  1. Review titled Lackluster Mono Tones

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 June 2024

I see little has improved with GMMH and the Out of Hours 24/7 Helpline. I’ve attempted to use them twice this year when I was desperate to talk to someone, the first time I was told to self-refer myself to a service, or ask my GP to do it, despite me telling the person on the end of the phone, this had been done twice and was rejected. It was also very difficult to hear who I was speaking to due to all the background noise from the office she was calling from. The second night was today in the early hours, when I was met with someone who could only mumble and offer one word pathetic responses to my situation. At first she called and asked to speak to someone with a different name, I put the phone down, she then called back with the correct name, but after realising very little has changed with GMMH and their incompetent staff who don’t have a clue, I terminated the call. I might not have any mental health qualifications per se, but I could handle those calls much better than the staff you employ, and I have far more intellectual common sense to talk to someone in a crisis than your staff do, perhaps that’s all the therapy you threw at me 10 years ago, when you misdiagnosed me for 15 years with a Personality Disorder, when in fact I was autistic, oh you also missed the ADHD diagnosis as well.

  3. Review titled So unfit for purpose it's actually unbelievable

Rated 1 star out of 5

I've been recieving so called "care" from Greater Manchester Mental Health for many years. I've always been made to feel like I'm a drain on precious resources for asking for scraps. You're passed from pillar to post, nobody wants to deal with you, which when you have complex mental health is kind of the last thing you need. There are such long waiting lists for therapeutic interventions (1-3 years), and then when you get to the top of the list and are assessed they just tell you that you're "too complex" and need to be on the next waiting list, another 1-3 years, and so the farce continues. And then, when you can't cope and end up in hospital they say they'll take care of things when you're discharged, get you that care coordinator you've been on the waiting list for (for a year), get you back into therapy, get you more regular psychiatry appointments to review your medications etc. But when you're discharged it's just crickets. No follow-up, no care coordinator, no regular psychiatry appointments, no therapy referral. My psychiatry appointment was cancelled an hour before and they hung up before I could ask when it would be rescheduled for. I finally found out that it has been rescheduled for 3 months time. The community mental health team doesn't even return my calls. The crisis line, presumably set up for people in immediate crisis, doesn't pick up (oh yes, you can leave your name and number and they occasionally call back hours and hours later). I hope they realise that every time someone with a mental illness tries to reach out for support and is met with a shut door it is completely crushing. Absolutely pathetic excuse for a mental health service, and I assure you nobody will be held accountable

  4. Review titled Appalling

I rang because I was feeling incredibly suicidal. I was told to distract myself, watch tv or eat something. When I said I’d already done these things, because I’m not stupid and I know my mental health, I was then told to ring the Samaritans. Thanks for nothing.
