Review titled Great care when you can get it.
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 November 2023
Access is a problem. Whilst I have no objection to the on line triage system it is not at all working patient friendly. It’s bad enough that it closes at 4pm, but to be closed for an hour at lunchtime as well I feel is unacceptable. When we fill the form in we tick to say it’s not an emergency, so why does it matter if messages arrive whilst staff are on their lunch?

Dear patient, thank you for your feedback, we have recently updated our website so hopefully you will find it more user friendly. In regards to opening times of the forms, we have to close the form at lunch and 4pm to make sure it is manageable for the urgent care team. The form is open from 7am-12pm and 1pm - 4pm. thank you Chorlton Family Practice

Review titled Worrying errors with personal information
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Stephanie - Posted on 14 October 2023
Invited for a flu jab, only to arrive at the practice to be informed I’m not eligible. Apparently “this has happened a few times” according to the practitioner I was seen by. The practice incorrectly had my status as pregnant despite giving birth 3 months previous and a doctor at the same practice seeing both myself and my baby for our postnatal checks 4 weeks beforehand. The member of staff whom I’m voiced my concerns too, spoke over me, said it wasn’t her fault and said i should email the practice. No apology, no ownership, and a complete lack of empathy. In light of the above I have severe concerns about how Chorlton Family Practice process personal data and their inaccurate record keeping.

Review titled Very Happy
Rated 4 stars out of 5

Using their website, I sent photographs of my injured knee; (using an electric wood plane, I sliced a big chunk of skin off my knee). It appeared the wound was getting infected. Received a telephone call from a practice nurse which led to me going in the following day. The nurse took a swab of the infection, cleaned, dressed the wound and prescribed an antibiotic. I received confirmation via my NHS App a few days later that the antibiotic was the correct one for the infection (following testing of the swab taken). My previous interaction in Aug 2023 (concerning my abnormal PSA Test result) was also done over the website and phone. This was a good experience too.

Review titled Can t get repeat prescriptions on time????
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Lesley Caulfield - Posted on 09 October 2023
What on earth is happening, I thought doing repeat prescriptions was made easier by the system being done electronically and your prescription being sent to the assigned chemist? Obviously not as regularly run out I've now been without medication for 5 days. Called in today and the receptionist blamed the chemist for not requesting it early enough? The chemist blames the doctors for not sending the prescription.was told to call in the week before to request it? No point having electronic system if you have to keep going to the gp's to request it. The medication has a warning saying Do not stop taking it, if only I got a regular supply i would take it consistently, but it seems I have to keep going nearly a week without so won't help the condition. Oh well let's hope it doesn't have a detrimental effect on my health and end up with even more serious and costly effects to me or the NHS

Review titled There are issues for patients
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 January 2024
I have been with the practice for 37 years. The main issues are: Long waits for telephone consultations Difficulty in getting face to face appointments even with chronic conditions and if an appointment is offered its weeks away. Phone/face to face appointments with different GPs. No consistency so having to repeat your problems over and over again which can be distressing. Every effort is made by the practice to treat people without seeing or talking to them.

Review titled Repeat Prescriptions move at glacial speed
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 September 2023
The NHS norm of 2 to 3 working days is quadrupled some months for what are essential repeat prescriptions. Reminders are ignored and need to be in person as the phone is manned by a matronly robotic voice issuing a message the length of War and Peace. If do not lose the will to live by the end of it, you are given 4 options and woe betide if you press the wrong button or are calling outside some random timetables. Not much experience of treatment as I rarely fall ill. The doctors need a wake up call though. And that telephone auto message would try the patience of Job. The reception staff are nice and polite and look uncomfortable having to make excuses for the doctor's indifference to dealing with repeat prescriptions on time. I hope this review is treated as intended: constructive criticism

Thank you for raising your concerns, I'm sorry that your experience hasn't been what you expected. You haven't left any contact details so I am unable to look at your individual case or contact you to discuss the issues you have had directly with you. Our medication requests are completed within 3 to 5 working days (excluding the weekends). We are unable to process any prescription which isn't within 7 days of renewal being needed unless this is for exceptional circumstance eg. going on holiday and the prescription will run out whilst away - in these cases we ask you to write a message onto your request so that we know this is the case. The safest and easiest way to order your repeat prescription is through the NHS app (which you download onto your phone) or through your regular pharmacy. We are aware that our message is lengthy but we are trying our best to give the most relevant information to suit all of our patients. Your comments will be fed back to our Management Team inc the GP Partners.

