Review titled It feels like a tick list exercise
by equuleusjd49 - Posted on 26 June 2023
The doctors are never available, they also keep rejecting my monthly medication which then cause me stress and have to go a long process to get my meds. Really not good, not sure how much they actually care about patient's experiences here. It feels more like a tick list exercise always!

Review titled Practice clearly hit by cost cutting
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 August 2023
I had a great experience with 3 of the doctors there but not with another who I saw twice, both times terrible, on the second time he sent me away telling me I would be receiving a call about blood tests - was still sick and took myself to A&E and had emergency surgery a few days later. Reception seems, with notable exceptions, to be staffed by inexperienced, untrained - and probably poorly paid - staff. Prescription requests were frequently lost - last straw was when a request I had physically taken to the practice had almost certainly ended up in the bin.

Review titled Terrible
Rated 1 star out of 5

Impossible to get a GP appointment. Next available appointment to see my named GP is in two week time. To make matters worse this is only a telephone appointment, and only a vague appointment time is given (09.00 to 12.00) There is no option to see an alternative GP sooner and you can not request a face to face appointment. The way in which booking an appointment, changes constantly, making the process extremely confusing. This creates additional pressure on other services such as NHS 111 and accident and emergency. Why has it become so hard to see a GP? The Lawson Practice used to be brilliant but is now terrible

Sorry to hear you are disappointed with the appointment system. We believe in continuity of care wherever possible which means we do ask patients to book with their usual doctor unless it’s an urgent problem that can’t wait. The telephone call you will receive is for the doctor to take some brief details of the problem so they can arrange a time for you to come in to be seen. We have moved away from the old model of pre-booked face to face appointments as it didn’t give us the flexibility to book patients in for the time they may need. For example, I can now book someone for 30 mins if they have a complex problem or 5 minutes if it’s something quick. The telephone call does not mean you won’t be seen face to face. It is challenging to give a specific time to call because as you can imagine, health care is not straight forward and things happen or consultations take longer than expected. We do offer appointments late in the evening however if that’s easier for work commitments.

I called this morning to book either a telephone or 1:1 appointment. After being on the phone for nearly 40 minutes (no 8 in queue) I was asked a series of questions by the receptionist who said some would call me back; they did, another receptionist to offer a physio appt I said I did not need this and wanted to talk to a GP they said they would call back; they did to say that the physio appt was the only option (in 3 weeks time). I work in a busy school and understand that practices have had to change; however we have diverified to support the pupils and Parents needs often acting as social services and mental health support as well as education and have had to work hard to build partnerships but have never forgotten the core purpose of focus - Education. Why can't GP services do the same?

Review titled Very positive expérience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kirsten - Posted on 20 March 2023
The online request an appointment form was easy to fill in. I was contacted within 2 hours of submitting it and offered an appointment for the following week. I was unable to do the date I was offered and was contacted again later that day with an alternative. The appointment was with the same doctor I had seen on a previous occasion which is important to me for the purposes of continuity and familiarity. My GP called me at my appointment time and asked if I could attend in person, which I could. I was seen on time and my issues were dealt with in a professional friendly and efficient manner. I felt listened to and understood. It was a very positive experience and after years of feeling dread at the prospect of going to the GP I feel my confidence has been restored .

Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback. It’s wonderful to hear you had a good experience and I will make sure the team hear this too. We are trying so hard to maintain continuity of care whilst trying to be as accessible to our patients as possible. This is a difficult balance so I’m delighted to hear the new system has worked well for you. Many thanks again for your kind words.

Review titled Repeat prescriptions and appointment system
by leoxq75 - Posted on 06 March 2023
The system for requesting and repeat prescription has changed without warning or notice. The system for booking appointments has changed to frequently. Both are impossible to now use as the options on the econsult form do not cover repeat prescription and they have never been any choices for issues I wish to speak to my GP about.

Thank you for your feedback. The process for requesting prescriptions has remained the same. To avoid error, we ask for a written request either in person or by email or via the e-consultation form. Appointments can be requested via completing an e-consult form on our website, calling the practice or popping in to speak with one of our patient navigator team members. All requests for appointments are now triaged by a GP and an appointment allocated as necessary. If you are having difficulties with any of these, we would be happy to help resolve any problems you are having.

Thank you for your feedback. I agree that is incredibly frustrating. We are making every effort to free up the phone lines and encourage those who can, and when appropriate, to use the online form in order to do this. There is also the option of selecting to be called back rather than waiting on the phone. There is no need to call at 8am for an appointment. You can call anytime, but if the problem is urgent please call as early as you can so we can see you as quickly as possible.
