    I needed a repeat prescription. After 5 days waiting and a visit to the practice I was told it would need review. I got a text to say a clinician would phone today (nearly 2 weeks after the request.) Nobody phoned. I'm in a lot of pain and feel that this practice doesn't care. I'm going to change practices, this is not the first bad experience here.

    Dear patient I am sorry to hear about your recent experience obtaining a prescription. We have recently started a quality improvement project working with our dedicated Patient Participation Group to enhance the patient experience when accessing medication. Please see updates on our website, including a list of FAQs. I am sorry to hear you didnt recieve a telephone call as promised, and I would like to investigate this further to understand what happened.     Unfortunately I have been a frequent flyer at the practice this year. The staff have been wonderful. From the amazing admin/reception staff who have been so very helpful, to the GP’s, practice nurses and healthcare staff who have listened to me and helped me get the necessary investigations needed. Today I was due to have 1 appointment and then a second a few hours later, I was helped by the admin team to have the second appointment a few minutes after my first. So very helpful. Unfortunately my favourite member of the Admin team is leaving soon, so I wish her all the best!

    I have been diagnosed with hypertension and have had no follow up appointment for this I am in the position that I cannot return to work as my employer needs evidence to where my readings are now

    Very quick appointment, friendly staff. Only negative is you are not allowed to talk about more than one ailment per appointment ,which I find so strange especially as more than one ailment may be linked, also surely it would improve practice productivity if you were able to discuss more than one ailment per appointment

    I do not visit my GP Surgery very often, but I was very impressed with how it was run. My appointment was at 11am & I was a little early. I signed in & sat down. Within a few minutes I was called to see the GP and was out and back home by 11.10! The GP was very polite & courteous. No complaints whatsoever.

    I would like point out the long waiting to book appointment to see the GP. I think 6 weeks is very unreasonable time to wait to see my GP. My wife has a serious problem with the left side of her body. That’s why she needs to see the doctor for advice

    Dear Fartown I am sorry to hear about your recent experience and a long wait to see a GP. We work within NHS GP Contract guidance to endeavour to see all patients within 2 weeks. Unfortunately, the waiting time can be slightly longer if demand is excessive, or if there are unexpected staff absences.     Please can I thank the reception and telephone staff on my recent visit for help on 3/6/24. I felt they were kind caring and understood I needed help and medical advice. The GP I saw was great too and has also kindly booked a follow up to help with some of my ongoing medical issues. I appreciate all your hard work, thank you.

  10. Review titled Cancelled appointment and “lost in the system”

    I had an appointment on 3rd May with a mental health nurse and was told a follow up appointment would be booked in 4-6 weeks and was prescribed 30 days of medication - that time passed and no contact was made - I had to go through about 5 different people so that someone could order another prescription and an appointment for booked for 5th June. On the morning of 5th I got a message to say this was cancelled - so I called again and rearranged for 18th June - this was then cancelled on 13th June. No matter how many times I called and explained the situation and that I couldn’t just stop my medication, I felt no one actually cared. The only person that ever seemed bothered was the pharmacist. So it’s 13th June and at this point I still hadn’t spoke to another mental health nurse and was left on antidepressants which weren’t on repeat prescription so still having to chase up any follow up. I called and explained the urgency to someone at The Grange and after I got upset they managed to book an appointment “that just popped up” for the afternoon, I asked for afternoon as I was out celebrating my sons birthday and I didn’t want to take that type of call in the middle of a meal. I was called earlier than planned so had to step out of the meal but regardless I was just happy someone had actually called me. Another prescription was ordered and a promise of a call back on 4th July. I think the lack of understanding or empathy about how damaging this type of scenario can be for someone with depression is unbelievable and something that really needs to be worked on. If I hadn’t have chased this up myself, my prescription would have run out and I would have been off my medication instantly - I genuinely don’t think that if this had happened that anyone would have been in touch with me - the doctors and nurses are the professionals and are supposed to care for their patients and I feel like if I hadn’t have followed up on this myself I would have been left in the dark and probably more ill due to withdrawal.
