  1. Review titled Most empathetic, caring & genuine doctor

by Rebecca - Posted on 11 September 2024

Hiya I'm writing you today regarding my latest appointment (9/9/24) I had with my doctor. I'd just like to say how amazing he was, how caring, how kind, how thoughtful and most of all how he listened to me. He's always genuine and wants to actually help. I suffer with anxiety really bad but I always feel calm around him and I feel like I can speak to him about anything. He showed a lot of empathy, asked enough questions so he could clearly understand my situation and just really made me feel heard. He also doesn't push you into anything for example, he mentioned counselling but I'm not interested right at this moment and he accepted that without pushing it onto me, which previous doctors have done. He's the best doctor I've visited and would recommend him to everyone if asked. Also every issue I’ve visited him about, he’s helped me solve it. Kind regards, Rebecca Wingfield. :)

  2. Review titled Forever late

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 August 2024

I’ve been with the surgery since 2020 when I joined after moving to the area. I find it really difficult to get through to the surgery to book an appointment and on the occasions I manage to get an appointment they’re forever late. Most appointments I attend including my midwifery ones I’m always sat waiting 30+ minutes before even being called through. It’s not an ideal situation when you’ve got very young children or you’ve got to return back to work, what should be a quick 10-15minute visit to the surgery ends in nearly an hour visits most times. I attended an appointment last week and wait 35 minutes before being called through, todays appointment which was pre booked from last weeks appointment is already 20 minutes late…. So I expect to be here for a while.

Dear Sir/MAdam, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. At the Practice we endeavour to provide the best possible service and I am sorry that has not been the experience you describe. You can contact the Surgery in a number of ways including via phone, via the website and in person. The phone system does have an automated queuing and call back system so should never have to wait for any period of time if you do not wish too. I am sorry that I kept you have been kept waiting before your appointment and thank you for your patience. There are many different reasons why clinics can run behind. Perhaps the principle one is our Clinical Teams primary concern in providing the highest standards of care for patients, and this can mean that appointments overrun if clinically necessary. Whilst we do understand how frustrating it can be waiting for your appointment, hopefully, you will be reassured that our Clinicians will always put a patient's health needs first and will give you the time you need. If you would like to discuss any of the concerns you have raised further please do not hesitate to contact the Practice Team. Best Regards Gareth Edwards Practice Manager

  3. Review titled Excellent care at Beaconside

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Billie - Posted on 27 June 2024

I had excellent care again from the whole team. Starting with the reception staff who are so helpful and polite. The senior nurse practitioner is a force of nature - going the extra mile to get the best for you. She just makes you feel cared for and that your health matters. Today she involved the GP for a 2nd opinion and the phlebotomist for unscheduled blood tests. All done with no fuss and making you feel that you deserve all that help rather than feeling like a nuisance. Previously I have seen Dr S and all GPs should be like him. I have struggled with my weight and other issues and he treated me with the utmost dignity, kindness and respect. The Beaconside team are brilliant! Thank you for all you do

Dear Billie, Many thanks for taking the time to leave this review. I am glad the team have given you the care and support you need and I know they will be delighted with your kind comments. I do very much like your description of our senior nurse as a 'force of nature' and have already shared these comments. I do know that she cares for everyone and it is always nice when somebody highlights it. I will of course share your comments with all the team and if we can be of any further help please let us know. Best Regards Gareth Edwards Practice Manager

  4. Review titled great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mel - Posted on 07 February 2024

I would just like to say thank you. I am new to Stafford so the processes over here are very new to me. The service i received today was excellent, I spoke to the receptionist this morning who recommended an appoinment with the physio today, attended the appointment, felt listened to and my injury was explained to me , he referred me for an x-ray to be sure there was no break , i went to County hospital where i was seen within 10mins. I have never experienced such a response, i wasn't out of the house an hour after visiting the surgery and county for the X-ray.

  5. Review titled Appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 November 2023

I find it impossible to get an appointment at 8am which is the only time a large group of people can ring. After the long wait for someone to answer the phone due to amount of callers by 8.30am there is no chance and " have to ring tomorrow morning 8am " is the reply. And on it goes till days later if i am lucky. I take it the staff are not aware that deaf people need face to face appointments. Just absolutely thoughtless. And told " you can have a telephone appointment " that is not a good idea . The attitude of one or two receptionists is awful. Beaconside does have poor reception staff. How on earth does someone manage there illness when they only have an 8am appointment time? Ridiculous!

