Review titled Improving on some issues but still poor.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 July 2024
Still trying to get my prescription on the 3rd from my GP appointment. They sent to a pharmacy rather than giving me. It was shut and I was too ill to get obviously. Other people went but weren’t given. I phoned to ask Lakeside for help but they were rude and dismissive. GP did not take me seriously. A typical “bug” answer when I was seriously unwell. However you can see a GP if you are lucky now. And are offered a choice of telephone or in person.

Review titled Awful practice and it’s going to get worse
Rated 1 star out of 5

Nearly impossible to get an appointment. The only way to get one is to either phone at 8:00am exactly and hope you win the race to be one of the lucky few, spend an hour on hold, and then get seen in a fortnight - or use the Anima app, which isn’t easy for elderly people - someone was at the desk trying to get an appointment and obviously couldn’t use the app and had no luck trying to get one on the phone. She left empty handed. This is the general experience I have of the doctors too - it was difficult to get my appointment - I tried three times on the phone and then eventually got one online at the second attempt - it took me five days to book an appointment. This is going to get worse as the town is about to expand - so there will be more strain on the doctors practice. Having got an appointment I arrived ten minutes early, as I know you will not get seen if you are late, and promptly had to wait for about an hour to be seen. I wouldn’t mind except I was sat on my own in an empty waiting room, eventually I asked the receptionist and she said that “the doctor knows you are waiting and you are next” and it was then nearly another 30 minutes before I was seen. The Dr I saw (I no longer have a specific doctor, I used to but he retired and now you end up just seeing whoever is available) was friendly, polite and knowledgeable - she discussed my problem with me and I left with the advice I needed (I was seeking to reduce the dose of my medication).

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your feedback of your recent visit to the surgery and I am sorry to read that you had difficulty in booking a appointment. We have introduced pre-bookable routine appointments and same day appointments, all our appointments are bookable via the NHS App, SystmOnline, telephone, or in person at either of our two sites. I am sorry to hear that when you attended your appointment, that you had a wait to see the clinician. The clinician's do try to keep their clinics on time, however some appointments can take longer then the allotted time due to complex consultations. Kind regards Emma Patient Services Manager

Review titled Experience of mum and baby 8 week check
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 June 2024
We were 15 minutes late being seen which is more significant when you have a small baby with you. I didn't find the doctor to be very approachable, the appointment was rushed and he didn't ask me anything meaningful regarding my mental or physical health. It felt very superficial and a 'whistle stop' appointment. I wasn't examined and didn't feel at ease or that there was time to ask the questions that I had, so I don't feel as though I've had a meaningful conversation with my GP. He asked me about contraception, but didn't tell me he'd write the prescription. Given how rushed it felt i didnt realise i hadnt checked this with him until i saw the nurse, who told me i needed to book a separate appointment to start the contraception. i did so, only for the GP to text me later that day explaining that he'd sorted the prescription. Poor communication. He examined my son, but didn't engage with him or explain to me what he was doing which again felt lacking in care and consideration. After the appointment I was asked to wait for the immunisations, no one told me what time this was booked for, and when I explained my frustration to the nurse I was told that all surgeries are the same and I need to blame the government for ruining the NHS. I disagree. Lakeside offers poor care, the GP i saw did not present as engaged or that he had time to spend talking to me meaningfully. Communication was poor in my appointment to result in my not knowing about the prescription, and again with the nurse telling me to book a further appointment, which in the end was not necessary. For this I cannot blame the government, and am of the view that the surgery is poorly managed, and lacking care. Despite spending an hour and a half at the surgery yesterday, I estimate only 25 minutes was spent with either the GP and the nurse combined, and by the time I left I was angry and frustrated. I can only imagine how women who are experiencing more difficulties than me would feel in this situation, as I feel I have not been heard, or listened to.

I attended SheepMarket Surgery for a pre-booked procedure with a visiting GP. I had a short wait post my scheduled appointment time. The visiting GP was excellent calling with the nurse helping with the procedure.

Wouldn't make an appointment by phone, had to visit the centre to register to make a online appointment. Attempted to do so only to be told that there are no available slots for the next 2 weeks. Kind of wonder what's the point ?

Review titled Disappointing
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Donna - Posted on 14 June 2024
Had a doctors appointment at 5.20 yesterday and that was ok the doctor recommended blood test and mri scan, he told me to come back this morning to pick up a form to have a blood test I arrive about 12.15, but no blood test form had been sorted I said I would be happy to wait as I wanted it done today due to work commitments next week, I was told only the doctor I saw could sort it and he wasn’t in today, come back on Tuesday This was a waste of my time, the receptionists time and the patients waiting in the queue, which was getting longer by the minute! Now I have to go back to the surgery next week, I don’t drive so it’s not just a quick trip If he had told me collect the form next week I might not be so annoyed and writing this review, I would have understood

Had to wait 4 days for an appointment then wait an hour at the surgery to be seen by the GP. The GP however was very thorough and matters are being progressed.
