My latest dentist at the practice is amazing and provides me with excellent care of my teeth. Just had two fillings today and he was really patient with me as I am extremely nervous when attending appointments.

All staff are friendly and welcoming - you get the impression that your care is important to them. My dentist explained my need for treatment clearly and gave me options for either having it done on the NHS or privately with what the difference was. Throughout the treatment my dentist explained what he was going to do and performed the treatment with care. I am completely satisfied with the outcome.

After my tooth fractured the 0ractice managed to find a small window to check me out. It needed a big filling replacement so booked in as soon as possible. All the time staff and the dentist managed me calmly and openly so I knew what was needed. Injections and drills are never fun but the dentist was amazing (as all the dentists in this practice have been for me over the years) it was a long procedure but I was treated with empathy and I knew everything that was being done which really helped calm me down. Brilliant work

A very thorough examination, and I did not require any work on the teeth. I also did not see the Hygienist, because she did not come in.

Whilst I have no issue with the treatment offered, or advice given, the constant turnover of Dentists is a concern. Having used the practice for 14yrs, I must have seen a dozen different dentists during this time. I have rarely seen the same one twice. What has happened to the concept of a practice run collectively by a small group of NHS Dentists? I can only assume that having served their mandatory minimum NHS commitment, they move on to private practice. Continuity of care is therefore an issue and you build no trust relationship or dialogue with a regular dentist.

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am happy to hear that despite some changes in dentists you are still pleased with our services. Our practice, like many practices today, is part of a small cooperate rather than being run by a small group of dentists. We do however work very hard to appoint NHS dentists. There is currently a national shortage of NHS dentists, but at Dentalcare Hook we are lucky enough to have several dentists contracted to work under the NHS meaning we can see thousands of NHS patients. Dentists do not have a mandatory minimum NHS commitment – some will never work for the NHS and some will for their whole career. Unfortunately, this is not something we can control at practice level and is each dentist’s personal choice. Whilst some dentists do leave NHS practices to work in private practices, others are looking for a better work life balance, have personal circumstances or retire.
