Review titled Concerning

My mum was a patient on ward 25 And today she was discharged by a dr who didn’t see her in person as she was in the shower . So she was sent to wait in the discharge lounge at 10.30 am As another patient needed her bed space She has been waiting in the discharge lounge and isn’t allowed home because the dr who didn’t see her to discharge her forgot to write a prescription that she needs to take home so the discharge lounge can’t arrange the ambulance transport until the prescription is done but the pharmacy is now closed so she has to wait in the discharge lounge until the pharmacy opens tomorrow now is this acceptable aftercare for a patient to be left in limbo like this i understand the hospital is understaffed so it will affect services but it shouldn’t affect patients health or welfare whilst they are in aintree hospitals care this needs addressed

Review titled Left uniformed and Freezing

Attended A&E in support of sister in law who had been taken there by ambulance after being taken ill whilst working as a volunteer at the local hospice. She had tests and was told to wait to see the doctor whom she saw after 10 hrs. She was diagnosed with a severe water infection and dischargged with antibiotics. During her wait she had bouts of severe shivering and shaking and felt very unwell. Her condition wasn't helped because the department was freezing. She was also worried that she was not in the system when she saw others who arrived after her being dealt with before her. I appreciate that priority must be given to those considered at greatest risk but not knowing where you are in the system was very stressful. Two suggestions to help make the experience more tolerable: 1.Ensure that the department is heated. 2.Allocate each patient a unique number and have a display which shows where in the system the patient is: awaiting tests , awaiting reatment, awaiting consultation with doctor, discharged.

Review titled Wonderful care and attention
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs M M - Posted on 15 January 2024
I cannot praise A&E at Aintree enough! At the weekend a member of my family was taken to the hospital with severe pain. The service from check-in, triage and resuscitation was outstanding. In my 4 hours there the doctors, nurses, cleaners and porters didn't stop. The medical staff were kind and polite and did a very tough job with the greatest sense of humour and fun. The place was spotless! Ten out of ten from my family anyway!

I had cause to visit Aintree hospital cardiology department recently and I must say I was treated with kindness by the doctors, nurses and technicians I saw. I was very nervious and one of the secretary's helped me a lot tne next day I feel as if my appointment went a bit pear shaped at the end all down to me. I am at the moment very upset and thinking I am about to die.

I was in a&e for 16 hours with abdominal pain, with no offer of pain relief. They told me they would do IV anti-sickness and never did. They did a chest x-ray for abdominal pain??? They said they would do an ultrasound and never did. They did not do an internal examination even though I told them I thought it was coil related. After 16 hours they said they didn’t know what was wrong and referred me to the sexual health clinic. The sexual health clinic saw me within an hour and sorted me out.

Review titled Excellence in challenging environments!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Paul - Posted on 23 November 2023
My family and I took my father to the A and E department he had been unwell for week or so visited his GP but had deteriorated cognitively in the evening. My family arrives at the hospital it’s busy but every member of the team was supportive and helpful even when my brother and I where showing signs of obvious distress they took the time to talk to us and listen when it was hard for us to do this. They treated my father with dignity during a difficult time while managing 2 fractious boys. They offered curtesy drinks and snacks for my mother and father while we waited for team of specialists. Thank you all so much for you hard work and dedication.

Review titled Endoscopy Appointment
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Mark Goulbourn - Posted on 30 October 2023
I have a condition which requires a periodic gastroscopy, which is now overdue. I have phoned endoscopy appointments twelve times during the last 10 days. On each occasion I receive a message “ if no one is available call back later” and I am the disconnected. There appears to be no other method of arranging an appointment.

Review titled Long Wait Times in A&E with little communication
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Stephen Houghton - Posted on 01 November 2023
Currently sat in A&E in excess of 6 hours with my father who is 70 years of age. Very long wait times with very little communication about when you will be seen. Original wait time displayed was 3 hours. After 3 hours it changed to 5-6 and now we are in excess of that with no knowledge of when he will be seen. It's 1am and my elderly father would likely have been better off getting a GP appointment for tomorrow morning. He is fatigued and restless and we still have no idea how long it will be until he is seen.

Dear Mr Houghton, We apologise for the wait you had to endure while visiting the AED department with your father, we understand it is not easy to wait without any communication, especially when he is not feeling well. We will pass this on to the teams involved for learning. We hope that your father has been able to receive treatment. Many thanks,
