Review titled Great pharmacist and wonderful human being
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kristine Wykham-Fiennes - Posted on 23 August 2023
My doctor called the pharmacy at Pattens Lane to make sure they had stock of an urgently needed medication he had prescribed. The pharmacy was about to close but the pharmacist offered to stay behind after closing; he instructed that I knock on the shutters when I arrived. He was so kind to me that it almost brought me to tears; when I thanked him he replied that it was his pleasure and his duty. When my son returned to the pharmacy to pick up another prescription the pharmacist gave him some food supplements to help me while i couldn't eat - he said these were free of charge. Each time my son returns to the pharmacy, the pharmacist never fails to ask after me. I have seen some awful reviews for this pharmacy, I cannot believe that they are from the Pattens Lane branch. I have nothing but praise for the exceptional pharmacist who works there, he is truly a rarity in this day and age.

Review titled Felt belittled and embarrassed by pharmacist
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 March 2023
I had experienced some mild chest pain and I was really concerned about what to do. I was advised by 111 to visit Karsons Pharmacy to talk to a medical professional - I was told that they would have my information and just to pop in. When I arrived, and explained my symptoms the chemist said "Well why did you come here?" - I suffer from severe health anxiety whilst also being scared of going to the doctors so it took a lot for me to go (that's how much pain I was in). She was so dismissive of my symptoms and was talking really loudly so everyone in the pharmacy could hear and I felt like I was being questioned by the police and that my going there was a complete mistake. The thing that really upset me was when she said. "Well you've either got indigestion or you're having a heart attack." That made me panic further and increased my pain. There was no sympathy or understanding of why I came to the chemist more so - she hadn't even looked to see if my details were sent through by 111. I understand it was a busy time and I can sympathise with the struggle of seeing to everyone but I really felt embarrassed by the whole situation and the fact that everyone in the building was also watching this interaction too, it was so demeaning.
