My GP has always shown me the most incredible support, compassion, kindness and understanding. The practice overall is outstanding but I'm disappointed by the lack of professionalism that I noticed during my visit yesterday afternoon. While waiting for my GP to call me in for my Consultation, I noticed a slightly sarcastic note stuck to the wall high above the check in screen. It read something along the lines of "Please can we kindly ask patients to use the wonderful check in screen thing" Apart from the fact that you can only see this sign once you're already sat down in the waiting area due to it being stuck so high up on the wall, I found the wording really unprofessional. I would advise rewording the sign and putting it at eye level and possibly put it in a free standing sign in front of the reception desk for more impact. I would have used the "Wonderful check in screen thing" if it wasn't for the fact I was over an hour early and your machine won't actually allow me to check in when your more then 30 minutes before your appointment.

Hello I am Jon Frank, the practice manager at Observatory and I am sorry to hear that you found the sign above the patient check in screen to be unprofessional. I will speak to the Observatory Signage Department to report your observations and suggest that they try harder next time. The check in system works by date of birth and so to reduce the chance of multiple patients with the same date of birth checking in around the same time, has the "window" set at 30 minutes. From booking my appointment to seeing the Doctor it was first class, when you think of all the pressure the NHS is under they still care and treat you like a human, with care and dignity

I feel very privileged to be part of a listening and compassionate practice who have dealt with any of my medical problems speedily and efficiently It is hard having mental problems but I feel it is a safe space to address my concerns and find all the staff both friendly and understandin

I’ve always had good treatment and advice here; really appreciate their care and although they are busy, it’s simple to use the NHS app to book an appointment.

Burnout is truly dreadful leaving me feeling. Exhausted and vulnerable. The GPs showed kindness, consideration and were extremely helpful and supportive.

I am a man of over 60 and wanted to arrange some routine blood tests appropriate for my age. My previous surgery had proactively contacted me for this reason. However I'm now registered with Observatory Practice, and when I sent them an e-consult to ask for the same tests, they wanted instead to arrange a phone call with a doctor. I arranged this, but they then cancelled it because of a staffing issue and asked me to go through the whole process again. All a totally unnecessary waste of time!

Hello I am Jon Frank, the practice manager at Observatory. I am sorry that you felt that we let you down though from the details you have given me, this is the correct procedure. Patients cannot just book themselves in for a blood test - they need to discuss it with a GP first so the GP can add the request on to the system with the correct tests. The only exception to this is if the patient is on a recall list and has a diary reminder in place but I do not have your details so cannot check if this was the case. I am sorry that the appointment with the GP had to be cancelled, but like any organisation, people do sometimes get sick, and there is nothing we can do about this. I have never come across such rude, cruel and unprofessional receptionists in my life. Every interaction I have had with them has been upsetting and unproductive. They do their best to make you feel stupid and unwelcome. Something as simple as refilling a prescription becomes a battle. It seems as if university students in particular are targeted by the receptionists as no-one I know has had a positive experience with them. I would rather travel home than have one more interaction with these people.

On several recent contacts with the practice, the receptionists were polite and very helpful, as were the two doctors who saw me at short notice and treated me.
