  1. Review titled Effective and personalised

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sophy - Posted on 23 February 2024

Having recently completed 7 sessions of one-to-one talking therapy for my health anxiety, I am compelled to share my positive experience. The therapy was profoundly impactful in addressing my specific needs. Firstly, the therapist deserves special mention for her exceptional listening skills and empathetic approach. Each session felt like a safe space where I could openly discuss my anxieties without any judgment. This level of understanding and care was instrumental in helping me navigate through my challenges. What stood out to me was the ‘comprehensive toolbox’ provided by the therapist. These practical strategies and techniques are tailored to my personal situation, making them incredibly relevant and effective. Applying these tools to my daily life has been a game changer, allowing me to confront and manage situations that would have previously triggered anxiety. The most significant outcome of these sessions has been the noticeable reduction in my anxiety levels. It’s a relief to see such a marked improvement over a relatively short period. This progress has been a testament to the therapist’s expertise and the efficacy of the therapy. Thank you!

  2. Review titled Quickly passed over and then no help

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 March 2024

After my first evaluation I was referred to a different clinic, after being advised the current one could not and would not help me, new clinic tried to call I was at work, I tried to call back and nobody ever answered or helped so I’ve now been left after 10 long weeks of waiting with no help and in a worse mental state than before. The nhs clearly have no interest in helping.

  3. Review titled Really helped me a lot

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was treated for low mood and stress, I'm very much better after the course of therapy. You do have to read and do "Homework", engage and interact which was fine with me particularly as I got very noticeable improvements of my symptoms. The therapist was professional / friendly and understanding

  4. Review titled Still waiting!!!!

Referred 20 weeks ago and still nowhere near seeing a counsellor. This service is of limited value if despite a GP driving the referral the medication prescribed cannot be supported by therapy.

  5. Review titled They are going through a checklist, they don't care at all

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 May 2024

Hi, I signed up for talking therapies after being recommended by my GP. I want to say, first of all, that I have a friend who works for this service and they do an amazing job. I just couldn't talk to them because of how vulnerable I would have been, but I did use this service hoping to find someone like them but more anonymous to be able to open up properly. I was honest and open throughout my talks with the therapist about some deeply personal issues as I knew to make progress you had to put the work in and give it a real try. As a bloke from a tough non-emotional background having always been taught never to show my emotion, this was incredibly uncomfortable. For the first time, I was vulnerable and open about my mental health. After being recommended a therapist and a 7 session program, I invested fully into it for the first two sessions and then raised my concerns in the third about the fact the program was incredibly non-specific, didn't relate to my issues, and wasn't helping me in any shape or form. I was asked to trust the program, and told everything would become clear and so I did. I thought to myself, they are the expert and I should give it my full effort even if I didn't see any relation to my issues just yet. After getting to the end of session 6 and seeing no progress, I became concerned I wasn't being taken seriously and that this person was just checking off a checklist not bothered about my actual mental health. They asked a bunch of random, quite frankly, silly questions. I raised my concerns again and I was told I was one session away from finishing and that session would be the same again as the previous ones. After voicing my concerns again, about not having had any real help on the issues I talked about in my evaluation and the first session, I was told that it didn't really matter as I wasn't thinking of suicide and if I wanted to progress I would be passed to another general therapist one level up there risk scale, of which, I was at the absolute bottom of because I refused to hurt myself at that point. The therapist stated the next therapist would just have another questionnaire that might go slightly deeper. I spoke about my frustrations of opening up and getting no real help but was told they couldn't do anything. It made me shut down and give up. I had a breakdown because even after I followed the advice of friends to use this service and the modern-day advice of opening up about my emotions, I was told that unless I was ready to jump, my mental health was not important. For the month following, I went into a deep depression and contemplated a lot of awful things. Luckily, with the support of my friends who had to do the job of the therapist, I came out the other end but if I didn't have them I wouldn't be here. This service tipped me over the edge, so unless you're about to unalive yourself and cause them to actually find someone who cares/will put the effort in, I do not recommend using it.

  6. Review titled Excellent counselling

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 October 2023

I was treated for depression via zoom. My counsellor could not have been kinder or more supportive and was really great at picking up on past issues that have made me feel the way I do. At the same time I was given a diagnosis of ADHD and underlying autism, which I found hard to deal with, and my counsellor really helped me feel so much better. There were six sessions of counselling, and everyone added value. The delay in being given the treatment would be my only criticism.

  8. Review titled Amazing Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jacqueline - Posted on 27 September 2023

I attended 4 sessions of CBT counselling for depression. I didn't think 4 sessions would help at all, but I was wrong. My counsellor was fantastic and tailored, within the structure, the CBT for me. I have come a way clearer and with tools to help me should I find myself slipping back. I would really recommend this service to you if you are wanting to work towards helping yourself feel better. I can't recommend my counsellor highly enough. They really did listen and understand. Thank you to all.

  9. Review titled Rubbish, no phone signal to talk and then ghosted

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Clare - Posted on 01 September 2023

Went through the initial assessment, the lady who phoned to discuss whether I would like CBT or counselling was very nice but had no phone signal so ended up having to email me the info for each (not ideal for “talking” therapies…) I had to text to say I’d like counselling as I have cancer and feel like I need it, heard nothing for weeks and no reply asking for an update

My Dr referred me to talk through the murder of my son as I was overwhelmed dealing with the murder trial. I had 2 sessions. The Therapist was empathetic and I felt heard.
