  1. Review titled Worst service

Hospital with a bad reputation for things going wrong and incompetent and rude staff, and now I know why. Abnormal results after a smear test. The next stage they did a colposcopy. Didn't explain things properly or the after care. Now that the result were abnormal and the next procedure needs to be done, the hospital keep moving the appointment. They tell me my results are serious, but you keep moving my appointment back. I'm keeping a record, because if anything goes wrong, and the delay in the procedure I'm reporting this.

  2. Review titled Poor support for patient distress

Patient Review Croydon University Hospital submitted 3rd June 2023 I had lost my mother two weeks prior to coming into the hospital and this was something i told to 3 doctors, I was admitted on Tuesday 17th January 2023, that night I slept, and Wednesday I slept. This was wholly due to the fact my wife was on the same ward in a side room and I took comfort from this Thursday night i just could not sleep and i told this to the nurses on duty but they didn’t do anything with that information Friday night again i was unable to sleep and i told the nurses on duty and again they did nothing I had to ring the Samaritans at 2am Saturday morning as i was feeling overwhelmed. I told the nurse on reception, and she said nothing. Saturday morning i was exhausted and felt very tearful and upset, and i was sobbing, again i told 3 nurses that i had not slept for two nights and they did nothing to help me. At this point i was feeling desperate as i had been ignored and they knew what was going on with me, i went for a walk down to where Marks and Spencer was and hung around for a while, then when i thought of going back up to the ward i could not face it and i felt that i was not being cared for, i was uncared for and my health was suffering because of it, my needs and difficulties were not seen as a priority and i was shown no empathy, compassion or understanding. I could not face going back up there where i would face a lack of care for my health, so i decided i needed to go home and go to bed, as i felt at that moment i had to care for my own health and i could only do that by leaving the hospital and going to get some rest and be able to sleep. It was not a decision i took lightly as i knew that i needed help and care from the hospital with my health problems i got home on Saturday the 21st January midday and went straight to bed. don’t get me wrong there were some really great and committed nurses on duty i just made the mistake of asking the wrong ones or the ones i told felt there was nothing they could do so they ignored the problems i was telling them about i went back on Sunday with two of my daughters, to find that i had been discharged and that was that. I had written them a letter about my experience and handed it to them there and then but I have never received any reply Now i feel too anxious to come and receive treatment at the hospital

  3. Review titled care for mother

Rated 2 stars out of 5

i rang 111 on 7 Jan due to my elderly mother having a swelling on her back in area of kidney due to an inoperable staghorn kidney stone due to her fragile condition for which she has to permanently take antibiotics. the last time this ocurred the swelling was drained off fairly quickly, 111 arranged, via doctor, to get us a payed cab as they were very concerned and suggested she get treatment asap. we arrived at 10:30 am and never left until late in evening, we were just eventually given more antibiotics as after scans e.t.c. we were told it was just a ut infection. Her condition has not improved or her mental state and our regular doctor has suggested we return to hospital but i doubt we will use Mayday, he was also wondering why we were not treated in Urology given her medical condition?

  4. Review titled knowledgeable and very kind

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I saw a charming doctor, who examined my three lesions and prescribed cream and a follow up appointment to be sent. I did not receive an appointment, but did receive a letter cancelling an appointment for 7th March, 2023 and I was told in the letter that another would be sent as soon as possible. To date I have not received one and a letter I wrote asking if I had been discharged, was not acknowledged or answered. I would like to know if I am still on the list to be checked as all lesions are changing and I need to know what to do about them. I do feel that there is a lack of coordination between the medical and office staff. Many thanks

  5. Review titled absolutely death trap.

Rated 1 star out of 5

monday I went to a&e.on advice of heart clinic doctors. I went in 10:00 am sadly setting they over 31 hours without out any medicine or treatment. Not even food for 31 hours. Just 500 ml bottle of water at 10:00 am Tuesday morning after crying and pain. My advice only go to this hospital if you wish to die. Even Nursing staff say why I was they why I don’t go to at George’s hospital. i agreed to this point 1000% hell better for treatment After over 31 hours I had to discharge my self at 16:45.

  6. Review titled I was referred to A&E

by Surrey Alan - Posted on 31 October 2022

I had been feeling unwell for a considerable number of days. I was eventually able to see my GP who after examination referred me to A&E at Croydon University Hospital. There were a considerable number of patients to be seen, which is expect-able these days, but the treatment I received was brilliant. The medical staff were kind and polite. I had the same experience when I had to return on for further tests. Thank you to the A&E and Same Day Emergency Care Review Staff.

  7. Review titled One star is too many.

Rated 1 star out of 5

I attended a&e with a severe infection and sent there by my GP to get IV antibiotics within an hour of arrival due to being at high risk of sepsis. It took them over 6 hours to even see me in the first one place in the mean time I am feeling more and more unwell by the minute. Then I have to spend 24 hours in a chair in the majors waiting area once again to be ignored and only given IV medication when it was time other than that I was begging for my paid medication and getting nothing. You didn’t get fed in a&e or a drink without begging. I’m sorry but I think the repeated experiences where you are having a consultation with drs at a chair in majors waiting area shocking. It is the worst hospital I have ever had the misfortune of visiting and sadly I will have to visit again in the future.

  8. Review titled My mum had excellent care

by weasel - Posted on 13 September 2022

My mum was rushed into A&E last week at Croydon University Hospital and received excellent care. She was treated by A&E, AMU and CCU and all the staff were attentive, professional, and reassuring. I want to thank all the hardworking staff for the care they provided to my mum, we are very thankful and delighted to have her home.

  10. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 September 2022

My elderly mum was admitted to A&E last week for breathing problems. She was first treated in Rescus, then A&E, Majors, then the AMU and finally the CCU. In the 4 days she was there, she received excellent care from the staff. We could, not fault the attention, kindness and treatment she received. All the staff are under pressure, and I witnessed myself the difficult situations staff have to deal with including relatives being rude and demanding. My mums experience was very positive, and we are all very thankful for the care she received.
