  2. Review titled Very good practice

Usually contacted by doctor quickly or same day if more urgent. I have seen the doctor the same day when urgent and received treatment at the same time.

  3. Review titled Disappointing to say the least

Rated 2 stars out of 5

The communication skills at your practice are questionable. I’m writing to express some serious concerns about the recent treatment and communication I’ve received, which, to put it mildly, has been nothing short of chaotic. To kick things off, I was informed of my scan results by none other than the receptionist. Now, I’m left wondering how they are medically qualified to interpret these results. Particularly when they struggle to pronounce basic medical terms like "homogeneous." I was then notified via a text message that the wrong scan had been read. How is this remotely appropriate for sensitive medical information? Surely more effort than a single call attempt should be standard procedure to inform someone when a mistake has been made. Then there was the gp, who called me not once but twice on the wrong day. I wasn’t prepared for the conversation, but of course, I didn’t want to turn down the call. When I did speak with the gp, it turned out to be an entirely frustrating experience. None of my questions were answered with any clarity or confidence, leaving me more confused than before. I would have thought that in such situations, a bit of compassion and knowledge would go a long way. But instead, I was met with ignorance. After a quick Google search on my part, I seemed to have gathered more relevant information about my scan than the gp could provide. If I knew I had to self-diagnose, I would have saved everyone the time. And to add to the absurdity, I was patronising explained how scans work—as if I wasn’t already aware as a member of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Team. Let’s not forget the cherry on top: being told about another patient who had pcos and eventually conceived, despite never having periods. An inspiring story, perhaps, but I fail to see how it relates to me, as I don’t have regular periods *or* a baby. Quite an irrelevant and insensitive comment, don’t you think? When the gp couldn’t provide additional reassurance, I suggested a referral to a specialist. This was met with reluctance to refer me because I haven’t been on birth control for three months. How is this a “holistic” approach when I’m clearly trying to conceive? There was no evidence or rationale provided for why this would even be beneficial. As if things couldn’t get any better, I was sent for a blood test, which admittedly I requested. What I didn’t request was for those results to sit unresolved, whilst I’m still feeling unwell. When I inquired about this, I was advised me to “raise another e-consult.” Why should I have to do this when it’s an ongoing concern? Where exactly is the compassion and care in this process? Lastly, I requested to be referred to a gp with a specialist interest in women’s health. The gp assured me there was no such person at the practice. Imagine my surprise when the receptionist later informed me of an entire women’s health clinic run at the surgery. Is this incompetence or ignorance? So yes over all very disappointed.

  4. Review titled Flu Jab

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by Dave G - Posted on 30 October 2024

Impromptu visit driving past on way home decided to see if I could get a flu vaccine. I must say the foyer area and the actual area where you queue for the pharmacy is looking a little tired. It seems like the staff were busy and there was a small queue rather than wait I jumped queue I enquired if I could get a flu vaccine ? After bit of deliberation deciding who could administer the jab the answer was yes… I did not want to drive anywhere else particularly at that time of evening but could have obtained same vaccine elsewhere [Asda]for £13 the cost here was £19.99.. seems a bit harsh to charge so much more for something that takes two minutes ! Maybe like 2 or 3 £ difference but £7 is a lot …Anyway, basically quick effective and job done no messing .. hopefully it will be effective? If you have time and you really need jab shop around and save yourself £7 ..

  5. Review titled Disorganised

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Having requested a prescription for a rarely used asthma inhaler that had expired I was told I had to attend a review despite the inhaler being prescribed. An appointment was made and I duly attended my local surgery to be told that it was to be held elsewhere. Information that was never provided to me, luckily I had a car to get to the appointment (albeit now late). The self check in didn't work, once seen by the nurse all I did was provide a couple of peak flow readings only to be told the rest could be done in line with previous online assessments I had done. So my total time with the nurse was no more than 5 minutes. I spent more time waiting than the time spent on the assessment. What a waste of my time and valuable NHS resource.

Personally, I have found Ivybridge Medical Centre have given me excellent care and attention. The community nurses who treat my condition on a three monthly cycle have been very caring and professional. The GPs and health advisors have been excellent in listening and prescribing my needs. Thank you to all staff.😊

Gp had helped me through an eply manoeuvre-which has eased my vertigo symptoms! I have being seeing the same doctor for a number of issues and cannot fault my experience, he is so thorough and clear, I always feel listened to and guided appropriately. Staff are always quick to respond to econsult/system connect.

On line referral was completed stating symptoms which had been for two weeks. Response was a pharmacist call within 2 Days. Symptoms still here 3 weeks later. Why are appointments non existent?

  9. Review titled Good Service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Repeat prescriptions I have had problems with so not a good service. My husband has had dementia . This year went for yearly checkup and the lady Doctor was so attentive and I really felt happy about how she treated us and felt we were not just a number ,that she really cared. So thank you for good service Today went to Mudge way for our flu and covd vaccination ,had boycotted the surgery for a few years and went elsewhere as was so badly organised with queues of old people and a long wait. Was a bit concerned at going as my husband could no longer stand and wait. Today there was no waiting had vaccinations immediately. So thank you for such a good service today

  10. Review titled Repeat Prescription

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Barbara Tidmarsh - Posted on 17 October 2024

Repeat perscription required all done on line without visit to surgery. Informed by surgery when script sent to chemist, with chemist notifying me that ready for collection. Efficient system that saves time for all involved.
