Review titled Wonderful Endoscopy
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Pamela J Davies - Posted on 10 October 2024
I was admitted for an Endoscopy 4 days ago and from the time I arrived I was well looked after, I was very nervous of my 2nd endoscopy as my last one 6 years ago was not a nice experience. But! The new building was wonderful regarding you have your own room to be prepped for the procedure, privacy was a major key to be kept calm and relaxed .All the staff especially the Endoscopy procedure team 2 nurses and 1 consultant explained everything to me,I wish I could mention names but! I’m not allowed. I was taken back to my room to recover with a cup of Tea and a biscuit until my partner arrived. If I ever need another Endoscopy I will be more relaxed knowing I will be looked after.A big thank you to All! Who looked after me, keep up the good work. Kind regards Ms Pamela J Davies

Review titled Terrible telephone and email communication
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Kate Hartigan - Posted on 20 August 2024
I have tried 6 times to contact the department using the main reception number given on my letter following an outpatient procedure. Yesterday the call was twice answered and put through to the extension I requested but no reply after a long wait, and once answered and directed to appointments but after another long wait I had the message 'the person on the other end has hung up'. Today I can't get any reply at all from the switchboard, it rings for a while then cuts out. I need to phone as the e-mail address given for the department results in a bounce back as not recognised! This is truly abysmal service and lets down the rest of the Alexandra hospital service which is excellent.

Review titled Very caring
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 August 2024
I had a referral to the breast screening clinic, following my local screening. There was a couple of hours delay with the appointments, due to a technical problem, which was explained to me clearly. The staff were amazingly caring, explaining procedures to me and I was totally reassured. They were excellent.

Review titled Wonderful, but totally overworked staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Ann - Posted on 08 March 2024
I was admitted a week ago following a car crash. I spent the first 5 hours in triage. It took 3 requests and 5 hours for me to get 2 paracetemol for my head pain. All staff were running around looking shell shocked and completely overwhelmed. All were very kind and obviously wanting to do their jobs, but just chaos. I was then moved on my trolley to the 'corridoor care. Where I stayed for a further 25 hours. I had various tests and a CT scan but then discharged myself. The bright flourescent lights and noisy human traffic in the corridoor were like using sleep deprivation as torture. It was even really hard to find a pillow for me, but one was eventually found. I did not want to discharge myself as there were worries about further trauma symptoms developing, but I decided to take the chance. I had a warm shower and got into my own bed in the dark and quiet. It did me the world of good. I find it just so very sad, with all the lovely, caring staff at the hospital, who are clearly so committed and professional and trying their very best, that this new facility seems to be so chaotic. What a tragedy.

Review titled Super efficient!
by Oliver - Posted on 04 February 2024
Arrived for X-ray, appointment running bang on time, friendly reception staff and radiographer, who took time to explain process and ask questions to better understand the injury. In an out in under 10minutes. Great customer experience, thank you Princess of Wales Community Hospital Bromsgrove :)

Due to pregnancy sickness I have been to see the emergency gynae unit twice. I am so thankful to them for helping me in times of need and always feeling like they are taking my problems seriously. I wanted to leave a review as I really am grateful to them.

Review titled Was I to blame?
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Peter - Posted on 09 July 2023
Thursday evening I found I was unable to urinate and in so much pain I fainted. After calls to 111 and two call backs from a doctor I was advised to go to A&E where I would probably have a catheter inserted. Arrived at 3.30am and was assessed then returned to the waiting area. I was in immense discomfort for the next five hours but was given a codine and a paracetamol during that time. Whether it had any affect I'm not sure. When I was finally attended to, within ten minutes I had a catheter inserted and the relief was instant and incredible. But I couldn't help thinking, why couldn't someone have done that five hours earlier instead of me being in such pain. Once that pain was gone I would have happily waited five hours for any follow up treatment. Now I wonder if it was my fault for not creating a fuss, should I have been more demanding. I feel I just disappeared into a system that for my situation let me suffer for longer than was needed. When I was seen the doctor was excellent and I certainly have no complaints with that department. I hope this feedback may help in improving the system. Regards Peter

Review titled Alex Discharge Lounge
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by A. Dagnan - Posted on 29 June 2023
On 27th June 2023 I found myself in the above whilst awaiting a lift. There was a constant flow of patients from the wards. All were elderly and most suffering from a degree of dementia. They all had one thing in common they wanted to go home and had difficulty understanding the delay in them doing so. However many times this was explained they soon asked again why they couldn't go home now. Some were silent . Others tried to run away repeatedly one was loud and aggressive and an escape merchant. Whatever the demeanour of each patient I was impressed, no in awe, at the gentle caring way the staff treated these poor souls however difficult they were being. Gently explaining for the umpteenth time why they couldn't go home yet, and gently returning them to the lounge when they had done a runner. I was there for two hours and at first wished I was anywhere else. Soon though I was just in total admiration of the gentle care the staff took of what it is fair to say were difficult patients. I do wonder if anyone realizes what tremendous care goes on in this hidden away room. I truly believe that the staff must go home exhausted and would like appropriate recognition given to them for their dedication.
