Following a diagnosis of an acute vascular disorder, the Doctor recommended referral to a specialist in the local hospital. An appointment was made but the specialist clinic declined since the symptoms did not meet their criteria. The doctor phoned to advise and apologise. In view of his belief in the need for an operation the doctor then appealed (unsolicited by me) to an NHS 'panel' to obtain their funding to support the hospital division. The NHS declined; the doctor kept me closely informed. I wrote an expansive overview addressed 'to whom it may concern' to be passed by the doctor to the NHS appeal 'panel'. I also felt the seriousness of my condition necessitated surgery. The symptoms very clearly followed NICE guidlines for intervention and was recommended by a long-standing and respected doctor. Once again this individual phoned me to express regret, concern and apology - the latter being entirely unnecessary given the diligence, persistance and efforts consistently shown, by this surgery's representative. As a final note, during the process I had numerous meetings with a nurse who should not be forgotten for commendation. This person was extremely helpful and went 'above and beyond' my expectations.

What a brilliant surgery! I have had very good service and care from everyone I have seen, including doctors, nurses and reception staff and over the phone. I and my husband have no complaints whatsoever. In fact, it's only this surgery that is keeping us living in the area.

I was impressed with the doctor who saw me. He treated both concerns I had, and dealt with both on the day. Blood tests done whilst I was there, and referral for appointment also. Very efficient, but not clinical. Showed a desire to treat both problems quickly with further treatment as necessary. Very satisfied with my experience!

On the 7th June @2pm I attended my COPD review with a senior nurse at the Blackthorn Health Centre. The main purpose of the review was to discuss my current medication, following a recent exacerbation of my condition and examine whether alternative medications would be more appropriate. My nurse was very knowledgeable, patient and courteous. She listened to my feedback re my recent experience and suggested a new, replacement medication. I agreed with her suggestion and she immediately provided a prescription and booked a follow up review in two weeks time. The review took 20 minutes. I was very impressed with the support received so my thanks to her and the practice for your ongoing attention.

Recently had to take my 3 yr old daughter for a follow up appointment. The staff were very friendly and polite. The doctor was very patient with my daughter when she was playing up and handle the situation really well.

My last review was based on my 7th June appointment with the excellent COPD nurse who prescribed a new medication to help deal with my breathing condition. I was to return after several weeks and report back with an appointment made for 26th June. This latest meeting with my nurse went very well and we discussed my experience with the new medication. As a result we agreed to replace a previous medication with this new one. A formal prescription was ordered which I will collect this week and we agreed that a review in 3 month's time would be scheduled. Again a very positive review and outcome with my nurse, who was welcoming, attentive, informative, reassuring and answered all my questions. I should also mention the reception staff who are kept very busy but always have time to welcome patients with a smile! Thank you Blackthorn!

This was a routine blood test. The experience was faultless and the nurse was very pleasant and helpful. It was not needed for me but this person would definitely relax any patient and allay their concerns. Sufficient parking and seen within minutes of my appointment.
