  2. Review titled Misconduct

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Imogen - Posted on 20 April 2024

On 19th of April on my behalf a prescription was picked up on my behalf from my nominated surgery Tesco, Great Yarmouth after placing a repeat prescription on the 15th for a Foster Inhaler. It was later when opening this prescription that it was noticed that the contents of the box was not an Inhaler but some Amoxicillin Antibiotics. confused, contact was made with the surgery immediately after noticing the incorrect contents where they advised there did not seem to be an issue their end and the Inhaler was at Tesco ready to be collected so then attention was turned to Tesco where it was discovered the date on the package being 18th March. During this time period I did seek medical assistance at the surgery on the 13th March for an ear infection where antibiotics were prescribed and picked up from Tesco at around 11am. A few days on, the infection still remained and having finished the first course, contact was made again where another prescription for a second lot of antibiotics was prescribed with this happening on the morning of 18th March, which were picked up around lunchtime that same day. This morning contact was made again both the surgery yourselves and Tesco to come to the bottom of just what on has gone wrong and after some back and forth it’s come to light the issue appears to lie with you. Two prescriptions were prescribed on the 13th March within two different timeframes. The first was picked up, as mentioned around 11ish from Tesco and I have receipt proof of this with the exact time to back that up. Regarding the second lot issued from the same day, it was brought to my attention the second lot, was sent through to the pharmacy after the first was picked up so my question is why? Clearly a screw up your end, why on earth would two prescriptions be sent on the same day, within a couple of hours of each other with this leading to all manners of confusion and me without the correct medication. Working full time, I pay for my prescriptions so thinking this latest prescription was an Inhaler this was of course paid for with no reason to believe it wouldn’t be what I had requested, and it’s now being pointed out to me that if I want the correct prescription then I must pay again. My question again is why? Why, am I being penalised for something which appears to be nothing shy of a colossal screw up your end. I'm completely out of the Fostair having gone the night of the 19th without, due to this major error so why am I being denied a vital piece of medicine? I am beyond appalled at this shambles, I have no desire for antibiotics so please enlighten me on how you intend to approach your screw up and how you are going to rectify my having to pay again? Of course my hands are tied, being completely out so I have no choice but to pay the fee to Tesco once the Inhaler is ready for collection. Your urgent response would be most appreciated in how you intend to right your wrong.

  3. Review titled Felt listened to.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda Triggs - Posted on 03 April 2024

Just want to say thanks to GP who saw me today at 0930. Such a relief for me to feel listened to. GP was thorough, not in the least bit dismissive, efficient & appeared clinically competent. I had been worrying about post operative medical complications for past month & was so relieved to see this GP who most importantly listened to & acknowledged my concerns. Then still within the short allocated appointment time, assessed me holistically & made a clear management plan. I am so grateful to this lovely professional & thorough lady Dr & very relieved.

  4. Review titled A brilliant experience, thank you!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kim Washbrook - Posted on 27 March 2024

I wanted to say thank you for the wonderful service my daughter received today. We are on holiday in the area and she developed a nasty ear infection, I rang at 8am to ask for details of the nearest walk in centre and was advised she could be temporarily registered with the surgery and reviewed later that day. At 2pm we visited the Sussex road surgery for her appointment, we were seen promptly by a lovely, gentle nurse practitioner, antibiotics prescribed and she is already starting to feel much better this evening. Thank you to the wonderful team for the care she received.

  8. Review titled Poor consultation

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 April 2023

I attended the Sussex Road surgery today and I have yet to experience a positive visit at this surgery. I've been palmed off before, staff appear not to care there and to put into context I attended the Hopton surgery a month or so prior and the staff/service were above and beyond in comparison. This surgery needs serious help. Who I saw to me seemed as though he'd rather be anywhere but there, there was no real consultation, he asked me one or two questions, took a quick look and that pretty much it. Nothing was explained to me except I was being given a steroid ointment, the medicine was not explained in any sense in terms of when, how long, how often, next steps. A real poor reflection I'm afraid. Furthermore I went to collect my mystery steroid prescription and the pharmacy advised me it was not available and would not be long term and so to contact the surgery. Have to say I am thoroughly unimpressed by the whole experience, no idea what I'm going to get now or even if based on today's experience. If there was a minus star I'd be giving that.

Dear Patient I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the service received. All our staff work across all three branch surgeries, at Sussex Road, Magdalen Way/Shrublands and Hopton Surgery. I am unable to comment with regards to your specific experience because I do not have all of the information to investigate. I would encourage you to get in touch with us so that I can do this and ensure that I rectify anything that requires improvement. Unfortunately, it is impossible for clinicians to always be aware of which items at a Pharmacy are in stock as this changes so frequently throughout a day; I do hope that when you contacted us you were then provided with an alternative medication. Again, my sincere apologies that you are unhappy with the service provided - please do get in touch directly if you would like to discuss this further. Thank you Caitlin Clarke Business Manager

  9. Review titled A vast improvement at Hopton Surgery!

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 April 2023

Had an apptn this morning with a paramedic at Hopton and not only was he great but it was lovely to have some background music on. I was also impressed with the white board used for detailing which members of staff were on and their profession. However, although the majority of receptionists are very personable and friendly the one today on 19th April wasn't, which is a shame. I spent 7 years working as a qualified doctor's receptionist so I know the difficulties but a smile and friendly approach goes a long way with poorly patients. Thank you.

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to leave us your kind but honest review. I am glad that you found the Paramedic to be helpful and I will pass this feedback on to him - it will be appreciated. It is great that you have noticed the small improvements we have recently made, with regards to the whiteboard and the background music - I am pleased this is being appreciated! I have also managed to identify the Receptionist you have mentioned and we have had a conversation with regards to her manner on the day; I am sure that this will improve but I am sorry that this was your experience at that time. Thank you again for your kind words Caitlin Clarke Business Manager

I filled in an online form regarding my blocked ears at 08:10. At 08:22 I received a phone call from the surgery. An appointment was made for me to see a nurse. The person making the phone call to me was great to deal with. Thank you & well done.