Review titled It used to be excellent
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Impossible to ring the practice. Online system gives rapid response, but often doesnt seem to have read the initial message.....recently I asked twice for a face to face consult as I am very hard of hearing. Both times I was given a phone consult and couldn't hear anything. Earlier this year I had to make a private appointment as the practice doctors just told me to take paracetamol. The private doctor saw me, diagnosed the problem and prescribed a drug that had me pain free after one day...... I had suffered for three months with the practice prior to this.

Thank you or providing your feedback, I'm sorry that you feel that the service we provide doesn't meet your needs. I am unable to investigate and fully respond to the issues you raise as you not left any contact details for us. We have significantly increased our telephone staff over the last few months which means that our answering times have improved, there are of course times when we are extremely busy, this is usually first thing in the morning, lunch time and early evening. We can log your hearing difficulties onto your records if you wish and we will take account of this when making your appointments going forward please present to our reception to organise this. It is often easier to see a private doctor as they often have the additional funds and capacity due to their ability to charge for these services, General Practice is limited by the funds provided to us. We do try our nest to meet peoples needs effectively and efficient given these limited resources.

Sought advice via web contact form and received a call back in about 3 hours, saw GP same day - very comprehensive consultation. GP referral to specialist follow-up resulted in call next day and appointment to suit me within 2 weeks. Very satisfied, thanks.

Review titled Good clinical staff and helpful admin

by Jane Briddon - Posted on 11 January 2024
my GP is kind, patient and thorough. I have been very unwell and all services, not least the surgery have been excellent. There will always be problems getting through to a practice by phone because they are caring for a huge number of patients, but that is the same everywhere. ultimately if I or my child need to be seen urgently I know I can rely on them to see me in person or over the phone and for that I am extremely grateful.

Review titled Not a place to contact if you're sick
Rated 1 star out of 5
by V kaczurynski - Posted on 12 May 2023
I have been with this surgery for 35 years and it used to be a great place. Now expect at least 4 weeks wait for a phone appointment. Not great when you're not well at all. Appointments service is a joke. Trying to complete the online form and the form bouncing back stating that this service 'now close' for the day but you can still contact the surgery directly. Tried to call several times but the phone switch off as soon at it rings. Went to the surgery just to be told no appointments will be taken until tomorrow. The lovely receptionist explained that the surgery continues to take on patients and does not have the capacity, hence the long list. This is absolutely appalling and dangerous. When ask what do people do in case of emergency, she said people end up in A&E as the walk in centre are overloaded . Absolutely shocking.

Dear Ms Kaczurynski thank you for raising your concerns which quite frankly surprises me given the level of care that has been provided to you over the many years you have been with us. You are correct we do have a long waiting time and it isn't something that we want for our patients but demand completely outstrips capacity - this is a significant national issue not just a local one and we are trying very hard to manage this as best we can, we are exhausted. As you know we have a same day urgent access system through either our online service (between 8am to 12.30pm and then 1.30pm to 4pm or telephone between 8am and 6pm each week day. We have no option but to triage each contact due to volume and many things can be dealt with over the online system or phone. Not all patient same day demand is necessarily clinically urgent and we ask these patients to wait for a routine appointment - this is the only safe way we can manage demand. We hope to reduce our waiting times significantly when we are provided with the additional funding & staff to do this, the Government is in the process of allocating funding in hopoe of achieving this nationally as the waiting times are reflected across the UK. In the meantime we will continue to do our best in very difficult circumstances.
