Review titled No supplies of letrozole hormone treatment for breast cancer
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have recently bee diagnosed with breast cancer, I am having my surgery in August and going on holiday in abroad on 11 July. I have been prescribed Letrozole from the breast cancer clinic at the RVI, Newcastle upon Tyne, I will have to take this for 5 years. First of all I had to ask my GP practice 3 times to make sure they had issued a presecription despite them being informed by letter from the hospital. Eventually this was forwarded electronically to Boots, Stamfordham Rd, Westerhope and I told it would be ready on Friday. On Friday afternoon I was told be Boots that they did not have it and it wpuld ordered for today Saturday and I would receive a text. No text arrived I rang Boots who said there was a shortage of Letrozole due to manufacturing issues. I explained I needed it before the 11 July before I go away and it very important that I take my medication to stop the cancer from growing they could not guarantee a date. I then contacted Ponteland Rd pharmacy and lo and behold they had the Letrozole in stock. Why is Boots unable to get supplies of this when it is available at other pharmacies. This apoears to be a regular issue with Boots it is stressful enough beibg told you have csncer without gping through the hassle of trying to obtain your medication.
