  3. Review titled Something Missing

Rated 4 stars out of 5

recently I was admitted to Darent Valley Hospital with very bad cellulitis in both legs, but worse in my left leg. I had been admitted so quickly that I had not been able to make arrangements for someone to look after my cats. I asked several times if I could go in a taxi make the necessary arrangements and then return, but they would not give permission. so eventually I was so stressed that I discharged myself from the hospital and went home. I know physical health is important, but what about my mental health surely that should be a factor. I was told that if I left, i could not return to the hospital, so I am receiving treatment at home, and fortunately getting better. I really like darent valley hospital and most of the staff are amazing.

  4. Review titled Great place with amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I would like to thank NHS for their amazing service. The midwifes are angels on Earth. I was admitted to Cedar ward for induction and everyone has been amazing. They are caring and very knowledgeable. I gave birth with midwife and student. They are both super women! The best birth I could have asked for. They both had magical hands. They both are very very kind and amazing professionals. I was showering 5mins after my birth was done-and I had an epidural. Thanks to all the dream team!

  5. Review titled Amazing care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Karen Thompson - Posted on 22 April 2023

I was recently admitted with gastroenteritis, initially to A&E and then to Chesnut Ward. As I already have mobility issues I needed extra care. I would just like to say how much I appreciate the patient and gentle treatment I received. I stayed for five days and during that time I truly came to see all the hard work and coordination needed to nurse people like me back to health. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  6. Review titled Horse Riding Injury

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was admitted to Darent Hospital for approx ten days over Easter for a complex spiral fracture to my leg - my horse tripped and fell on me. I was always treated with greatest care, empathy and consideration and despite some staffing issues at times over the holiday period. It’s a large hospital, you’d think 24/7 service in this day and age would be standard and include a full compliment of admin staff. Seeing a consultant at the beginning was rare and fleeting, but that increased as my fracture healed and I re visited the clinic. The orthopaedic consultants were exacting, polite, friendly and informative. The nurses and their assistants who cared for me on Maple Ward were excellent. It’s a difficult and demanding job when some patients are suffering with dementia as well as fractures and they’re screaming out at night. The food was good and liquid refreshment was frequent. The porters were always jolly and very friendly. Radiologists were patient, polite and professional. The ladies in the plaster of Paris department were super, very helpful and did all they could to ensure your cast fitted correctly and comfortably. I’ve yet to undergo physio. The hospital volunteers were very helpful too. Overall I’d rate the hospital 9/10. Thank you Darent Hospital for looking after me.

  7. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have just returned from my breast clinic examination in the Empress unit and cannot fault the amazing service I just received. 30 mins in all for initial expert breast exam and follow up mammogram and ultrasound scan to final (happy) result. Could not have been looked after by all staff any better- they were kind and professional and made me feel extremely comfortable during the process. Thank you !

  8. Review titled Outstanding Care at Darent Valley Hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Leslie Fernandez - Posted on 21 May 2023

I recently had a bowel operation at Darent Valley in April 2023. The care I received from the outset was outstanding. From the initial appointments through to the pre- assessment , the operation and post operative care and then discharge was fantastic. I cannot praise more highly the skill, professionalism, attentiveness, empathy and kindness shown to me by the surgeon, the anaesthetist, the nursing staff, the physios, the cleaners, the tea and dinner ladies and all the other staff. All the pre operation information sessions were invaluable and the communication was excellent. The close monitoring and administering of pain relief post- operation was well tailored to my condition and helped me to recover much quicker than I expected. The wards I was in were immaculately cleaned each day, and I noticed the general areas like the bannisters at the main entrance being regularly cleaned which was so reassuring. All the staff I came across during my stay were exceptional and dedicated in the service they provided especially the Lead Nursing Advocate who took all the stress off you by following up any patient concerns and resolving things promptly, efficiently and communicating this back to you. I will always be eternally grateful to Darent Valley and the people who work there for the care and kindness they showed me for they are a beacon of excellence in our NHS.

After giving birth I lost sense of feeling when my bladder is full or empty. Didn’t get from maternity triage like I didn’t get any help from a&e is been my third visit about it and nothing from talking to the doctor happen. No action. Really sad about that. Feel like they don’t want even help you.

  10. Review titled Great Service from all

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Valerie - Posted on 17 March 2023

I attended the accident and Emergency Dep't on Monday morning with a letter from my GP. I had bloods taken by a charming Nurse and a Canula fitted. I was seen by Doctors and Nurses who arranged for me to go to the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit. I was put on a drip for the start of my treatment. I then met a member of the Hospital at home team who said that the rest of my treatment would be given in the comfort of my own home. The Hospital at home Nurses are great and I am so happy with my treatment plan. From the receptionist in A&E at the start of my journey to the team visiting me at home I would like to say a big Thank you to you all, you are all wonderful.
