Review titled Daughter
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by John Gorham - Posted on 29 October 2024
Brought my daughter to A&E due to an eye injury, she was in extrem discomfort. we were advised to enter details on a tablet, then take a seat. I was expecting a very long delay as department was very busy, Quite surprised when my daughter was called in for triage within 5 minutes. We were then advised to take a seat, so now I started reading the book I had brought with me, however, only read a chapter and my daughter was called in to a practitioner,s room, he had a look at her eye, then took her to another room, removed the offending object, and gave her an eye drop that made her feel so much better. Then he advised my daughter that her eye had a scratch and gave her some cream to put in the eye. The only thing that is worse than being in pain yourself is to see your child in pain, this man made the whole thing simple and put my daughter at complete ease, not to mention resolving the pain. I wish I had noted his name, but the whole visit was so quick I forgot to take a note, only had to pay for one hour at car park !!!!. Thank you A&E at Conquest

Dear John, Thank you so much for leaving this wonderful piece of feedback regarding your recent attendance with your daughter at the Emergency Department (ED) in Conquest Hospital; we very much appreciate it. First and foremost we sincerely hope your daughter is well, making a good recovery from her eye injury and back to her usual self; an injury in the region of the eye is not only very uncomfortable and painful, but can be a source of great worry as you hope it will not have a lasting impact on vision. It is therefore reassuring for us to read that not only was your daughter seen quickly for assessment, but that she was also treated quickly and successfully and provided with after-care; this supports our ethos and commitment to high standards of care and treatment for all patients. We will ensure your kind words are shared with the leadership team for the ED, as they will want to read about your very positive experience of care from staff; sending you and your daughter our very best wishes.

Dear Christopher, Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback you have posted today regarding the care you received in the Operating Theatre and on Gardner Ward at Conquest Hospital; it is greatly appreciated. The Trust works hard to provide all patients with high standards of care, and therefore we are delighted to read this has been your recent experience. It can undoubtedly be a worrying time for patients prior to surgery, and so it is reassuring to read you found staff to be polite and professional as this clearly helped to put you at ease. We will ensure your kind and generous words are shared with the relevant teams, as they will want to read how much you appreciated their care. Please keep well Christopher, and we send you our best wishes.

Review titled Very well run and managed A and E
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Alison - Posted on 16 September 2024
Attended hospital with my partner. The paramedic and Doctor we saw were professional, respectful and inspired confidence. Liked how they introduced themselves to us. The treatment was excellent. Other hospitals can learn from the Conquest how to manage A and E departments. No sign of it being broken at all.

Review titled Overwhelmingly kind
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went for my appointment, I had two nurses and a doctor for a small procedure. I received the most kind, helpful support with compassion and nurture. I could not have asked for any better, those people supporting me are absolutely wonderful, I became upset during the procedure with discomfort and they were just completely there for me. Offering distraction and they gave me such lovely compliments that I honestly came out feeling great, dispite being in discomfort due to the nature of the procedure. Cannot thank them enough!

Dear Patient, Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience of care under our Gynaecology Team; it is very much appreciated. We recognise that many procedures untaken by the Gynaecology Team can be sensitive and intimate, and sometimes a source of discomfort, so it is very reassuring to read that the staff around you were kind, compassionate and supportive, and helped you to get through to the end of the procedure. Treating patients with dignity and respect forms part of our care values, and your feedback reminds us how important this is. We hope the procedure has, or will lead to, a positive outcome, and we send you our best wishes for good health in the future. We will share your comments and thanks with staff as we are confident they will be delighted to know what a difference their care made to you.

So I had an appointment at 9.45 am on Sunday very quiet I had pelvis transvaginal scan ,first time in my 8years of visits in this lovely hospital.i met a crumpy non friendly almost hostile lady which made my anxiety just through the roof, she wasn't talking, explaining northing and she was ever so rough with me,when I explained it hurt very much she asked me to be quiet as she needed to concentrate 😔 I was in agony and in tears upon leaving the treatment room shaking and I had to take my painkillers at midiately to ease my pains...I won't let one woman put me off as all the other staff have been absolutely fantastic with me and my many complicated illnesses

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about the poor experience of care you recently had from our Radiology Department at Conquest Hospital, made all the more disappointing to read after telling us that prior to this, you had had eight years of positive experiences at Conquest Hospital. The Trust is committed to providing a high standard of care to all patients, and therefore we are concerned and very sorry to read this was not your recent experience. Please accept our apologies for the insensitive way you were treated during this appointment, and the distress it caused you, as this is not how we want patients to be left to feel. As part of care and treatment, particularly procedures that might be in sensitive or intimate parts of the body, staff should always adhere to our values of kindness, compassion, dignity and respect, but it is evident this was not your experience for which we apologise. We will ensure your feedback is shared with the leadership team for Radiology for learning but if you would like to discuss your experience in more detail and speak to a manager, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Experience Team on 0300 131 4784 or by email at esh-tr.PatientExperience@nhs.net We very much hope you have been able to quickly alleviate the pain you were caused, and that the results of the ultrasound are helpful. Please take care and keep well.

I attended Dermatology on Tuesday 17th September. I arrived at the department 20 minutes early, within 5 minutes I was greeted by a nurse who took my name and assured me appointments were on time. I saw the Doctor on time and the Doctor on time and found her to be very helpful and informative about my symptoms. A great servie, thank you

Review titled Amazing Staff on Baird Ward 10/10! Truly Inspiring!!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Simone H - Posted on 25 September 2024
My grandad had a short stay (at least his second of the year) on Baird Ward and eventually passed. There are not any words that could truly represent how amazing all of the staff were both looking after him but also my mum and myself in his last few days as we stayed by his side. They helped us to smile, eat, and get through a very difficult time. They kept the whole experience so human and we cannot thank them enough.

Review titled A five-star experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Alison Weir - Posted on 19 August 2024
I was enormously impressed by the treatment I received in A&E on 17th August. The ladies on reception were so kind and welcoming, and the waiting room was only half full - no comparison to my local hospital near London. I was seen in less than 10 minutes by the nurse and immediately afterwards by the doctor, who was very kind and thorough, and took a lot of care in treating me, bringing in a senior doctor when she needed to have her opinion reinforced. Altogether, a very positive experience - I wish all hospitals were like the wonderful Conquest.

I was admitted to SDEC after a scan revealed I had a DVT. I am extremely hard to withdraw blood from which often leads to a stressful, painful time for me but they really knew what they were doing and even got a specialist to get a cannula in, (1st attempt) which I thought would never happen. They were all friendly and I found it all quite relaxing under the circumstances. They have restored my faith and were all efficient, friendly and professional. Fantastic service.
