  1. Review titled Wonderful staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris Smith - Posted on 12 August 2024

I had to accompany my mum when she suffered a fall on Saturday. I would just like to thank all the staff that were involved in her care while she was there. She suffers from dementia so didn't always understand what they were asking her or what she needed to do. I would especially like to that the 2 ladies who took her x-rays as they were extremely careful when they had to move her and also very patient. Once all her tests were complete she got moved to the Clinic Decision Unit while she waited for the results and to see the doctor. The nurse in their was absolutely amazing! The dealt with my mum with dignity and care and also looked after and kept checking on me as we had to wait for transport to start the next morning to take her home. I can't remember any names of the staff but want to say a huge thank you if you were on shift on Saturday 10th August from 5pm to 7.30am

  2. Review titled Excellent, outstanding service.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Susan Barnfield - Posted on 30 July 2024

I went to Basildon Hospital a&e yesterday and received such outstanding treatment. They were inundated with patients but were all calm and professional. I was there for 6 hours but it was worth every minute for the results of their investigations. Everyone was incredibly efficient and helpful especial the doctor in charge of my case. I cannot thank you all enough, they got to the bottom of what’s been wrong with me and also referring me for further tests. So a huge thank you to everyone in Basildon a&e. Kind regards.

  3. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My dad was admitted twice in July (a&e, amu east and burstead ward) and both times the care he received from all the staff he encountered was fantastic. They took the best care of him and we are so very grateful. Thank you.

Staff were good when you actually got to see them took a ticket 30 mins later very brief details taken 90 mins later triaged properly with vitals and bloods taken 2 hrs later a dr who was a gp? Shocked at blood results so referred to medical team ? 2hrs then an A and E dr was put in a room with six others who required UrGeNT treatment 2,5 hrs later treatment started in the room in the chair as of yet not seen another dr or had the scan ordered had to send my husband home as the last bus was due so it looks like I will be alone in a chair all night with no idea of what’s wrong with me wether I will be properly admitted or scarily sent home in the middle of the night with no transport staff are stretched very very thin and no where near enough cubicles they do their best with what they have but I can only say my experience I was scared

  5. Review titled Nurse in Minor Injuries was a saviour

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Shana ELliott - Posted on 28 June 2024

I have attended the hospital 4 times in the past week and have been bumped from department to apartment. I finally ended up seeing a nurse in minor injuries who was honest, officiant and caring. She had me seen immediately by a wonderful doctor who pin pointed my pain and diagnosis and most importantly issued me with pain medication that would target my condition. Without these 2 wonderful people I would be at home in pain with no answers. They went above and beyond to schedule me a scan with the correct department for the following day, this would have taken weeks for my GP to do!. Thank you so much for your care and understanding you were like an Angel to me on this day x

  6. Review titled Florence Knightingale Ward staff superb

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Tracey Woodman - Posted on 25 August 2024

My father was admitted to Florence Knightgale Ward with complex needs including Lewi Body Dementia. All the staff were fantastic in dealing with his aggressive behaviour and were very supportive to us as a family dealing with this terrible situation. They were kind, patient and caring and we cannot fault their care. Thank you very much

  7. Review titled Lack of patient communication

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 June 2024

My wife was treated at Basildon A&E yesterday from 0530, due to low sat readings & breathing congestion. We both have great respect for the work NHS staff do, often under difficult circumstances. All the fellow patients in the treatment area were left wondering why their respective conditions weren’t being addressed, even kept updated. There were plenty of staff but little direction, as though all, patients & staff, were waiting for someone, medics apparently. We all know about bed blocking & the time waits but this is prior to that in the procedure. It seems as though staff await for a higher up to make decisions. There’s no excuse for a request for pain meds for over an hour, going unheeded with no explanation. Others asking what was their next procedure were left similarly confused & concerned, as though that didn’t matter. Better organisation & communication with patients would certainly improve their experience at little or no cost. Cleaning of loos really needs doing more regularly as several were beyond disgusting. Even requests for cleaning in the treatment area went unheeded, with a member of nursing staff cleaning up the spillage herself, remarking she didn’t know what her job was. Fundamentally, it seems management at whatever level needs a shakeup if they can’t see what the patients can.

  8. Review titled Fantastic Nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Lisa L - Posted on 11 June 2024

I have just spent all night in majors with my mum. We had arrived at 11:30 am and until we went to majors no one seemed to listen to my concerns or knew what they were doing. I do appreciate that staff ratio to patients and the patients demands make it difficult to treat in an appropriate and timely manner. However, the nurse that looked after us over night was so committed to all of her patients including my mum and me. She didn’t stop all night. Explained everything she was doing and did everything she said she was going to do without having to wait for hours. I can’t say whether or not I would recommend the hospital but I would definitely recommend her. If she ever reads this, I was the one with the crochet bag and you are one in a million. Thank you xx

  9. Review titled Out of hours GP

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Aimee Taylor - Posted on 04 June 2024

I went to the out of hours GP after contacting 111 for an ear infection. They saw me very quickly and prescribed me with medicine with no issues. But I was really impressed with my doctor as he also asked about the psoriasis (that I wasn't expecting to talk about that day) that was very clearly on my body and face and unknown to him has been stopping me from leaving my house and seeing friends since appearing a few months ago, it had also caused me to cut my own hair in attempt to deal with it on my scalp. I have had phone conversations with my normal GP, and medicines prescribed, however she would never see me in person and nothing was working. The doctor I saw on Sunday had a look at my psoriasis and prescribed a cream, he was very caring and could see it was a very sensitive issue for me. Well I have used the cream for 2 days and it is gone from my face! I can leave my house without feeling like I am being stared at and my skin is now healing. So I want to say thank you, I am unsure of his name, but he has quite literally changed my life, just by being compassionate, taking a look at my problem and giving me the correct treatment. He really is a credit to the NHS.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Although we had a long wait, the doctors and nurses were all extremely caring and encouraging, explaining everything as the day progressed. I could not fault them - they were superb! Thank you.
