  1. Review titled 7 hour wait in maternity triage

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anushka - Posted on 21 May 2024

I went to maternity triage in Croydon University hospital on 20 May 2024. I was quickly taken in by the midwife around 5 pm. They did the initial checks and I was asked to stay in the waiting area to be seen by a doctor. I was finally seen by a doctor around 12.00 midnight after a 7 hour wait! That was also only because I informed them that I had to go home. The doctor and midwife who saw me were lovely. But they are clearly understaffed. When the doctors are in surgery there is no one to cover. There were a number of patients who were clearly in pain but waiting as they had no other option. I finally left the hospital around 12:40 am. I expected a 3 -4 hour wait as you usually wait for that long in A and E. However, it is disappointing that the trust does not use tax payers money to employ more doctors!

  2. Review titled Outrageous behaviour

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Rosanna - Posted on 21 April 2024

Whilst my husband was being seen by the streaming nurse, I used an extra chair to sit as I am pregnant. Regardless of my situation another nurse came over and pulled the chair from under me, stating only the patient can sit. She was extremely rude and to add to this, this was extremely shocking behaviour from hospital staff

  6. Review titled Great team at Breast Surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alba Cabral - Posted on 11 June 2024

I have had a very good experience with all the professionals involved at the Breast Surgery department. I had to go through a mastectomy with a breast reconstruction at Croydon Hospital. All the staff at the-pre assessment and pos-surgery were very friendly, assuring, caring, helpful and confident. Every single person I met on that day was very important to make me feel at ease with such a massive experience I had never dreamt of going through. Not only my Breast surgeon was high-skilled and supportive all way through but all the other members providing care on that day. The nurses at the ward during the day were also very friendly. The nurses of the night shift were a bit less engaging but they all met my needs. I'm very thankful for the whole experience and very pleased that the CUH was able to provide it within NHS system.

  7. Review titled Superb treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was taken to a&e by ambulance having passed out after an evening out. I was sober, but unable to stand or indeed move much without help. I had excellent treatment from the ambulance crew and later at a&e. I underwent several tests, including ecg and an xray. The care I received was superb, so kind and helpful. I can't really thank them enough.

  8. Review titled Avoid this place if you can

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Nethelli - Posted on 15 April 2024

Abysmal is an understatement. I have had the misfortune of being under the Gastro team at this hospital for about 2 years. It took well over a year to get an appointment, then the doctor was incredibly rude. The service since has been appalling. They could not care less. I would suggest going absolutely anywhere but here as you will not be looked after in the slightest. Avoid like the plague!!!!!!!!

  9. Review titled Antanental triage waiting hours and no doctors available

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kar - Posted on 26 April 2024

I gave a birth 3 weeks ago and since then had a big pain above my wound. I had ultrascan today at 3pm and was told that there is fluid above my wound and should speak with antanental team what to do. I went to antanental department and waited there 5h with my 3 week old baby. No doctor has seen me. No one was even able to give me any approximate time. I kept asking for an update every hour but the midwifes said no doctors have been available for all this time. After 5h one doctor came to tell me she will start seeing people but not in the order they came but risk order which means I am not at risk and there are several women to be seen before me who came hours after me. I appreciate that other people nay have worse conditions but at least at A&E you have some sort of order and can manage your expectations, whereas at triage no one cares and you have no idea if you need to wait 1h, 5h or 10h. Aftee 5h I just gave up and left and haven't received any help or advice. 5h waiting for nothing. Zero empathy.
