  1. Review titled Distinctly efficient & caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I took an elderly neighbour, who had had a fall outside on hard concrete, to Loughborough Urgent Treatment Centre. Every member of staff through our 2 ish hours there were polite, kind, informative & notably very co-ordinated in how my neighbour was processed through their system of care. It was a very supported, unstressed experience. We felt confident in the care being provided throughout.

  2. Review titled Brilliant Service

What a brilliant service this is. I was on holiday and had a medical issue. I was told by the local doctor surgery to go to Loughborough Urgent Treatment Centre. I booked in at 12.45 and was given an appointment for 3.35. I returned to the Centre and was seen within 5 minutes of my appointment by a lovely nurse practitioner . Antibiotics were prescribed and I was out of the centre within 20 minutes. Well done NHS.

  4. Review titled Wound treatment

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I presented on 28 July and saw a nurse at about 5 pm with a deep open wound just below my knee cap which she cleaned, glued and dressed. I have since found out from a nurse at my surgery that it should’ve been sutured to keep the wound closed because the skin on the knee moves a lot and also the edges were jagged. A quick google confirms this. As a result the wound has opened up again and nearly 3 weeks later is not healing. Hopefully it will heal but I will be left with more significant scarring. I understand that the staff at the UCC are trained in suturing and I am giving this feedback so that you can learn from my experience to benefit others.

  5. Review titled Could be better

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Overall a good service in terms of the doctors and nurses and medical staff. However the waiting room and facilities could be better. Now you have to book yourself in digitally , I understand its a way of going forward , however it's not appropriate for everyone. Because not everyone can speak English, some people have learning disabilities or difficulties and so on . It's also suppose to speed up the assessment and help the staff and the patients, but clearly this is not happening. Because the nurse did not have a clue to our reason for visit. And we filled a detailed assessment questionnaire. Also I have to say the I am very disappointed with the new waiting room chairs all facing a wall , it's very mentally uncomfortable especially when you suffer mentally health conditions. Please consider facing them to the view outside . Its just more relaxing.

Took elderly friend at 3pm as had rang 111 and had waited a number of hours with no return call. Was seen within 15 mins and given medication immediately. Back home within 1 hour.

  8. Review titled Nine hour wait time!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My disabled son had a bad fall at school. He was assessed by a 999 handler over the phone and we were told to take him to urgent care. We booked him in and were quickly taken to a triage assistant not a clinician. She took some basic observations and asked some questions. After this she spoke to a clinician and despite severe bruising to his face we were told he couldn’t see a clinician for 9 hours which would be about 3am. We said that’s ridiculous, he needs rest, phoned 111 in the morning and were told to take him to A and E in Leicester where he was fully assessed by a doctor and x rayed to ensure no fractures or brain injury. I’m sorry this urgent care centre seemed a waste of time for us as he needed a clinical assessment not a quick look over by a non-clinician. 111 and A and E is better.

  10. Review titled Very disappointed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Following a trip to a local nail bar for gel nails, I developed an infection in the nail of my thumb. On Saturday I noticed it had started to turn green, was throbbing, extremely painful and very red and hot I visited my local chemist for advice and was told by the pharmacist to go to an emergency care centre immediately as ii needed antibiotics and possibly draining. As I didnt have transport that day I took a taxi to Loughborough walk in centre. Following a 2 hour triage, I was assessed by a male nurse who was very dismissive, told me it wasn't that bad, squeezed it and then said I didnt need antibiotics and just to get some tcp and sent me away. Following these instructions, I duly bought tcp and bathed it regularly, alternating with salt water solutions The next day, the pain was worse, i noticed that the infection was starting to smell very bad too! On Monday (yesterday); I went to see my GP who said I had a severe infection and gave me a weeks worth of strong antibiotics, telling me to return should symptoms get worse. This could have been avoided if I had been given antibiotics at the walk-in centre and a correct assessment (the pharmacist had already ascertainedthat i needed antibiotics). Maybe further training is required for some of your triage staff!
