Review titled Thank You
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by John Young - Posted on 08 November 2022
I am 85 years old and I attended Woolpack House on Thursday 3rd November for a doctor's appointment. On departure, while I was reporting to the Reception Desk about an administrative matter, I began to feel faint. I realised that I needed to lie down promptly - and the receptionist kindly helped me to lie down safely and quickly on the floor. The reception staff were superb and found me a blanket and pillow. One member of staff stayed with me, and very shortly two doctors appeared. I was helped to a side room, an ambulance was called - and I was taken to A&E at York District Hospital. My wife and I have been patients with Jorvik Gillygate Practice since those far-off days when the surgery was actually in Gillygate. There have been many changes over that time - not all for the better e.g. I am frequently frustrated by the below-standard telephone answering service (a common complaint) but the medical treatment that I receive has always been first class - and all the help, attention and kindness that I was shown last Thursday was exemplary. I wish to record here my special thanks to that receptionist who stayed with me throughout the episode, and to all the other members of the team.

Review titled Lack of service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 October 2022
Called at surgery after spending over two hours waiting for them to answer the phone. Needed some details to be able to register with the NHS app for my prescriptions. Receptionist told me first that I should ring NHS, then said to give my email and she was sending me an email with the necessary details as we spoke. Well, twelve hours later and nothing.

I went to flu clinic without an appointment. The staff put me in a line immediately and within 10 mins I was called up and given my flu jab. This was far better than I had anticipated .

Review titled Flu jab
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by John Duncan - Posted on 30 October 2022
Had my flu jab on Sat 29th Oct. Really quick and well organised. Was asked if I wanted to have the Shingles, to which I said 'Definitely not'. It turned out I was being asked if I wanted to have the Shingles jab while I was there. So I had that one as well.

Review titled Really well organised Flu Clinic
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jacqueline Anderson - Posted on 03 November 2022
Husband & I presented ourselves, by appointment, at the recent Flu Clinic. We were dealt with speedily ,professionally & courteously from signing in at Reception, through the short queueing process & into the doctor's surgery, who quickly administered the necessary jabs most efficiently. He carefully checked all the necessary allergy questions etc , but we never felt hurried as he was most calm & accomodating considering the large volumes of patients waiting in the numbered lines to visit whoever was their appointed doctor . We both sincerely thank Jorvik for this excellent service, & the NHS as a whole , even though things are not too easy at the present. Jacqui & Stuart Anderson. p.s. I'd have appreciated a Smartie or two for my bravery however, as our doggo received a treat last week when he was given his annual inoculations ! Lol!

Review titled Flu clinic
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 October 2022
This comment only refers to the flu clinic on 29 October. Patients were being allocated to one of 5 queues. 4 of the queues were nicely moving along, but my queue was stationary. Eventually there was some movement, but extremely slow. We established that this queue was being dealt with by a doctor, rather than a nurse ( although a receptionist tried to deny that, even though it was a fact). The situation became so ridiculous that people were arriving and almost able to go straight in to be seen, whilst we were still in our ( increasing) queue. It was very crowded and we had nowhere to stand that wasn’t in someone else’s way. Eventually they had to stop anyone else from entering the building. The receptionist said we couldn’t be seen by anyone else ie in a different queue. It was all done electronically. I assume that perhaps people were taking the opportunity to ask the doctor other unrelated questions and that was slowing him down, as when I was eventually seen, I was in and out in a minute. If the system is that patients have to be ‘allocated’ then it would be better to have all nurses administering the jabs to avoid this inequality of experience. I think it’s the case that people generally don’t mind a short wait, and we are lucky to have this opportunity, but what people do mind is when they can see is a system is clearly not fair and is badly organised.
