Review titled Not fit for purpose
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Nicholas Carr - Posted on 03 July 2023
I am a reasonably elderly gent and very rarely ill, but when I am, I am used to being able to make an appointment (maybe 2 - 3 weeks hence) to see a doctor face-to-face, who knows my medical history and can who can explain his / her diagnosis and the reasons for proscribing the necessary treatment. For some diagnosis, there should also be a pro-active and timely follow-up by the doctor. All contact with this surgery (whether in person, by phone or online) is very long-winded and ineffectual. The on-line systems (NHS) are extremely poor, the appointment booking "system" extremely convoluted and getting prescribed treatment is shambolic. I feel very strongly that timely, effective, and focused patient care should be the top priority for the NHS , and this practice does not provide it.

dear Mr Carr We do apologise that you are disappointed with our service. Within the GP Team we work now with a multi-disciplinary team and to see a particular GP is not always the best appointment. This is particularly so if a follow-up appointment is needed. We work with pharmacists, physios, a full nursing team & care co-ordinators to name but a few. Follow-ups will often be with a member of our multi-disciplinary team, if one is required. Once again we apologise for your dissatisfaction Kind regards Leckhampton Surgery

Review titled A practice that should be in special measures?
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Neil Alan Wynn - Posted on 27 July 2023
Seems impossible to get an appointment ... online it is for Blood tests only. Have been told appointments for GP become available from midnight! Telephoning involves waiting in a queue for up to half an hour or more and a face-to-face appointment with a GP seems almost impossible to arrange. Reported failure to update record of Covid booster injections ... have heard no more; Before Covid this seemed a good, if busy practice - what has happened?

We apologise that you are having difficulties getting an appointment. From the end of August we are changing our system so the urgent appointments on the phone will be available from 08:30am but routine online appointments will be released that day at 10am. The whole of Primary care and indeed the NHS are all very busy at the moment and the usual summer quiet time has not materialise this year. Please bear with us as we seek to provide the best care to our patients with the current resources available. As alternatives you can contact 111 for advice, who also have access to book appointments as they feel appropriate. Pharmacies are also commissioned by the NHS to advise on Minor illnesses. thank you for your understanding Leckhampton surgery

On time telephone appointment, followed by an immediate face to face consultation with a very friendly GP who gave good advice.

Review titled Very good practice with excellent doctors
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I saw a GP here on 24/1/24 and I was very happy with the prompt response to my request for an appointment for a worrying condition of sudden onset. I saw the Doctor the same day, who was very understanding and thorough and explained everything in simple terms and I was very reassured by this. I have been a patient at this practice for over 30 years and I have always been treated with respect and professionalism. I would wholeheartedly recommend this practice.
