    Have always had a great experience at this practice, people are kind and knowledgeable always try to be helpful. It was a bit difficult to submit the appointment request online, but once that was done, I received a callback very quickly. Thank you

    I was given my appointment within 2 day which was great. I was also offered other tests on the phone, which was really helpfu. I was seen very quickly. Staff work hard and try to meet your health needs. Staff are also friendly.

    My very first experience with the NHS was at the St James Medical Practice. I was expecting an in-person consultation based on the telephone conversation with the staff and the text reminders, but it turned out to be a phone consultation. As it was my first time, I wanted to discuss multiple ailments, and the Physician Associate was very accommodating. Despite the negative comments I've heard about the NHS, I was very impressed with the service. I was able to do my bloodworks the same day. And, the Physician Associate called me back to follow-up on a matter that we discussed. Overall, a great first experience!

    Here is the standard experience with St. James Practice: - You need an appointment - You call to make an appointment - A rude receptionist will tell you that you need to use the website - You go to the website - The "make an appointment" links will send you to the Patient Access website - Patient Access website informs you you can't make appointments at this surgery through them - You call reception again - Another rude receptionist will get angry at you and send you back to the website - You go to the website and spend about 40min lost between confusing pages, broken website links and wrong information - You call reception again and they hang up on you - You call them yet again, and they hang up on you yet again - You call them one more time and the lines now are busy and you get redirected to a generic NHS call centre, where someone really, really fed up with their job will tell you at 2x the speed of normal human being that you need to call the practice later, since their lines are all busy at the moment - You change practice because you would like to be alive by the end of the year

    Dear patient sorry to hear about your experience on trying to get an appointment. We have changed the website and added in links to help patients book an appointment. If you have trouble with booking an appointment on line tell the Receptionist who can complete the application form on your behalf. Sometimes the phone lines drop especially if the patient is phonng in on a mobile and is either walking around or in a poor reception area, but the Receptionist do not put down the phone on purpose. The Out of Hours call centre takes calls for us during the lunchtime, they should be able to book an appointment for you but on the odd occasion they do tell patients to phone the surgery during the afternoon when we take back the phone lines. We do contact them if they tell patients to phone the surgery back to make an appointment. Unfortunately you have submitted this feedback Anonymously otherwise I would ghave invited you in to discuss the situation. Good luck at your new practice

    Receptionist are not helpful at all they treat people patients with no respect Their main job should be helping others as they sitting on reception desk and they are the only one who can help !! But Chasing one prescription can be a mission I didn’t know until now !! So so disappointed My husband is cancer patient and bed bound I have to leave him home alone to get prescription done as over the phone they said coming to surgery will be the quickest way and when you go to reception they said to me she has no acceess to computer it’s a joke!!!that jus made me so furstrted literally in tears and thank god I am not registered in this surgery only my husband is registered and I would not recommend to any one I hope after reading my review you will act on teaching receptionist their jobs It was only one prescription which I am trying to chase for last 2 days Very very disappointed

    Really positive experience with this practice for separate appointments for my husband and son. They're overworked and sometimes run late for appointments but they deal with patients with compassion and go the extra mile.

    Thank you for your kind words and we appreciate the positive feedback Amanda, we do try our best to help all our patients and some times dealing with patients with complex cases or many long term conditions we do run late. We have only 10 minutes per appointment and on the odd occasion 10 minutes is not enough

    The receptionist who works mornings is very patient and helpful especially as I am hard of hearing, both of us wear masks and have a screen between us making hearing and understanding a challenge for me. She checks my blood test results then makes a telephone appointment for a GP to phone me and writes it down as I may have misheard. She also checks when I am due for various medical check ups and books appointments. Much appreciated. Thank you.
