Review titled Feedback On Your Appointment With Birchington Medical Centre Last Week.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jaykob - Posted on 22 January 2023
My youngest Son had broke out in a rash and sores around his mouth. The practice were able to arrange an appointment the same morning I called, the practitioner was so friendly, helpful and informative it was delightful. I cannot recommend Birchington Medical centre enough, the receptionists are always helpful and thoughtful, the GP's are all extremely professional. This is by far the best Surgery I have, or my family have been registered with. I am not sure how so many Doctors practices elsewhere get it so wrong, yet this practice gets it SO right! I work in the medical industry myself, dealing with patients and so I hear all of the horror stories...I can only promote Birchington Medical centre as I have witnessed it, you are left feeling very safe in their care.

I have a monthly visit. The last one was within circa 10 minutes of the booked visit. Very pleased with the timing and treatment.

My consultation was very good, the GP was understanding of my problem and suggested some medication which would help and explained everything about the condition, and also is going to refer me for a hospital appointment.

I am hoping to have help with my leg which is becoming deformed. I was treated respectfully and given follow up treatment after an examination and answering various pertinant questions . I was given a sheet of exercises and advised to support my knee with a brace when outside or doing the exercises. I am hoping follow up treatment is beneficial. I felt cared about and taken seriuosly and was informed about the examination

Review titled GP spoke down to me and left me in tears
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Brenda - Posted on 22 January 2023
I had to insist on a face to face even though I was and had been poorly, even having had hospital treatment. GP was dismissive, spoke down to me, was autocratic and did not listen. After about 10 mins I told him that's enough I will not be spoken to like this, I am 76 and do not expect to be treated this way, I have come to see a GP as I don't feel well, not because I have nothing else to do. That I would leave make a complaint and ask to see another DR. I then burst into tears. Not something I normally do. After this he said sorry for upsetting me. He then gave me a full and good examination, ordered an MRI of my inner ears, gave me medication for my ongoing symptoms, which have helped. He has since phoned me a few times to check on me and has spoken to the TIA clinic DR. At the end of the appointment he apologised again. So in the end things were good, but what bad practice and duty of care that I had to be upset first when I was not feeling well. Not good. I think the NHS is amazing and the people that work within it. My husband and I feel we have always had good treatment from the NHS in general.
