Review titled Superb service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Norma Bond - Posted on 14 September 2024
Good reception who staff actually listened and were efficient and polite. After being prescribed antibiotics by GP for a leg infection, the infection spread and I was concerned. I attended Purley Hub on Sat 7 Sep. After a short wait I was attended by a Nurse Practitioner, who sadly I cannot name. She was brilliant. She was concerned infection wasn’t responding to treatment, dressed the wound and I had to return two days later for assessment. She prescribed another 5 days of antibiotics, advising to return again shortly. This time the infection was improving and I was ‘signed off’. The nurse explained everything with empathy, and is a credit to the NHS. I know I would not have received this service from my GP surgery. I hesitated going to Purley Hub after reading the reviews. However I am delighted I did so and grateful to the staff. Thank you Purley Hub

Review titled Dismissive GP hub
Rated 1 star out of 5

Gp hub contacted my gp surgery without informing me saying why do we keep on coming here for a wound dressing change, when 111 told us we can come here, they need to make clear contact with patients and if you offer a service online or on 111 referral then uphold your services. don’t just turn away patients when they have nowhere else to go, and when they’ve been referred from gp /111. Also rude to go behind a patients back and tell their gp to tell them to stop coming here.

The GP Hubs are in place for same-day urgent care requirements and our appointments are bookable via NHS111. We do not turn away patients who have been referred to us, but do have a responsibility to ensure that our patients receive the best possible ongoing care. For patients requiring longer term wound management, the best practice is for that patient to be under the care of their Practice Nurse, so that they receive continuity of care. We do communicate with your GP Surgery to this end. Kind regards, Lynne Hughes, Service Manager

Review titled Dismissive GP and misdiagnosis
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 July 2024
I got an appointment at the hub over the weekend due to being in pain and noticed the appearance of skin lesions, the GP I saw barely even acknowledged me or examined my face, just said they might be cysts and gave me steroids and antibiotics. Turns out it's actually shingles and have been given and taking stuff that makes it worse! I have been in agony and distress all weekend and the doctor was extremely dismissive and not thorough.

One of the doctors saw me although she didn’t have to and could have easily sent me straight to Mayday for an X-ray. She was compassionate and kind. Very much appreciated. Just wanted to say Thank you.

Review titled Treated with suspicion
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Jacqueline Brown - Posted on 27 January 2024
Unfortunately I had a poor experience on 25th January. The GP I saw kept on asking how I had got an appointment and asked ‘why are you here?’ At one point she stood across the room just staring at me. I had called the Purley Hub thinking that it was a walk in clinic. I had missed getting an appointment in my area. I had made it very clear that I was a Tadworth resident but was told that I could still get an appointment at the hub. I had explained this to the GP I saw but she did not seem to believe me and regarded me with suspicion. I am not entirely sure what she thought was going on but I was a genuine patient and did not appreciate being treated in this way. It was an unpleasant experience and left me feeling unsettled. I can only assume that she thought I was involved in some sort of ‘scam’ to get medication and then sell it on??? I have the right to be treated with dignity and respect when I visit a surgery.

I am so sorry to hear of your poor experience of the GP Hub on this occasion. Just for clarity, the GP Hubs are open to patients from both Croydon Borough and from further afield; we also accept walk-in patients presenting with urgent care need. I can only apologise that you were made to feel uncomfortable and assure you that I will speak to the GP you saw to address this. Best wishes, Lynne Hughes, Service Manager

Review titled Poor GDPR and patient privacy
Rated 1 star out of 5

I am currently sat in the purley gp hub waiting room. It's 4.20pm and I can very clearly hear the gp in consulting room 2, doing a telephone consultation where he has kept the patient on loud speaker and I could hear the entire exchange. I dread to think that had this patient had a more sensitive or severe medical concern how he would feel about the 8 members of the public hearing the ins and outs of his medical issues.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We do not generally conduct telephone consultations, preferring to conduct our consultations face-to-face. I have shared your concern with all of our clinicians to ensure that this does not happen again

Review titled Brilliant
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Suzy Knightly - Posted on 09 July 2023
I have just been to the GP hub in purley on a Sunday late afternoon, without an appointment. I was seen by a lovely GP who assessed me and gave me a prescription, which I picked up next door. I was there approximately 20 minutes, from walk-in to seeing the GP and then leaving. Outstanding service and a brilliant doctor. Very grateful!
