    On sat 29th june pm I sustained a very serious head injury, I want to thank all concerned from the two ambulances with paramedics and Dr on board that attended to the A/E department and the dr and staff that dealt with me when I arrived in resus, thank you to all of you and when I’m feeling something like I will be bringing goodies in for the staff concerned, thank you again xxx

    My husband, Paul Bellaby, a brain damaged resident of Burton Closes Hall in Bakewell, passed out twice in succession on June 4th and the paramedics decided to take him to Chesterfield A and E. You confounded all the reports of delays and difficulties in A and E departments and provided an excellent and efficient service and happily he was discharged next day with any further problems excluded. There is one important and practical point I need to make. When we told the nurses that he had not been changed for at least 6 hours, they were concerned about the quality of protection they could provide. When they removed the standard issue from the nursing home, they said, with regret, that this was what they used to have. They then produced a pad like that available to babies 50 years ago, before plastic pants, and enclosed it in netting knickers. It was grossly inadequate and within a couple of hours his trousers were saturated and he was wallowing in urine on a soaking sheet. He becomes very agitated when distressed and requires 1 to 1 care in the nursing home. For this reason we remained with him until he was admitted at 3.30 am. He was trying to climb out if bed and tearing at his canula. This distress was caused by his incontinence. Surely things would be much easier for your dedicated nursing staff and your patients if you reverted to your previous form of protection? The cost benefit analysis is obvious.     Experiencing problems swallowing on rare occasions. Contacted my GP, described the symptoms and got a quick appointment and then an endoscope at Chesterfield. Awful experience, but good to know what was wrong. Great service.

    Thank you from the bottom of my heart for delivering an exceptional level of care to my mother, Hasland Ward. Personalised care and genuine compassion from the outset. Clear and concise information given and nothing too much trouble. The expertise of the surgeon, input from therapy staff, the amazing nursing team, and attentive catering, portering and domestic staff, made this difficult time as least stressful as possible. This is an extremely challenging time for the NHS, you should all be incredibly proud!

    I had a heart attack in April 2023. I was devastated in pain which was treated straight away in A&E but then had to sit in A&E for 3hrs waiting for my blood test, not on a bed on a hard chair. When my blood work came back I was put on a bed taken up to the ward at 4:45 am and I was quite unwell at this time.

    I have been referred by my GP due to bowel issues, I’ve been on a waiting list for over 6 months. Symptoms have got much worse and I had tests done at my GP which my GP has said I need an urgent 2 week wait referral. 2 weeks later I still haven’t heard a thing from the hospital. My GP is even calling me every few days to see if I have an appointment yet. I have called to chase and all over been told is they are waiting for the paper from the consultant. Absolutely terrible. It really is the worse hospital I’ve ever had to deal with. My letter says if you haven’t heard anything by 6th April, contact the hospital we’re now on the 14th April & still nothing. Horrendous.

    I attended A and E this morning after falling off my bike. A sister in A and Triage dealt with me speedily and efficiently. I was in and out in 45 minutes. The sister was good even after she had just been abused by another patient

    Ive just cone home from an almost 6wk stay in hospital.... I was bought in for and with breathing difficultys due to c.o.p.d.....Antitrypsin Deficiency & Emphysema... All to do with my lungs.... The consultants were fantastic in trying to find out the cause of this episode and why it was causing me so much pain...went above and beyond with all the tests given... The nurses from A&E and Ashover & murphy ward were all amazing and went above and beyond to keep me comfortable and helped to make my stay lot better.... Then the pallative nurses came to see me and worked with the docs in gettin my pains under control and she was the lobelyest lady id ever met and nothing was too much trouble for her and if i had a problem she would instantly go away and sort it for me... What a fantabulous lady she was....and she helped get me home to be back around my grandbabies.......From start to finish of my overall all experience was fantastic everyone was extremely helpful.... And there is no way i could ever thank them all....thnx chezzie hospital ur much appriciated by me xxx

    I attended for a Colonoscopy quite nervous even though I had been well briefed beforehand so had some idea of what to expect. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome and safe. Every stage of preparation leading up to the investigation was well explained in a clear and really friendly way. The Colonoscopy its self was nothing like I had built it up to be in my head. I chose to be lightly sedated but I was still aware of what was happening to me and I could see it all on the screen (my choice) Every step was explained clearly and I didnt really feel a thing. After the procedure I was taken to a recovery room where the nurse made sure I was ok, looked after me really well and bought me a cup of coffee and 2 biscuits which was so nice because i had just gone 28 hours without food and was starving. Thank you so much to everyone involved.

    Hi, Let me start by saying that I have no problem with the way I was treated at my appointment. I was and am more than satisfied. Everyone concerned was friendly and efficient and a credit to the hospital. Following this consultation the doctor is arranging for me to have a scan. Excellent service so far. Three days after my appointment I received, in the post, a handwritten envelope containing a handwritten note and a blood test form. The note asked me to 'attend for the enclosed blood tests at your GP Surgery etc.'. I realised that it was for me to make an appointment with the surgery and have done so. The point of this review is to ask the question why, in 2024, is the NHS resorting to sending handwritten notes in the post asking patients to arrange their own blood tests? I am registered on the NHS app so a more cost effective and efficient way of contacting me would be via email. I had to verify my email address to send this review and received verification from the NHS by that medium. This in turn raises a second question. Why couldn't the hospital contact the GP surgery directly, by email, to arrange the test? This further makes me wonder why, as I was present in a major hospital, after my appointment, the blood test, which will take minutes, could not have been performed there and then on site. How often does this seemingly inefficient and costly procedure occur in the course of a year? Just because it's always been done this way doesn't make it right. The world moves on.
