I had two cataract operations approx one month apart. Both outcomes were excellent. But experience was different for each. The first surgeon was very interactive and encouraging. He kept asking if I was OK which was very reassuring. The second surgeon never spoke to me just talked to another member of the team about football as he was operating and was less gentle in the cleaning process. I understand that the second surgeon had 28 operations that day so its more like a conveyer belt, with little humanity in evidence. I contrast this with the nurses before and after the operations who were warm & reassuring in both cases. I was surprised that this difference was so significant for me. After the first operation I felt OK; after the second I was quite shaken and had to sit down before I could be collected. My subjective assessment is that both surgeons did an equally excellent job in terms of eventual outcomes, with a drastic improvement in my eyesight. It seems a shame that a more patient centred, caring approach was not adopted by both surgeons. Perhaps I expect too much in this age where efficiency often seems to trumps humanity. Throughout the whole process, before and after each operation, my optician has been very helpful and supportive with much useful, practical advice, particularly about dealing with the period between the two operation when the difference between the two eyes can cause difficulties.

I found the complete experience of my various visits to this clinic to be of the most professional / caring / of the highest standard of any medical practice I have previously visited. All staff were without exception extremely helpful and caring.

In September and October 2023 I had cataract surgery on each eye. Each appointment was extremely well organised and on time. The operations themselves took less than 10 minutes on each occasion, and were performed with great skill. All members of staff, both administrative and medical who I encountered were very knowledgeable and efficient, and I cannot praise them more highly. I was contacted by the clinic within a week of my optician's referral, and had the pre-op appointment and first surgery within five weeks of the referral.

I had both my eyes done at Bedford, the staff were excellent, putting my mind at ease with any worries I may have had, the time span for both eyes was six weeks, which was pretty quick, a clean and friendly environment, I would highly recommend SpaMedica Bedford.

I was referred to Spamedica by Specsavers in Luton Beds who did all the preparitry paperwork. My preop appointment came on Auugust the 8th 2023 which was very quick, and when I arrived they were extremely efficient and friendly.. My procedure appoint ment came on September 15th again very quick. As before they were efficient and friendly and carried out the procedure very professionally, it was amazing how easy it was and how fast and painless. After the procedure I was given all the things I needed and the instructions on how to use everything. This piace is fantastic at what they do and the staff our wonderful. I have to go back for my discharge visit in about 4 weeks to make sure that all is well. A Great service.
