Dear patient, thank you for taking the time to post us a review, I am glad to read that your appointment was quick and responsive. It is true that we have made changes during last year to our appointment system, the reason for these changes is as a direct result of contractual changes imposed on us by NHS England, some of the changes they have made involve the way we must offer patients an assessment at the time of every appointment request, we have been able to achieve this via the ‘Accurx total triage’ model, where all requests come in the same route to the practice and then each and every patient request is then reviewed and triaged by a senior member of our clinical need, then the most appropriate outcome for each and every request can then be offered, and booked in. The clinical team are working through the (clinical) medical requests, booking in consultations where appropriate for patients or dealing with the patients request in the most clinically appropriate way. This might be making a booking for the patient with another, more appropriate member of our multidisciplinary team, which now includes here at the practice a range of: • Doctors • Advanced Nurse Practitioners • Primary Care Matrons • Nurse Practitioners • Practice Nurses • Health Care Assistants • Clinical prescribing Pharmacists • Care-Coordinators • Social Prescribing Link Workers • Podiatrist • Physiotherapist Every contact starts off with the most appropriate method, taking into account the patients own contact preferences, a face to face appointment will be offered where clinically appropriate and we do offer many of these each day where patients need to be examined for example. It is however true that many of the day to day appointments can be dealt with, without the need for a face to face appointment and this helps us to free up some precious time. The key to the success of the new system as that it is the most senior and experience clinically trained staff that are reading and reviewing and then ‘signposting’ the incoming patient requests to the best resource in the system which actually frees up time for our clinical team to deal with the sickest of our patients, while all the other requests for help get dealt with by the right person in the multidisciplinary team. I hope this explanation is helpful, Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice Management Team.

  4. Review titled Regular patient

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I have many medical conditions, under control, so have frequent contact with the surgery. Although it can be difficult getting in touch these days, and booking an appointment is hit and miss, the care I receive is good. Had a blood test 2 days ago, and the nurse who took my blood was, and always has been, awesome. She rarely leaves a mark, and on the rare occasions there is a bruise, it's because my veins are hiding from her. I always breathe a sigh of relief when I see her name appear.

Good afternoon, thanks for posting a review, glad to hear of your positive experience with our nurse recently, I will share this feedback with the nursing team. The reason the practice has made changes to its appointment system is as a direct result of contractual changes imposed on us by NHS England, some of the changes they have made involve the way we must offer patients an assessment at the time of every appointment request, we have been able to achieve this via the ‘Accurx total triage’ model, where all requests come in the same route to the practice and then each and every patient request is then reviewed and triaged by a senior member of our clinical need, then the most appropriate outcome for each and every request can then be offered, and booked in. It is therefore true that at times we do reach our safe capacity but this differs from day to day, depending on the demand we face and the capacity we have. We appreciate your views, thank you, Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice Management Team.

  6. Review titled Difficult to contact

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by David - Posted on 06 March 2024

I had a text from the surgery telling me to book a blood test. I rang the surgery, the hold message told me to use the website. I hung up the phone and went to the website and from there to the NHS app but I couldn't see anyway to book an appointment with the nurse, so I phoned the surgery. I was on hold for 33 minutes until the phone was answered. As always once you can speak to someone or get an appointment everything works well. The problem is getting through and the anxiety that there may be a time when I need to see a doctor urgently but that day's slots have gone on the website. There isn't any way to prioritise the appointments.

Dear David, thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear of your recent difficulties, you could have used the administration version of the online form and advised us that we wanted you to book for a blood test, then one of the team would have either made contact directly, or if appropriately sent you a URL link to a choice of nurses appointments for you to book. It is true that with the new system, there are no direct appointments to book from the website, but if you utilise the online form where you can we can help you that way. I will share your feedback. Thank you, Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice Management Team.

  7. Review titled Very caring and professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 March 2024

I needed to see a GP regarding ongoing symptoms which are getting progressively worse. After trying to self treat at home with no success, I felt I needed to see a GP to get advice and help. Everyone at the Practice are very friendly and professional. The receptionists are helpful and approachable and the doctors involved in my care are very understanding and reassuring, putting things in place to aid my future treatment. Thank you to all.

  8. Review titled Bad

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 February 2024

The front off receptionist was behaving so rude and was extremely unhelpful. She was asking us to explain the purpose of our request and even after explaining thrice she was nodding her head and behaving in a manner that she doesn’t understand even a bit. We requested for repeat prescription injections for rheumatoid arthritis after 3 to 4 times she said she will put ina note in system for the pharmacist. We could not order online which we normally do and upon giving blood test on 15 th Feb24 it was requested. Until now we could not order and the last week I missed the injections. The receptionist behaviour and the fact that her unwillingness to understand even though explained clearly is to be improved.

Dear patient, I am saddened to read of your experience, I would urge you to report this type of issue to us as a complaint via the practice website, complaint webform, then at least I get the chance to investigate this particular issue and look into the points raised, as your review is anonymous I will not be able to pinpoint when this issue happened. If you wish for me to investigate and respond directly to you then please head to our website, www.nvhmedicalpractice.co.uk and to the 'have your say' section where you can fill in a simple complaint form which then comes directly to us. Thank you, Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice Management Team.

Dear Sandra, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Our new online request system removes the need to call us to request anything, you can make all your requests for help via our online form if you are able too and if not our staff will fill the form in for you. You can access the Accurx Patient Triage service from the home screen of our website, Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice – Medical Doctors in Werrington Peterborough (nvhmedicalpractice.co.uk) there is a banner just under our name, which states “Contact us online; if you need help with a non-urgent medical or admin request? You can now contact us online: If you click onto the, submit a new request button, there are four options for help and assistance: 1. I have an admin query – contact us about a fit (sick) note, ask about recent tests, get a repeat prescription, or ask us anything else administration related. 2. I want help with a medical issue – contact us about a new or ongoing symptom. 3. I want to see online advice – see advice and guidance on conditions, symptoms and treatments. 4. I want to refer myself – see local services that you can self-refer to There is no requirement to register to use this new service and there is no password or identification needed so it’s really simple. If you already have the NHS App then when you start the online request via this method there is also no requirement for you to complete your name and date of birth details as it uses your NHS App information so you start off right at the first question. I do hope that this information is helpful for you. Nene Valley Hodgson Medical Practice Management Team.