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for your email. I am very sorry you were disappointed with the availability of appointments. We always endeavour to offer an appointment within a suitable timeframe and I am sorry you feel this has not been the case. It does sound as though you were offered an appointment although you felt it inappropriate and I am sorry for this. The appointment system we use is very similar to that of all other surgeries in the area. It is intended to provide both prioritised access for those who need urgent, same day-care and a range of different options for patients who need routine consultations. Appointments are available to book throughout the week and during evenings and weekends if that is more convenient for you. As we care for over 20,000 patients, we know that getting this balance right every day can be difficult, and I am sorry that the system has not worked in your experience. To ensure that when you do call we provide the right level of care, our team will ask you to summarise your need for an appointment. This is to help us prioritise needs as we know some patients underplay their symptoms and are unsure as to who best to see. As you would expect, our GP Partners do guide the team on how to prioritise conditions and help them decide whether clinically the appointment needs to be on the same day or whether it is more appropriate to book an appointment ahead. You will also be given guidance about other ways to access help where appropriate. As a failsafe, the team are always asked to err on the side of caution, and if there is any doubt, staff members will always consult the On-Call Doctor. You should not be asked to call back and if you would like this to be investigated further please do contact the Surgery, all calls are recorded and we will be happy to look into this further. Equally, I know the team will be disappointed about the comments you have made regarding their conduct. If you would like to provide additional information we can also review this. The type of appointment you receive is very much led by you and we offer a choice of either face-to-face or telephone consultation. The only exception to this is if a member of the clinical team is unwell but still able to work remotely. As mentioned if you would like us to investigate further please do contact the practice.

  6. Review titled Highly recommended practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 September 2023

The GP spent time to listen to me and complete a thorough examination to ascertain the problem before discussing treatment options with me. I felt valued, listened to and was given the opportunity to make choices when given the medication options. I would highly recommend the practice, it's way over and above any others I've been registered with

  7. Review titled Services Getting Worse

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2023

I'm sorry to say that there is no apparent management input here. Reception are great but there is nothing beyond to listen to any feedback, in fact I've been told to email rather than have a manager actually speak to me. A real shame.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for leaving your review. I am sorry that there was not a manager on site for you to speak to today. There is a site manager based at Beaconside but unfortunately, they must not have been available at the time. There are Supervisors on the site and you can of course speak to them in the manager's absence. If you do wish to speak to the manager please do contact the surgery again and / or leave your details and we will be in touch. Best Regards Gareth Edwards

  8. Review titled Super friendly practise

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helen Fergus - Posted on 25 August 2023

The receptionists at this practise are just so lovely. I made an appointment earlier in the month and called for results of a scan today. I've been at this practise for nearly 5 years and have always been impressed with the friendly manner of all staff. It wasn't the same at my previous surgery before moving to this area, so a big thanks, because you're often the unsung heroes.

  9. Review titled Very Good Nurse Support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helusia Hancock - Posted on 17 May 2023

Good afternoon During April and May this year I attended Weeping Cross Surgery and Beaconside Surgery for appointments to see your Nurses, I would like to say that the treatment I received from them both was excellent and very thorough. They were both very kind and caring and also reassured me about my concerns. They made me feel like a person and not just another number or statistic. I would like you to pass on my many thanks to them both please. Kind regards Helusia Hancock

  10. Review titled Waiting time

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 May 2023

When booking your appointment at this practice you have to consider that you will be waiting for over an hour until you are seen or not in my case. Can not request telephone call have to wait 33 days Can not request to send photo via link. Zero flexibility or consideration after waiting for a hour told to rebook an appointment because I needed to physically see a doctor.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for leaving your review. I am sorry you have been disappointed with the service received. We do offer same-day appointments to all Patients who need care on the day but these will be spread out during the day. Our appointments are all available as telephone of face to face appointments. In most cases, as a patient, you are free to choose which is the most suitable for you and at which site you would like to attend. There are however some clinical conditions that do require a face-to-face consultation and are not suitable for a telephone one. The team would usually provide guidance on this but if this did not happen I am sorry. If you would like to contact the Practice with further details we will of course investigate this further. Best Regards Gareth Edwards
