After 85 failed attempts of calling even though I had a call tone only to be canceled and a message saying this number is not recognised the receptionist was very rude and did not give me the information that I required dam right disgraceful

Review titled How do I book an appointment when no one answers?
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Lil - Posted on 03 July 2023
I have been trying, in vain, to get an appointment. I very rarely need to visit my GP but have found that when I do call, I can't get through, it is either engaged or rings and rings, then cuts me off. Today I tried 251 times, to no avail. To add to this you can't actually visit the surgery and speak to/see a member of the reception team as there is no access to a receptionist, the door to the reception is permanently locked. When you do get an appointment you can't even book in for it as the self-check-in has not been in use since the onset of Covid and, as I mentioned, there is no reception to approach in order to book in, you just have to go upstairs take a seat and hope for the best. I find the whole experience very impersonal. Isn't it time the management brought back the reception desk and the self-check-in?

Review titled Good if you get through

I've been trying to get an appointment for months, as I'm having pains under my rib cage and trouble breathing. I recently self diagnosed and think it's a hiatal hernia so tried calling for an appointment again but either get cut off or engaged

Review titled Very bad experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 May 2023
I have been having severe throat pain since May 8. I got an appointment today but it was a very very bad experience. I went for my throat pain but ended up getting acidity tablets for acid reflux. I told the doctor clearly that I don't have any acidity problem. Not sure why I was prescribed and when I tried to get some explanation, I was not given one. Just a blunt reply through receptionist that "throat is not infected". This is not the way you treat patients. I spent 13£ on medication simply for nothing. I tried to get some medicine from pharmacy but they too didn't help me. I am seriously disappointed!!!

Review titled Rude and Useless Receptionists
Rated 1 star out of 5

Awful surgery. Receptionist are not consistent with the advice. One person tells you one thing then another tells you something else and then just says "oh well, I don't know who told you that but it's wrong" Well now that has affected my treatment. Another example... I needed an urgent appointment (Tuesday), nothing available but could offer me Saturday at Carfax. So I took it with gritted teeth. I turn up and they had booked it for the following Saturday. Luckily Carfax still saw me and left a message with Whalebridge to cancel the next Saturday appointment. Did they cancel it like asked to No. Instead they sent me a letter telling me if I miss another appointment I'll be off their register. Absolutely useless and extremely rude.

Review titled Receptionists need basic training
Rated 1 star out of 5

No option to give a rating of 0. The receptionists are patronising, rude and try to provoke arguments - when they don’t get an aggressive response they react as if they have for the benefit of their colleagues sat in the same room as them. One in particular has a habit of calling people ‘love’ and thinks it’s appropriate to burst into tears for no reason and then proceed to say she is unwell. If she is unwell, she should not be dealing with patients. Given all the posters saying they expect respect and will not tolerate rude or aggressive behaviour you’d think they’d learn to treat patients with the same courtesy. Only call this practice if you want to make yourself feel even worse. Until they start recording calls I fear this level of service will remain the same.

Review titled Poor reception
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Receptionist are dismissive, it's shocking how they quickly dismiss and don't show any compassion towards the patients. My kids were due for their vaccine, I was dismissed. I needed a prescription after I had emailed without any response I got dismissed. When you are working with the public and patients you need to be compassionate at times not be rude. Noone just decides to ring in the GP for fun.
