Review titled Disappointed

I have hypertension and have been hospitalised for this.I take blood pressure medicine. I spoke with a very rude receptionist and then waited 6 weeks to get a blood pressure test, to then be told at my appointment (which was 15 mins late) there wasn't time to check my blood pressure as they were running late. I'd need to book another appointment. Ridiculous! Dangerous to trust an NHS surgery with your health when this is the way they conduct themselves.

Review titled Try getting an appointment online.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2023
Phoned surgery and after a long wait spoke to a pleasant receptionist. She stated I needed to book an appointment with a GP to get a blood test. She referred me to the online appointment system rather than putting me down for an appointment. I tried a number of ways to book an appointment online. No chance. If I was elderly and computer wary I would have no chance at all. Awful system

I am sorry this felt difficult. Reception team are being asked to promote our on line consult system which is on our website. This allows you to tell us why you feel you need a blood test . A gp will then authorise us to book this if they feel appropriate. Unfortunately we have limited GP appointments so we need to ensure those with the most clinical need get these. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact the practice manager.

Review titled This isn’t right
Rated 1 star out of 5

My toddler and I both had an appointment at this gp surgery, hers at 9:35 and mine was at 10:35. We arrived at 9:29 and my toddler was seen by the lovely doctor at around 09:38 finished at about 09:50. So we waited at their patient lounge upstairs for my appointment. Wondered why I wasn’t still being called after 30minutes, we went down at the reception to ask and I was told “they might be busy with the ongoing patient”, and we should just wait, so then we went back up and waited. Another 25 minutes had passed still nothing so we went down again at the reception only to be told that apparently, I was called twice. I insisted I was there the whole time waiting but nobody is calling my name! She made me feel like it was my fault. The receptionist told me that she didn’t know what happened so she offered to just reschedule my appointment on Monday, in fairness to her. I felt really bad as I’ve came from night shift, without any sleep, and we went straight to this and it was frustrating, as had the receptionist told me earlier about the reason why I wasn’t being seen the first time I asked, then we shouldn’t have wasted our time waiting for nothing! We were there the whole time and everyone has been called but me, and I can attest to that, unless they called me in before my scheduled appointment when my daughter’s check up was ongoing, which I wasn’t able to find out anymore because they were too busy to even attend to my concern. I have this discomfort and was in pain for a week now but they couldn’t be bothered. What kind of practice does this?

I have always received great care from the surgery, today I called for advice and within the hour I had seen a doctor. I always find the receptionists helpful.

Review titled Patronising
Rated 4 stars out of 5

The Dr I spoke to today was very patronising telling me “there’s no magic pill for depression”, I felt fobbed off. A lack of real empathy outside of “oh, I’m really sorry it’s hard”. NHS is woefully underprepared for dealing with mental illness. Underfunded, understaffed and not well looked after by the incumbent government. Cantilupe surgery is a bastion of good service usually, especially in a time when Herefordmedical group is at the fore, but I felt let down by the Dr today, it felt very much like I was being told to get a grip. I appreciate that all medical staff are over stretched, but I do feel that is not an acceptable excuse for patronising language. This is not the first occasion I have been unhappy with the bedside manner of the Dr in question, sadly. Otherwise, I’m very glad that my surgery runs as it does. In that regard, top marks. This feedback is sent in good faith, to aid with improvement, not to criticise unduly.

Review titled Could do better
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I don’t usually write reviews, but I am getting increasingly frustrated at the mixed care I have received at this surgery. I don’t think it helped that when I first attended this surgery I was questioned as to why I had changed practice twice, with the assumption that I must be some difficult patient. I changed surgeries because I was told I was out of the catchment for wargrave house. I then changed to Hereford medical group who were shockingly bad, and finally, to cantilupe. Although I have seen some lovely GPS, I have also seen some GPs/nurses who have shown no empathy or concern about the symptoms I am presenting. I have felt unbelieved at times and unheard. If I treated the people I support at work with the same lack of care and respect I would be sacked, and quite rightly so. You might not have all the answers, but you can still listen and be kind.

Review titled Consistently good practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 31 May 2023
I visited my GP practice on a couple of occasions this year and saw a nurse for a routine smear test and a GP for some general health advice. On both occasions, I was treated with care, respect and kindness, and was followed up promptly, with the GP even calling me late in the evening (and doubtless making themself late home) to ensure that I was well. I felt listened to and cared for and onward referrals have been made without delay. The NHS is under a lot of pressure, but the staff at this practice have not let me down.

Review titled Annoyed

Arrived Hampton Dene with clearly marked apps card for 3.30pm appt (booked at Cantilupe 12 days earlier). Reception very courteous but told appt not registered on screen. Advised earliest next apps 4th April at Hampton Dene. Suggested ring at 8am but all booked up at 8.07. After 50 years of excellent service by Cantilupe I am most alarmed by the current situation
