  1. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I wanted to write and thank Banbury Cross Health Centre for their fantastic service, I know previously it has been difficult to get appointments but since amalgamating with other services over the last couple of years, I have always been able to get an appointment same or next day with friendly staff and no long waits for appointments. I felt that they deserved some recognition after previous challenging times and would certainly recommend the service to anyone.

  2. Review titled Excellent Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Knight - Posted on 12 June 2023

I had a consultation this morning to discuss a small number of interconnecting conditions. The doctor listened carefully to my issues, discussed them with me and agreed a way forward that will, hopefully, resolve them. I left the surgery feeling valued as an individual and confident in my treatment. A particularly good experience in a Practice that has consistently provided a professional and timely service since I first registered, a year ago. Thank you

My review gave 3 stars but I meant to give it 5 as my experience was so good. As I said before the nurse was kind, friendly and professional. I also forgot to mention the two receptionists on Green floor who were also very helpful and happy. You are all appreciated very much.

  5. Review titled Real improvement

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Sue mitchell - Posted on 07 June 2023

Really just wanted to share about the improvements I have noticed regarding getting appointments and getting through on the phone. I have had two times this week where I needed to ring, once for a appointment I had requested online. The receptionist called me to make that appointment with my doctor that I asked for. I also called to change a blood test appointment which I couldn’t do because of no appointments at the time I requested. The point was that I rang about 12 to get through straight away,no delay whatsoever. Thank you to all the staff for all that you do for us.

The receptionist was friendly and helpful. My husband is deaf and the GP made sure that he understood everything he said, facing him at all times and speaking clearly. He was professional and extremely caring . A very satisfactory experience

  9. Review titled No Empathy

Rated 1 star out of 5

Having taken my Mother to the JR Oxford to see a Specialist on Monday and to be told my Mother needs painkillers but only the GP can supply, I find it appalling that the GP is on Holiday and my Mother told she can't speak to a GP until next week!

Thanks for taking the time to submit a comment. We are always trying to improve the service we provide and feedback is extremely useful for this. I am sorry you were not happy with the service you received. GPs, like any workers, are entitled to holidays and we encourage all of our staff to take their annual leave so that they are able to continue to provide excellent service and not become burnt out. Hospital doctors are able to provide prescriptions and, indeed are required contractually to do this, if a prescription is required immediately. So, if this was the case, I am most disappointed that the hospital doctor did not do so. Please do contact us on feedback.bchc@nhs.net so that we can feed this back to the relevant clinician. If the prescription was not urgent then all prescription changes and requests are dealt with by our excellent pharmacy team with an extremely rapid turnaround. This happens whether or not the named GP is on leave. Prescription changes don't usually require a GP appointment? We try to keep GP appointments for things which only GPs can deal with. This is because there is a national shortage of GPs. Obviously, if your mother's GP was on annual leave then, quite naturally, an appointment would not be available. Many thanks, Dr Gwyneth Rogers, Clinical Lead

  10. Review titled Phone never answered - appointments non existant

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 May 2023

Tried to get through on the phone for weeks and phone is never answered! Don't dare turn up without an appointment, as you will get cross examined by a receptionist to say why you're there and then just told to ring again. So you go round and round in circles for evermore! Whoever is in charge of the appointment booking system really needs to buck up their ideas. It's the worst it's been in my 70 years. Currently, not fit for purpose!!!

Thank you for leaving a comment. All feedback is useful and we take it into account to try to improve our service to patients. Sadly, there is a national shortage of primary care staff. This means there are fewer GPs so fewer appointments. In order to try to ensure that GPs are only used for things which can only be sorted out by a GP (as opposed to admin enquiries, sick notes, results, prescription queries, physio issues and so on) we have a highly trained call centre team who ask a few questions to ensure that each query is dealt with as efficiently as possible. We always have a call-back function to try to avoid people hanging on the line for ages as we know how annoying this is. We have on-the-day appointments with a team of employed GPs but if you want a specific appointment with a named GP then there is a waiting list system. This works by putting your name on a list then as soon as an appointment becomes available you are contacted and booked in. This saves people having to phone up every day looking for an appointment. We also encourage patients to contact their MP to ask for changes to the system to increase the supply of primary care staff. I can assure you that we are doing the very best we can with the resources we have available. If you want to contact us further you can always email feedback.bchc@nhs.net Many thanks, Dr Gwyneth Rogers, Clinical Lead
