priority order. Although we fully appreciate your worry and concern that your mother spent the night in the department waiting to be seen by a doctor after she had been assessed. If you would like to discuss what happened to your mum and why she had such a long wait, please do contact us directly so we can discuss the concerns you have raised. 9. Review titled Useless

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 November 2022

My aunt was admitted nearly a fortnight ago. Trying to ring up and find out what ward she was in was a nightmare. If the phone doesn't get answered in a minute or so you get cut off. Talking with her care team leader yesterday I was amazed when she said did I know where my aunt was as Darent Hospital said she had never been admitted but had been discharged on the same day she went in. I had found out what ward my aunt was on and had spoken with her on the phone. A lovely neighbour had been visiting each day and was able to tell me where she was and where they were moving her to, that day, tomorrow, the day after. They didn't have a clue. Is it really my job to advise her care team where she is because the hospital doesn't have a clue? So glad I live 300 miles away and won't ever have the delightful experience of this hospital myself.

We were sorry to read that our service didn't meet your expectations and certainly understand your frustration of trying to locate your aunt. We do advise friends and family members, where possible to have one point of contact with a patients progress as this frees up staff time from repeated phone calls but appreciate sometimes this is not always possible. We are always willing to receive feedback good or bad, so if you would like to contact us directly, we can discuss the concerns you have raised. 10. Review titled Terrible service/ Terrible Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 October 2022

Absolutely terrible service in the emergency room. My wife is pregnant and has cancer and the emergency room was adamant that only one parent could be in the room our child. They mentioned that they would help but they are sort staffed. Regardless of how many times we explained to them our situation they still made me leave. The service is horrible , by far one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a hospital.
